Wood power carving with an electric rotary tool - the basics
Παραθέτω ενδεικτικά μερικά από τα εργαλεία (ή παρόμοια) που χρησιμοποιησα.
Tools and materials I propose:
Σε αυτό το video δείχνω τα βασικά για ξυλογλυπτική με ηλεκτρικά εργαλεία τύπου ντρέμελ. In this video I talk about the basics on wood carving with electric power rotary tools.

Woodturning a hollow vessel with carved elements
Tools and materials I propose:
PROXXON Longneck Angle Grinder
In this video I make a hollow vessel with carved elements out of poplar.
I begun by cutting my blank on the bandsaw.
I then turned it true between centres and created the tenon for my chuck.
I shaped my piece and then drilled my depth hole.
I started hollowing with my bowl gouge. I also used the hook tool and side scrapper.
I then divided my piece and started carving the elements.
Finally I cleaned the bottom and applied a coat of mineral oil.
And it was ready. I am really happy with the result. See you soon with a new project video.

Woodturning and wood carving a spiralling candle holder
Tools and materials I propose:
PROXXON Longneck Angle Grinder
In this video I make this spiralling form out of poplar.
I begun by trueing the piece between centres and then I turned a tenon for the chuck.
After shaping the exterior form with a bowl gouge I drilled the interior with a forstner bit.
I then used my dividing set up and marked my spirals.
I started removing material with my carving grinder.
I then used a v shaped rasp bit on my rotary tool to finish shaping.
Then using my sanding blocks I sanded the piece.
After parting the piece off the lathe I carved the bottom with three legs.
Finally I applied a coat of mineral oil.
I am very happy with the result, but that was it. See you soon with a new project video.

Spiralling tear woodturning sculpture
Tools and materials I propose:
PROXXON Longneck Angle Grinder
In this video I experimented with this spiralling form on the lathe. The wood I used is platani and had some kind of spalted texture.
I begun by turning the basic shape of my form. This was basically bowl gouge work.
I then used my dividing system to divide my pieces in segments. This way I could easily draw the spirals.
I then started remove material with my carving grinder and my rotary tool.
I then carved my shape with more detail and sanded it.
I also carved four legs on the bottom.
I finished the piece with mineral oil.
And that was it. See you soon with a new project video.

Woodturning and carving a poplar vase
Tools and materials I propose:
In this video I make a face shaped vase out of poplar wood.
I begun by squaring my stock on the jointer planer and the table saw.
Then I found my centre points.
I removed as much material as I could on the bandsaw and table saw.
I used a hand plane to clean the saw marks.
Then I mounted the piece between centres on the lathe and turned the points I wanted.
Then I drilled the vase hole on the lathe using a forstner bit.
I used a cone on my chuck and flipped the piece over to make the bottom concave so it sits nicely on a flat surface.
I then used my rotary tool to power carve the face.
I also used files and chisels where ever I had to.
Then I added some texture using my rotary tool.
Finally I applied a coat of sealer and buffed it on the wheel with carnauba wax.
And that was it. My little vase is ready. See you soon with a new project video.

How to make a kuksa on the lathe - Woodturning
Tools and materials I propose:
Pyrography Pen Wood Burning Kit
In this video I make a kuksa mug on the lathe. Usually this is made using hand carving knives. But I thought it would be a good challenge to make it on a lathe. It actually involved a few really interesting techniques. I made it out of basswood.
I begun by preparing my stock on the planer and table saw.
With this this technique I will actually have two blanks after the first stage of woodturning.
After preparing my two blanks I added a few guide lines. I also had to consider the pieces of wood that would had to be removed because of tool marks from the chuck and tailstock.
To glue the two pieces together I added a piece of paper in between. This would help me separate the pieces later on.
At this point I started turning the outer shape of my kuksa. Once I was ready I split the two blanks in half with a chisel.
The I took one blank and put it on a screw chuck to make a tenon on the other side.
I then chucked it on the jaws and hollowed it out with a bowl gouge.
To clean the bottom I used my bowl bottom cleaning jaws.
Next I did some fine tunings on the shape with a carving knife.
I carved a flower on it’s handle and used my wood burner to decorate it.
Finally I buffed the mug with carnauba wax.
And my kuksa was ready.
It was a really interesting project, but that was it.
See you soon with a new project video.
