Echo Park ~ I Love Fall #1 🎃

Hi everyone, it’s Anna back with you today.
Well the weather has finally turned colder and now seems like the perfect time to start scrapping Autumn! So with that said, for my next two posts I’ll be working with Echo Park’s latest autumnal collection - I Love Fall. You can find it in the shop here

I used the b side of plump pumpkins as my base, which I gutted as I knew I’d just be using it for a boarder. I then trimmed down a sheet of white bazzill cardstock by roughly an inch each side. I adhered the cardstock to ‘plump pumpkins’ and then made some sewing holes ready for stitching later.

I wanted to create a multi photo layout to use lots of pictures from a recent trip to a pumpkin patch. I had so many to use, I wanted to be able to include lots of my favourite ones.
I mounted them with various patterned papers from the collection as well as some orange bazzill from the matchmaker pack. I also selected a frame from the ephemera icons to mount one of my photos.

I tore an area out of my cardstock at the top left and the bottom right side. I then filled in the gap using ‘crisp fall air’ and added some fussy cut florals from ‘fall flowers

When I was happy with how my photos were laid out, I added a few stickers from the element stickers filling in gaps and tucking them in and around my photos. I also added a few elements from the ephemera icons pack

I cut out a journaling box from the 4x4 journaling cards and trimmed it down to make a box to do some journaling.

Finally, I added my stitching around the edge of the cardstock.

Thanks so much for looking!
See you next time with another layout using this collection.

August Papermaze Kit - Part 1

Hello, Lynn here today, with the Papermaze kit for the month of August. Full of tropical papers, card and embellishments. For my first post I decided to make a double page layout to feature a flamingo themed BBQ my daughter and her husband held. This was when the lockdown rules started to change in August 2020, and we could meet outside in groups of six.

Before looking at how the layout was made, here is what you will find in the kit.

Patterned Papers:
Prima Marketing Inc. - Postcards from Paradise collection - Floral Paradise & Tropical Vibes
Pinkfresh Studio - Sunshine on my Mind collection - Love This Day & Paradise Found
Pinkfresh Studio - Tourist Mode collection - Sightseeing
49 and Market - Spectrum Gardenia collection - Classics Pink Skies
Bazzill Basics - Avalanche & Aqua

Reverse side of papers

Embellishments: 10 Prima Ephemera Pieces, Prima Harmony Flower, 4 Prima Chipboard phrase stickers, 49 and Market Color Swatch Blossom Tickets Essential, enamel flamingo charm, 5 Doodlebug puffy heart stickers, Rosie's Studio Puffy Scatter Stickers, Pinch of Pinkfresh Studio Jewel Essentials, 2 Rosie's Studio chipboard frames.

Extra Bazzill Basics Pack: Pastel Blue, Watermelon Sensation, Ivy & Pinkini.

For this layout I used a sketch by Allison Davis, for Scrapbook & Cards Today Papercraft Magazine. It is Allison's #4 sketch in the 2023 Summer collection.

To start the process, I created the background for both pages at the same time. I used two sheets of scrap 12" x 12" paper. I the trimmed the patterned papers and cardstock and stuck them to the scrap papers. I created 12" horizontal bands using the following depth measurements - from top to bottom and the same on both pages:

2" Floral Paradise paper
2 1/2" Pastel Blue Bazzill
1/2" Floral Paradise paper
2 1/2" Pinkini Bazzill
1/2" Floral Paradise paper
2 1/2" Pastel Blue Bazzill
1 1/2" Floral Paradise paper

The patterned paper has gold foiling detail, so I wanted to stitch between the bands with gold metallic thread. I used the sewing machine without thread to make a very large zig-zag stitch, which I then stitched by hand.

Six of my photos were mounted with a variety of White, Watermelon Sensation and Pinkini Bazzill.  I then fussy cut a flamingo and balloon from another photo and added them to the photo I had chosen for the bottom right of the layout.

From the 'Tropical Vibes' paper I cut two of the 3" x 4" cards, for my journalling and date and these were placed between the two landscape photos on the right-hand page.

There is a delightful enamel flamingo charm in the kit, which I hang from a length of Baker's twine and wrapped around the first photo of the left-hand page. With Tim Holtz Modern Floristry Thinlits Sizzix die set, I created clusters of leaves and flowers which I placed in various places over the layout. I used the reverse side of both patterned papers to cut the pieces and inked the edges with Distress Inks. With some 3D foam pads, some of the flower parts were raised up off the base of the page. I tucked in a few fluffy lime green feathers among the clusters.

