Coloring with Pencils.

Hello Crafty Family; Sharette here with you for this month's post.. I have a really quick post to share with you ALL today.. I still have not sat to even try to make any kind of cards or scrap page.. But I have found time here and there to carve out a little coloring. Here are 3 images from Simply Betty Stamps.. I know you have seen a lot of her work.. But I am a creature of habits, and basically if I find something I like; I stick with it. LOL

Here is my first one. Perfect Curls Betty.. They are ALL digis that I printed on white card stock an colored with my Prisma colored Pencils.
This one is Powder Puff Betty.. I just love her sassy little pose with her powder and puff and her little sexy bustier. These images are really not for cards. I plan on putting a coloring book or binder with images from all of my favorite stamp and artist company.   I often right the colors that I am using so that I can have them as reference.
And last but NOT least. My favorite of the group. " All Polished Up Betty". This little lady is soo me, as I am a LOVER of anything nail polish. I love her hair and cute bows. Yes I did add a little glitter to all of them It would Not BE me if I didn't.

These again are not for cards or tutorial.. Just what I have been doing to try and keep the coloring thing going. I hope you all enjoyed taken a look and as always, if you have any questions or comments. Please leave them below.

Happy Crafting.

Colored pencils comperison and review

Hello crafty Friends Sharette here with my monthly post.. I wanted to bring a little tutorial and comparison to the two different brand of colored pencils that I use as my medium.. If you have followed me and my coloring you will know that my favorite and go to medium is my colored pencils. My main go to was and still is my Prisma Colored Pencils. Y'all know I am a prisma Girl.. I purchased a 120 set of Spectrum Noir colored pencils last year and I have been enjoying learning to use those as well.. So I thought I would do a little coloring comparison with the Two brands.

I used this little cutie "Curly Sue" from Simply Betty Stamps. She is the perfect head shots to use to practice coloring skin and hair. because really that's all she is. She is a digi that I printed on Card stock. I printed her 4 times on one sheet.
Starting with my Prisma Colored pencils. Prisma are wax based pencils so the colors are soo smooth and just blend really nicely.. I do use my pencils with OMS (odorless Mineral Spirits) and blending stumps. for AA skin my go to color combo are : 1080 Beige Sienna, 945 Sienna Brown, 946 Dark Brown, 947 Dark Umber and to add highlights I used 1013 Deco Peach.
Here she is all blending and getting my shading and high lights in..
For her hair I went with Black and again my go to colors are: 935 Black 1053 Warm Gray 70%, 1050 Warm Gray 50% and 1063 Cool Gray 50 %. For the hair I always start with my darkest color. Using little flicking motion I go over all her curls and folds where its much darker.
Here she is with the second color added right below the darkest color again still using the flicking motion and coming out a little bit more.
Here She is all colored up! eyes. 941 Light Umber Cheeks 928 Blush Pink and 930 Magenta, Lips: 930 Magenta and 944 Henna, Dress: 1003 Spanish Orange and 1034 Golden Rod
For this one I colored her with my Spectum Noir. Now they are very popular with their Markers. But also has a set of 120 colored pencils.. Spectrum Noir pencils and both Wax and Oil based. which is also great.. The colors are also smooth and easy to blend. Sorry their is no specific names for them. Only Numbers.. I am still practicing and learning so. I can't say I have a specific set of skin color. But this is what I am using as for now. 89,91,95,104,109 with *004 for my high lights.

He she is colored up.. for her hair Black: 120,119,116,114
Here she is completed. checks:27, lips, 25, Dress. 15,19,21 (I for got to color her eyes.. but you can used it to identify her as the Spectrum Noir.
And here they are side by side.. Looking at them I like the skin tone on the Spectrum Noir girl,, and I like the hair on the Prisma girl. I hope you have enjoyed and if your maybe thinking about trying either or both, hope full It had given  you some ideas and comparison. As always please feel free to leave any comments or questions below. I have created several detailed tutorial on colored pencils (with my Prisma pencils) so if you feel like I missed or skipped over something please just scroll through the blog and see if you find them.

A little Trick and Treat

Hello my wonderful crafty friends, Sharette here with my monthly post; but before I do that I have  to say "Happy Anniversary to Tiara and SOC wow 10 years that's  along time in any form; yet alone in the crafting world. We all know it's because of supporters and fellow crafters such as you all.
With Halloween just a few days away of course I wanted to do a. "Halloween card"  I used a dig from one of my favorite site "Simply Betty Stamps"  this is "Devilish Betty Boo"  she is a digi I printed her out and colored her with my Prisma colored pencils, I added some glitter to her tail and horns and her sparkling drink.  Cars srock is from PTI. DPI and doily are from recollections from Michaels. The cute banner is a sticker from "jokers boutique." Sentiment came with the digi.
Here is a close up of her. She is just so sassy and cute to me.  Now it's your turn; if you have any "holloween or Harvest projects that you want to share I would love to see them. Or if you have any comments or questions; please feel free to leave a comment. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the month.

Creating with Julie Nutting Doll Stamps

Okay, I'm not really an image stamper. Sure, I've made cards and I have stamped on many of my layouts but that was mainly using sentiment, words or phrases and maybe a flower or two...you know the easy stuff. So when I decided that I just had to have all the great new doll stamps I knew it would require me to do a little more than just stamping.

I knew I would have to get markers or colored pencils if I wanted to create something with a little more color to them. But I found out that I don't have a lot of patience for sitting and coloring for long periods plus I didn't know a thing about how to get just the right color shades for skin or hair. So when I saw a post on SOC about using Gamsol with color pencils I knew that would work for me.

Here are two tags I made using doll stamp "Taylor" and "Shay". For Shay I actually did the coloring with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. For Taylor I stamped on patterned paper, cut out the pieces and layered them on top of another stamp of the same doll. I also did the skin tone and hair color using the color pencils and Gamsol technique.

I still need more practice with coloring  and blending but like how they turned out for my first try.

How About a little Bon Bon!

Hello my fellow crafty friends. Let me start my post with wishing you ALL a very Happy New Year.  As this is my first post for the New Year with the SOC family. I am sending blessings and joy for the coming year and many more after that. I am so glad to be back with you all. Have you checked out all the great happenings here on the SOC blog.  I can tell you that we are going to have a fabulous year, bringing you fun and exciting things to come.
I was so happy to get my post ready for this month. As I have not picked up my coloring pencils for the last few weeks. My kids have been home for their winter break and getting them back in to the regular routine of  school, has left me little time for my favorite hobby. I wanted to share a new digi that I picked up from "Simple Betty Stamp".   If you follow my blog you will know that I am a HUGE fan of hers and she has some of the cutest, quarkie little stamps.

This is CutieCupid Betty. She is one sassy little lady. Perfect for that special Valentine don't you think!! I colored her with my Prisma colored Pencils and OMS (Oder less Mineral Spirits). She is wearing stockings. I tried to make it like "fishnet" stockings, but I can use a little practice with that. lol.

Here is my card that I made with her. I started off with cream card stock from PTI.  DP is from Echo Park. I used my Martha Stewart heart punch and added a little hand made button.

I hope you enjoyed seeing her, as I had fun coloring her. If you have any questions or comments please leave them. I love hearing from you.

Happy Crafting,

Sharette
