Another Off Duty Shooting

An off-duty Chicago police officer exchanged gunfire with two assailants early Sunday in Washington Park on the South Side.
The officer was confronted by two gunman about 1:50 a.m. in the 100 block of East 57th Street and all three fired, though the officer wasn’t injured and the gunmen fled, Chicago police said.
Police did not say who fired first. The officer initially exchanged gunfire with one person before a second gunman also opened fire on the officer. Both gunmen then fled.
No one should care who fired first. This ridiculous statement by the media (and if it was a ridiculous question, then shame on them) is going to get cops and citizens killed. You don't have to "take fire" to feel your life is in danger. The Law isn't written that way.
The General Orders (and training) have unfortunately, turned street encounters into a "quick draw" contest, and few people practice that.
Glad the Officer is okay.

I was just thinking while I was the only person in a Mexican style restaurant, what would I do if this place was to get robbed because there was only one customer, me! This is becoming all to common. For me next time take it to go!
For the off-duty Officer, I’m happy you weren’t hurt. No one can bring anyone back from the dead. Stay safe and I wish you a long life and happiness. The criminals will just live a short life or enjoy being in prison.

Why is JCat spending tens of thousands of dollars in dues to throw a "Friendsgiving" party for board members friends and family? Meanwhile officers are being told they don't get lawyers to go with them to IAD to give statements. It's obvious that this board cares more about partying and taking care of their buddies, than the best interests of the members. Are they using our legal defense fund for all these trips and dinners? Is this why members are being told that the board will mediate on their behalf with IAD so they don't have to pay an attorney? Are members being denied due process so Johnny can get a new $150k car or another exotic vacation?

002nd district took 3 hours to notify Area detectives. Then 002nd coppers picked up all casings. All evidence was compromised. Incompetent LTs and Sgts to blame.
