Challenge #69: Pick a Patterned Paper

Challenge #69
Pick a Patterned Paper

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Scribbles Designs Challenge blog. Whether you are new or one of our regulars, we are so thankful that you are here with us on our little spot in blogland. It is the 15th of the month and that means it is time for our next challenge to get started! Our theme this month is Pick a Patterned Paper and here is what you need to know to join us...

In our everyday lives we come across patterns everywhere we look. When we first open our eyes in the morning until the moment we close them at the end of the day, there are a myriad of patterns to grab our attention. Subtle patterns and bold ones, small ones and large ones too. Everything from the clothing we wear, to the bedding and linens we use, to the choices in our wall coverings and furniture, all say something about our design style. As crafters we often use a selection of patterns in our design creations as well. For the next month, we have decided that it would be fun to focus not so much on the image that is generally used as a focal point in our projects, but to instead direct our attention to the patterned paper(s) that we use as a backdrop. Thus, for this challenge, if you want to be eligible for any of our prizes, please choose from one or more of the following patterns for your main background paper(s): dots, stripes, plaids, chevrons, or diamonds.

Our incredibly talented women are here to share their inspiring creative work featuring projects related to our Pick a Patterned Paper theme. We hope that you will enjoy the Scribbles Designs images and the creative direction that ensues.

Any questions about the challenge? Please read our Challenge Rules located in the right sidebar.

If you would like to purchase a Scribbles Designs image, please click HERE.

Our freebie for this challenge is going to be a bit different. Normally, Sandy would be providing you with an image freebie. This challenge though, since the focus is not on any type of image but rather a background paper, we thought that we'd share a digital paper that you can use for participating if you would like...

Scribble Doodle Designs Polka Dot Patterned Paper

Another creation under the Scribble Doodle Designs label! Today's paper is twelve inches by twelve inches (3600 pixels x 3600 pixels) as opposed to the usual 6 in. size for freebies. If you are a card maker, you can easily resize it smaller to suit your purposes. It is in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Rhonda Tonkinson (Eyeinspire) and Elif Sahin (Pixel Scrapper). I have also been inspired by a colour palette available from Design Seeds. To grab today's offering, click the download button to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the creation, the preview sheet, the full credit information and the Scribble Doodle Designs terms of use which are standard to all of our folders.

This month's prizes...

  • Top Scribbler (chosen randomly) receives $10 worth of digital images
  • Top 3 (chosen by Design Team) receives $3 worth of digital images

Challenge #68 Midway: Year of the Dog

Challenge #68
Year of the Dog
Midway

Hello everyone! Welcome to the midway point of our current challenge. Here is a refresher of what the theme is all about:

According to the Chinese Astrological Calendar, 2018 happens to be the Year of the Dog. Individuals born during the Year of the Dog (1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018)  just happen to share the same characteristics as their canine counterparts with honesty and loyalty being top traits. They also happen to be the truest of friends and are very reliable as a partner. It is because of these characteristics that dogs are considered by many to be 'man's best friend'. The statistics support this idea with approximately 35% of Canadian households having a dog (Ipsos Reid, 2011), roughly 39% of American households having one (Psychology Today) and approximately 25% of UK households having one as well (Pet Food Manufacturers Association, 2013). With so many dog lovers out there AND with it happening to be the Year of the Dog, it is time to honour all the canine companions in our midst. That is why for this challenge, we are looking for dogs to take centre stage in your creation. Make sure that you have at least one dog as the primary focus of your creation. If you want to add a whole kennel of them, that is up to you but you just need to ensure there is at least one puppy or full grown dog on your project to be eligible to receive the prize. Hot diggety dog! We look forward to seeing who will be best in show.

There are still two weeks left in the challenge and we hope that you will be able to join us here on our spot in blog-land. We have had just four entries so far this month so we'd really love to see some more of you join in! Given that National Dog Day was just a few days ago in the USA, hopefully a few more of you might have creations you can join in with!

Our incredibly talented women are back to showcase their amazing creative work featuring projects related to our Year of the Dog theme. We hope that you will enjoy the Scribbles Designs images and the creative direction that ensues.
