So Suave at Frosted Designs!

Hi all! If you are looking for my Frosted Designs Blog Hop post, CLICK HERE!

I'm here today to share two layouts I created with the awesome Suave collection from Authentique which is available in the Frosted Designs store! The holiday season is upon us and for me, the holidays are all about family. So in the spirit of this, I wanted to scrap two of my favorite photos of my little guy from our family photo session back in February. I also really love scrapping these photos using this particular collection because all the masculine-themed images and sentiments are great for scrapping my toddler and I love that the blues and grays in this collection coordinate perfectly with the outfits we are wearing!

My first layout features one of my favorite photos from this shoot! I love all the different patterns in this collection, and wanted to feature several of them on this layout, so I created a grid photo mat using five different papers. I also used a sixth patterned piece of paper for my background, making sure it was an understated pattern and also leaving a bit of a cardstock border around the entire page. I added interest to the background paper by splattering some mist and liquid pearls in two corners of the page. I accented the page with one of the Suave die-cut title sentiments, a Details sticker sentiment and several of the Circles and Scallops die-cuts. Then I added some Studio Calico wood veneers covered in black Stickles. Lastly, I stitched an embroidery floss circle frame around the photo, making sure Liam was in the bullseye of the circle.

My second layout is of Liam and I goofing around during the shoot. I again kept with a sort of grid pattern here and also matted my photo on cardstock to help it pop off all the patterned paper. I included several die-cuts and stickers from the collection and finished off the page by accenting several of the the blue polka dots on the background with buttons from my stash.

And here are some closeups for you!

I hope these layouts inspire you to document those precious family moments! Hope you have a great weekend and happy scrapping!

So Suave with Authentique!

Hello all! It's my turn over on the Frosted Designs blog today!

So, when I was originally planning this post, my intention was to use totally different product. Then, one late night, I found myself browsing through the store and I stumbled upon the Authentique Suave collection. I just couldn't resist the awesome shades of blues, greens and grays in this line along with the vintage patterns and nostalgic little boy images and sayings. Being the mom of a 2-year-old boy, I just knew I could put this collection to good use. Both of my layouts feature photos from a professional photo session done a couple months ago and we wore outfits in various shades of blue and gray, which was perfect for coordinating with this line!

This first layout is of my little guy, Liam, and my husband, Andrew. I knew I wanted to pull the lime green out from the collection to help highlight the pop of green in the photo from the grass behind them. I also love that the train tracks in this photo add to the vintage, nostalgic vibe of this collection. I started with the bright green leaf American Crafts cardstock and the woodgrain paper then built my layout up from there. I splattered the background with some navy blue mist, kept adding layers and elements to my clusters and finished with some of the wood veneer stars that I had tinted with blue patina mist. Oh, and see the blue circle behind the upper left corner of the large sentiment die-cut? That is actually one of the other die-cut circles from the collection, flipped over. Authentique was so smart and put a subtle print on the back of all the die-cuts in the collection so that if one contains an image or saying that isn't to your liking, you can just flip it over and use the backside - pure genius on their part!

Here are some closeups. I really like how the blue patina mist gives the stars just a bit of tint and shimmer and I love how easy it was to color the Heidi Swapp resist alphas with the navy blue mist to get a perfect match for my page.

My second layout is one of my favorite photos of Liam from the photo session. Because I love this shot so much, I wanted to keep the layout fairly clean and simple so the photo could really shine. I decided to go for a grid-style design and, along with the photo, wanted the awesome black diamond print paper be the star. I also opted for an extra-large title using the corrugated Thickers in Robin's Egg which perfectly match this collection.

And now for some closeups of this layout. I love all the cardstock stickers in this collection and had a tough time choosing which ones to use on this page. This time around, I colored my wood veneers with some aqua and black pigment ink for a richer, deeper color.

So, there you have it. My first two layouts with the Authentique Suave collection! I have to say, besides liking the colors, prints and theme of this particular collection, I really love Authentique's heavy-weight, textured papers. I am so excited to create even more with this fabulous line!

Documenting July/August at Memorable Seasons

So, I am still going strong with my Project 12 and Project Life catchup.

I decided to do Project 12 for 2011 and 2012 and then switch over to Project Life for 2013. Well, I am "behind" with both projects. But, with the creation of the layout below, I am happy to say I only have five more months to document until I am finished with Project 12 completely. Project Life - well, I am weeks behind in that. But, I am diligent about writing down daily notes and then at the end of each week, writing up a weekly recap as well as gathering all my digital photos in a folder on my computer for that week. So, when it's time to play catchup, I'm organized and already have everything written down so nothing is forgotten. This way, I don't stress out as much about being behind.

So today I am going to share with you another fabulous Page Maps sketch that's perfect for documenting Project 12 or any other layout where you have lots of photos to include...

And here is my July 2012 Project 12 layout that I created based on the above sketch and using my Memorable Seasons July Authentique Pride Design Team Kit...

So now for your challenge. Create a layout (about any topic) using the sketch above as inspiration!

The rules:
* Create a new project for this challenge.
* Upload your layout in the gallery and link back to this forum post by August 31st for a chance in the monthly prize drawing.

Back for a Second Round at Memorable Seasons!

Hello all! I am thrilled to announce I have the opportunity to serve a second term on the Memorable Seasons Design Team! I hope I am able to continue to inspire you in the months to come and also be inspired by you in return!

This month I had the pleasure of working with Authentique for the very first time as I was sent their Pride collection. Authentique tends to skew to a vintage style, which isn't usually me, but I really had a good time challenging myself with this atypical-for-me collection. I not only used it for a Fourth of July layout but for a couple patriotic-themed layouts and a congratulations card. If you haven't had a chance to check out this collection yet for yourself, you can find it here in the Memorable Seasons store!

And here's the kit I received...

And the backsides...

And of course I bought some extras...

And now I get to share what I created with this kit!

When I saw the Statue of Liberty and liberty sentiment stickers, I knew right away I wanted to document my visit to the monument back in 2010...

I really wanted to make sure I used some of the fun cut-outs from the "Privilege" paper, and the "Greetings from Washington DC" title block just popped out and I decided to document a trip to the Washington Monument. I wanted to include some basic information about the monument that I found on Wikipedia, but didn't want it to be front and center, so I tucked it behind the papers and photos...

Of course, I had to include Liam somewhere. These photos were taken last Fourth of July...

And lastly, I created a congratulations card with one of the quote stickers...

So now, your challenge is to scraplift me in any way that you have been inspired by the above projects! Please remember to...
