Copenhagen Template For Today's Freebie

If you have been following my blog all along (since its conception last November) then you are aware of the trip we took to Denmark last year to visit our friends Ambassador and Mrs. Jim Cain.

The Copenhagen Template features another picture from that trip. You can also use the Denmark Template from the Countries of the World Template Series to display other photos from your trip.

I have some more of my Copenhagen pictures in another layout using my Flourish Template if you missed them all of the other times I have posted them. LOL

The Copenhagen Template features an overlay of the Little Mermaid statue located in the Copenhagen harbor.

Copenhagen might be one of those places that you say to yourself, "I should go there," but you never really make plans to do that. I HIGHLY recommend you make a point of traveling there. It is a wonderful city full of history and "atmosphere."

We went in September and the weather was wonderful. Not too cold, and not too hot. We had beautiful sunny days where the sky was SO blue. It looked stunning aganst the back drop of Nyhavn (featuring the rows of colorful buildings in the picture I used for this layout.)

Iceland Template Freebie

As part of our trip to Denmark last year to visit U.S. Ambassador and Mrs. Jim Cain, we spent a few nights in Iceland. We flew non-stop from Orlando/Sanford airport to Reychavik, Iceland.

As part of the Icelandair package, we were able to stop in Iceland for a few days as a continuation of the same ticket to Denmark. We didn't have to buy seperate tickets.

While we were in Iceland we took the Golden Circle tour which consisted of the largest waterfall in the country, geisers and the site of the very first parliment in Iceland. We also saw where the tectonic plates for North America and Asia come together. It really is Middle Earth there.

When I was young I didn't just sit around saying, "I simply HAVE to vist Iceland when I grow up," but WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. You simply have to go! I just wish our trip could have been closer to the time that the viewing of the Northern Lights was possible.

Template Freebie: Denmark

Well, after several days of Final Four downloads, it is back to the Countries of the World Template Series. Today's offering is the Denmark template.

My finace', Jeff, and I were very lucky to be able to stay for several nights at the home of the US Ambassador when we visited Denmark last fall. I actually slept in the same bed that Bill Clinton had once slept in. (I'm glad they told me that on the last morning there and not the first night...LOL)

My layout for this template shows Jeff in front of Rydhave, the official name of the the estate. During WWII the house was occupied by the head of the German forces in Denmark, Dr. Werner Best. His piano still stands in the first floor of the house.

Dr. Best surrendered the German's hold on Denmark at the end of the war in the room that is now used as a living room. It was undescribable the feeling you got knowing the history of the house. We even went into the bunker that Dr. Best had built under the house. It has been converted into a kind of family room where the Ambassador's 2 daughters watch tv, play ping pong and surf on their computers!

I have another layout I made with pictures from our trip. I used my Flourish Template.

I'm so excited! Yesterday for the first time I had one of my designs reach 500 downloads! It seems that my Cedar Chest Set is by far the most popular design I have offered.

Well, here it is, my new template, Flourish Template. It was made using a mask from "SG" for the frames.

The pictures were taken on our trip to Denmark this past September. We are fortunate to know the US Ambassador to Denmark, Jim Cain and his wonderful wife, Helen from when we lived in North Carolina. We stayed at the Ambassador's residence while we were in Copenhagen.

One day I will do a picture layout of the beautiful mansion, Rydhave, which is the official residence of the US Ambasssador and his family. I'm still trying to paper scrap that trip!
