Carolina Hurricanes' defenceman Bret Hedican and wife Kristi Yamaguchi are
moving their family to northern California this summer and he's looking for a
new job, says a report in the Raleigh News and Observer.
That would seem to limit his options to the San Jose Sharks, though
there is no word on whether that club would have any interest. ~cbc.ca

Kristi Yamaguchi Did It!!!
Kristi was crowned ABC's Dancing With the Stars champion last night! The fans' votes were just as important asthe judges' votes in determining who would be the winner.
After four consecutive male winners on "Dancing With the Stars," it was finally ladies' night. Kristi Yamaguchi was named the new "Dancing" champ on the show's season finale, becoming the first woman to win the ABC dance-off since its inaugural season. The figure skater came into the final contest Tuesday with a perfect score and bested fan favorites Jason Taylor and Cristian de la Fuente
to claim the mirrorball trophy."This is definitely for all those women out there to continue to be strong," she said after the show, hoisting the prize above her head~AP News

YEAH Kristi Yamaguchi!!!
Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi will be honored with the Sonya Henie Award.
She'll receive the award at the annual Professional Skaters
Association awards dinner on May 22 in Chicago. The honor is one of several EDI awards, a tribute to Edi Scholdan, an Olympic coach and the first president of the Professional Skaters Association.
Sixteen years after she won the gold medal, Yamaguchi remains one of the most recognizable athletes in the sport.

Update: Kristi Yamaguchi
Although Kristi Yamaguchi is still in the running on ABC's Dancing With the Stars, she is no longer in first place. Kristi and her partner, Mark Ballas, have been using very difficult moves in their routines.
Kristi's husband, Brett Hedican, has been her biggest fan as she continues to advance in each round of the competition. As the field grows more narrow, it will be harder for each contestant to pull ahead. These are the best that are left.
Good luck, Krisiti!!! We are still behind you 100%!!

Kristi Yamaguchi Update
Kristi again gave the best dance and for the first time managed to be not
just technically precise but genuinely expressive in her routine. The
in-training scenes of her family's visit with her two young daughters were sweet
and touching, so, fine. She's still unfairly advantaged in this amateur
competition... DWTS: Halfway TomMaurstad

Kristi Yamaguchi Trains at Raleigh Studio for 'Dancing With the Stars'
North Carolina resident and Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi has traded in her skates for dancing shoes.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that the gold medalist is training at a Raleigh dance studio as she prepares for "Dancing With the Stars." The new season of the ABC
reality show begins March 17.
Yamaguchi said she's anxious. She's working with professional ballroom dancer Mark Ballas, and the two are starting with
the fox-trot during two-hour practice sessions. Ballas said he is helping Yamaguchi adjust her skater habits, such as learning to point her toes without constrictive skates.
Yamaguchi's husband, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Bret
Hedican, said his wife has sacrificed a lot for him in the last four years, and
he is excited about being able to support her.
