DIY Etched Hula Themed Drink Cocktail Glasses

Summer parties are the best, and so are the fun cocktails that you have at the parties!!  So why not make the glasses a bit of fun for this fun event!!

This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Check out the video to see how to make these fun cocktail glasses!!!

I first stared out etching the Dollar Tree glasses with Etchall creme and vinyl to make the V at the top of the glass mimicking a shirt.

I then took some Expo trims fringe and flowers to make the hula skirt at the bottom of the glass.  The fun part is these little hula skirt are reusable (as is the Etchall creme) so you can use this for more then one party!!!

Just check out the etching on the glass, it is so fun and easy!!

These little hula skirts also work as a fun way to make sure know whose glass is whose if you make each color of fringe and flower different!!!

DIY Pompom Stick Tree Decor

I love a craft that is super simple and easy that take a few minutes and simple supplies to make a huge wow statement.  This is also a decor idea that be done year round, just change up the colors of the pompoms!!

I was compensated for this post. This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Check out how easy this is to make yourself.

Start with a few tree branches you either find on a walk, in your backyard, or from a friend.  Clean them up and make sure they are dry branches, not green ones or full of sap.

I used some pompom trim and cut off the pompoms because I had it in my stash, but you can also just buy pompom, or make them yourself!

I glued each pompom on using Supertite All Purpose Adhesive.  Is has a good tack to it so the pompom stick with just a little pressure and I do not have to deal with a hot glue gun and burn myself.

Coupon for 10% off your Supertite order of $5 or more

I used 3 different colors for this tree, and I used yellow, red, and orange, but really you can make this for any season and with any colors you want!!  Think of the colors for a wedding, any season of the year - ideas are endless!!

I love this super easy decor item, it rests permanently in my craft studio to cheer up the space a bit!

6 Crafty Ideas to Support the Teal Pumpkin Project for an Allergy Safe Halloween

A friend of mine has a daughter with severe allergies, down to 28 foods!  Until you are around or have allergies yourself you don not realize how food centered all our holidays are, one in particular is Halloween.  Imagine being a little kid and not being able to have any of the fun items you went trick or treating for because eating them could kill you?!?!  Easy alternative is to offer kids with allergies a toy instead!!  But how to they know you offer non candy items?  Place a teal pumpkin or a sign saying you offer non candy treats and done!!  Check the variety of different ways you can show off your Allergy Awareness for Halloween.

Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

1) DIY Teal Felt Rustic Pumpkin

Using some teal felt, a pieces of wood, and some glue to you can make a super easy teal pumpkin to place at your front door.  Check out how easy it is to make this in the video below.

2) Painted Dollar Tree Glam Teal Pumpkin

I used the dollar store pumpkin as the base which is made from foam and super light.  The paint took to it like a charm!!  I gave the pumpkin 2 coats of paint letting it dry between each coat, then painted the stem black.  I could not just paint a pumpkin and leave it, so I added some black shading in the grooves and then spiced up the top with some black and tan raffia and some gold glittered balls.

3) Teal Pumpkin Card

Maybe you do not live in an area where you pass out candy or you do not have any kids that come by your house, but you still support the idea of an allergy friendly Halloween, then make a card.  Maybe it is just for you, or maybe you have a friend that you know has an allergy that you can give it to.  Get you crafty on and support the Teal Pumpkin Project!

4) Teal Pumpkin Plastic Bucket

I also thought not only use the teal pumpkin at your house to give away non candy/food items but carry one around with you if you have the food allergy!!  So I took a plastic McDonald's Halloween bucket and painted teal, use a jack-o-lantern Cricut cutout on with black cardstock, add some back trim to the top, and then use Mod Podge in a mat finish to seal it all in.

I painted both the inside and out, and the paint did an amazing job of covering up the Scooby-Doo and the gang!  You can also use the as your house pumpkin and actually put the non food items you are giving away

5) Teal Pumpkin Project Sign

Another alternative to painting a pumpkin for your house is to put up a sign.  There are many signs you can find, there are a couple examples below.  I used a printable I found from www.foodallergy.org and used CCB papers starting with printing it on kraft cardstock, matting it on white cardstock, adding a black horizontal border, and then misting white cardstock with TA Mist in Dragonfly for the background.  I then slid the sign into the Deflecto 9 x12 Plastic Wall Art Display Frame to keep it from getting damaged.  My sign will sit outside by the front door on Halloween for those kids who need an alternative to candy for Halloween!!

Here are some other signs that you can print and put up for our food allergy kids!!

So how can you support the kids and parents with food allergies?  Pass out a few non food items in a separate treat bowl, such as:

  • glow sticks
  • plastic rings
  • pencils
  • stickers
  • tattoos
  • pennies
  • stamps