With Tim's Gladys Sizzix Thinlits die set, I created two flamingos from Bazzill and added one to each page.

The title was created with Simply Charming puffy alpha stickers from Rosie's Studio, and Lindsay glitter Thickers.

I scattered Pinkfresh Studio Jewel Essentials - Ocean Breeze over the blue bands of the pages.

That's all for today, back with more another day.
Thanks for looking.

Cocoa Vanilla Studio ~ Happy Days #2 🌈

Hi all, it’s Anna back with you today!
I’m here to share my second layout with Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s Happy Days Collection.
It is such a bright, happy and summery collection, I love it!
You can find it all in the shop here

For this layout I pulled out the Rainbow Bright paper. I decided to trim the rainbow down a little so I had a bit more room on my layout. So I cut the darker pink strip of the rainbow off and trimmed the inner white section of the paper out too.
I took inspiration from one of the journalling cards and added a sunshine behind the rainbow. To do this I just cut out a circle using yellow cardstock from the matchmaker pack and some thin strips to make the sun rays.

I cut a couple of the sections of rainbow out and distressed the edges before sticking it back in place again. I then picked a few of the colours to add some stitching to with a matching coloured thread. I used different stitches for each one, matching the patterns on the rainbow.

I backed my 6x4 photo onto coordinating coloured cardstock from the matchmaker pack and placed it slightly off centre.
I then fussy cut some florals from ‘Lush Blooms’, some elements from ‘Feel Good’ and some pieces from the ‘accessory stickers’ and tucked them in opposite corners around my photo.

I fussy cut the word ‘sunshine’ from ‘definitive’ but you can also buy the ‘chipboard stickers’ which are lovely too and mean that you can create your own title.

To finish, I fussy cut a couple of butterflies from ‘flutterby’ and adhered them to my layout.

Thanks so much for looking!
I have one more layout to share with this collection before I move on to a new one.

See you for that soon!

May Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today with two more layouts made using the Papermaze Kit for May. A collection of pretty pastel papers, embellishments and cardstock. There is stitching on both layouts, hand stitching and machine stitching. Here are my layouts followed by what's in the kit and how I made them.

This is what you will find in the kit:

Patterned papers:

Crate Paper - Gingham Garden collection - Alight & In The Shade
Stamperia - Welcome Home collection - Clocks
P13 - Have Fun collection - #03
American Crafts - Maggie Holmes - Woodland Grove collection - Fresh Blossoms
Heidi Swapp - Set Sail collection - Small Ledgers
Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Coconut Swirl & Coastal

Reverse side of papers

Embellishments:
strip of pearls, P13 chipboard embellishments, 2 diecut pieces, 2 Rosie's Studio  butterfly embellishments, 1/3rd sheet Crate Paper Gingham Garden - Happy Life Phrase Thickers, 9 chipboard pieces, green twine, 2 P13 Decorative Tags, strip puffy heart stickers.

Extra Bazzill Basics Pack - Pinkini, Aloe Vera, Peach Creme & Twill

Tea Cups - This photo of the children enjoying a spin in the teacups on the seafront at Lowestoft.

For this layout I flicked watered down, Distress Paint over some white Bazzill. Then, I tried something new, a Paige Evans Cutfile for Stitching. It cuts tiny stitch holes in the shape of the design, ready to stitch. I then stitched all the circles in chain stitch, using different shades of pink DMC thread, using all 6 strands. I trimmed this piece of card to measure 11 1/4" x 11 1/4". The edges were inked with Distress Ink in Kitsch Flamingo.

I made a frame from the floral side of 'Fresh Blossom' paper, I cut this 1" deep, and mounted the prepared stitched card over the frame.

The photo, together with two Doodlebug Designs Cupcake paper doilies and two mats cut from scraps of the 'Alight' paper, were arranged onto the layout.

I added the date and title using Doodlebug Designs Alphabet Soup stickers in Bubblegum and Cupcake.

Further embellishment was created with the Rosie's Studio butterfly embellishments and the puffy heart stickers from the kit.

Finally, I used Nuvo Glitter Drops - Sherbet Shimmer to add a little pink sparkle to the page.

Look At You Two - A photo from a trip to Los Angeles for a dance competition with my girls.

My base for this layout was the sheet of Coastal Bazzill. I used the paper called 'Have Fun' from P13. I cut through the white spaces between the radiating stripes of colour, Distressed and inked the edges (using Iced Spruce Distress Ink). Then I stitched them in position on the Bazzill with the sewing machine. I sprayed a little Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Spray over the finished background.

