Mixed Media Shabby Chic Steampunk Junk Journal

Sometimes getting all painty and messy is all part of the fun of making art, this is what a junk journal is all about.  There is no reason, rhyme, or way to do it - you just create and go where you want to with it.  You can use anything and everything in your journal.  Really it is just what inspires you, a chance to really just create with no boundaries!

This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Check out my video tutorial below!!

Make sure to check out all the other amazing designs using A Vintage Girl products from the wonderfully talented DCC designers.  Click on the link HERE or the graphic below to see them all!!

I started with the A Vintage Girl chipboard items to create this junk journal, and the journal is part of it too!!  My front cover is filled with layers of stencils, bling, flowers, papers, and just steampunk fun!!

I then moved onto the 2nd and 3rd pages.  The back cover of the front page is more like a scrapbook layout, but instead of pictures, they are cut outs from a 6x6 scrapbook paper.  The 3rd page is a section of the A Vintage Girl book that looks like a gear.  I added paint and layers of metal elments until it felt right.

For the 4th page, I gave a bit of relief just just painting the the chipboard and adding a layer of stencil work.  The 5th page is another layered mixed media page fill with elements of all types, really playing up that huge gear chipboard item from A Vintage Girl.

Junk journals are so freeing, and the best part is I can always add more to this book by just opening up the binder rings.  I only used half of the original book, so plenty left to still create!!

There is also this fabulous prize you can win from A Vintage Girl! Visit Designers Crafts Connection to find out how you can win.

"Wings" Mixed Media Steampunk Bottle **Creative Embellishments & Canvas Corp Brands**

I love to get my hands dirty and just play with the mediums I have on hand.  My inspiration came when we finished our bottle of maple syrup and thought I could alter that, it had such a nice flat front perfect to layer things onto it!!  I have had it sitting on my desk for the past 2 months waiting for the perfect spark to take me to the next step with it.  I then got my batch of Creative Embellishment chippies and in it were some steampunk wings - perfect!!  The last piece fell into place when I got the Tattered Angels Cruising Calendar kit of Glimmer Mists, I know had the perfect colors to go with my idea.  Now to make it!!

Here is the complete process video from empty bottle with the labels peeled off to completing.

Below are the amazing supplies I used to create the colors and some of the little bits and bobs that helped bring this piece to life.