From the 'Small Ledgers' Heidi Swapp paper, I selected and cut three of the document style prints, I printed my photo to the same size as these pieces and arranged them in a fan across the layout.

I used several embellishments from the kit to decorate. The strip of pearls, the diecut pieces, Crate Paper Gingham Garden - Happy Life Phrase Thickers, some of the chipboard pieces, and the P13 Decorative Tags. I applied the little label plate with a couple of brads from my stash. I added journalling to one of the decorative tags. With Rosie's Studio Simply Charming Puffy Letter stickers, I placed the date and added to the title.

That's all from the May kit, I'll be back with the June kit soon.
Thanks for looking.

April Papermaze Kit - Part 2

Lynn here today with the second post sharing my layouts using the April Papermaze kit. The
two new layouts depict Easter fun, 25 years apart! The kit is full of pretty pastel papers, card and embellishments.

Here is what you will find in the kit, for more details please see the kit in the shop.

Patterned papers:
Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Life in Bloom collection - Celebrate Life & Shine Bright
49 & Market - Art Options Rouge collection - Coloured Foundations #1
Pinkfresh Studio - Spring Vibes collection - Daydreams
Photo Play - Bunnies and Blooms collection - Blooms
American Crafts - Paige Evans - Blooming wild collection - #20
Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Rain & Bazzill White

Embellishments:
6 buttons, 5 wooden hearts, 1 sheet Pinkfresh Studio mini puffy alpha stickers, 3 49 & Market chipboard pieces, Carta Bella chipboard frame, 2 Pinkfresh layered stickers, strip of pearls,  3 Rosie's Studio tickets, 4 Pinkfresh ephemera pieces.

Extra Bazzill Basics pack:
Yukon Gold, Silver Sage, Pink Icing & Lilac Swirl

Easter Bonnets - The children in their Easter Bonnets made for a school event, when they were five in 1997.

I chose the Pink Icing Bazzill as the base for this layout. With White Bazzill, I cut a large heart shape. With some rainbow-coloured thread, I worked blanket stitch around the outside of the shape. The heart was then glued to the Pink Bazzill.

My photos were mounted onto the Silver Sage Bazzill to create a narrow mat. These were arranged and stuck to the layout.

Then I cut a selection of multicoloured hearts from the
Blooming Wild paper #20 from Paige Taylor Evans. I arranged the hearts across the page, some were glued to the layout and others were raised a little with 3D foam pads. I used enough to spell out my title and the year. Then I scattered a few more hearts peeking out from under the large heart.

I cut the letters for my title using
Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits die set - Alphanumeric Bold. The paper I used was left over from my wreath page I made in the previous post using 'Celebrate Life' paper. I inked the edges of the small hearts and the letters.

I finished off the layout with embellishments from the kit - the buttons, wooden hearts and the die cut shapes.

What3words East Egg Hunt - Photos of my children and their partners when they visited here last Easter and I organised an egg hunt with what3words locations as clues to find the goodies. I made it a little trickier by making some words into anagrams.

For this layout I used a lot of the leftovers from the previous three layouts. Working on a colour block design, I started by placing colour onto a sheet of White Bazzill, dividing the page into four vertical bands. For each colour, I added two or three colours of Distress Oxide Ink to a craft mat, added a little water and dipped a piece of acetate to transfer the colour to the area of the page I wanted to colour. I protected the area I didn't want to get the colour with more acetate placed onto the cardstock. I dried each panel of colour before moving onto the next one. Once each area was dry, I flicked some more colour over the section with a paint brush, drying each one at a time as before.

I cut two tags for each of the four colour blocks, one from patterned paper and another from Bazzill. I used
Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits die set - Framed Tags. I also added reinforcement rings using the same die set. I threaded Divine Twine into the holes at the top of the tags, in four colours the march the tags.

I cut the title using Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits die sets - Alphanumeric Bold (for main title) and Label (for the smaller title and date).

I cut more of the stitched hearts from the Blooming wild paper #20, inked them and added them to the arrangement.

I added Bazzill eggs and a chick cut using Tim Holtz, Sizzix Thinlits die set - Papercut Chicks.

Using scraps from the 'Shine Bright' paper I cut a selection of butterflies in colours to match the tags and added them to the layout.

I found some decorative pins in my stash and added two to each area, together with some of the chipboard and die cut embellishments from the kit.

Finally, I scattered the pearls from the kit around the layout on the inked areas.

That's all for this kit, back soon with layouts from the May kit.
Thanks for looking
