Freebie - "Love Comes First"

Hey all!  It is Tuesday and that is Bit By the Bug day around here.  This week we have a brand new freebie available for you.  Naomi was feeling well enough to create a brand new image and today I get the honour of presenting it to all her wonderful readers.

Today I offer you, "Love Comes First".

Click HERE to get "Love Comes First".  Available from May 28th until June 3rd.  After that it will be replaced with the newest freebie.

This a great new image that will help all of you gear up for Father's Day which is fast approaching.  I'm sure many sons all around the world wished their hard working fathers had more time to spend with them, just as I am sure that most fathers wish they could toss around a ball with their son or go their games instead of staying late at work and taking care of business.  That is why this image is so endearing.

I hope you like it as much as I do.  You may have noticed that things are a little different this week for obtaining the freebie.  Since Naomi is feeling better she was able to link it up to the store.  Don't worry, it is still free and will remain so for the next week.  Just click where it says and it should take you to the correct download page in the store.

Naomi was feeling so well that she even had the opportunity to create this card to showcase her new image...

Here is a closer look at that sweet digi...

Didn't she do a fabulous job.  I just love the antiqued look around the image and all those really cool buttons with a bat and a couple baseballs thrown in for good measure.  The backdrop the image is sitting on itself is just so neat too.  The sentiment is just 'perfect' as well.  I've missed seeing my wonderful friend's creations and this one certainly does not disappoint.

I created a layout using Naomi's digi.  Now, granted this isn't my best work but what do I expect for trying to put it together at 3:00 in the morning.

Elements used to create this layout are from the 'Baseball Dreams' free kit downloaded from {Computer} Scrapbook.com.

Thank you so much to Naomi who took the time to not only create a brand spankin' new image for all of us but to also create a card too.

Well that is it for today.  In June there will be some new changes taking place on Creative Bug on the Loose so I hope you will all join Naomi and I on the weekend to learn what they are.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Black and White + 1 # 79

Hello!!

I hope you are all having a fantastic Saturday, it is that time again to challenge you over at HIMCR!
This weeks challenge is to make a project that is black and White with an additional color of your choice.
We can't wait to see what you will make, just link up after you take a look at what the design team has put together to inspire you, it will be at the end of the post.

For my project I made a black, white and weathered blue card.
Nothing is considered strange as to what you can use when it comes to scrapbooking or card making, right???  Maybe I am on the boarder line if there is one with having used
Styrofoam Sill Gasket, hahahahaha
It works great! Here is what it looks like along with my beautiful new stamp I got from Michael's store while in Halifax with Michael.

Here is the effect it has, I love it!!!

Next I made round paper distress flowers from my Candy Doodles CD and finished it with a slightly blue pearl.

And finally I added a butterfly I stamped and cut out and sparkled it up using silver embossing powder.

Have a fabulous weekend and thank you for joining us at HIMCR!!!!!

So happy to be back! / Today belongs to you Card

Hi!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and is still enjoying getting out and visiting your friends and family, our Christmas was amazing and still is although my waist is not happy with me, hehe!

I want to thank all of you for such wonderful support and comments about the accident my sister and I were in, We are feeling soooooo much better and reading your comments really help lift my spirits and Norma's...just knowing you took your time to read bad news especially during Christmas!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I still have a very sore back  and will be only doing what I can in moderation and I am off to a great start!!! I love this card... It has to be one of my favorites of mine to date.

Click on image to see the sparkly details!

For the background I used a small grill, I placed it on an angle and stamped with Tim Holtz black distress ink.
The red polka dot background was fabric that covered a bottle of cranberry sauce, let me tell you that bottle was decked out and it was delicious, the cranberry sauce that is, lol

I got these photo slides and the butterfly from Kelly (Theresa's mom!) for Christmas along with  many other awesome scrap items I can't wait to try, eeek!

The pure life button came with a stamp set I ordered from Jaded Blossoms and the arrows I doodled

If you click on the image you can see where I added silver stickles to give that extra sparkle , I really love how this turned out.

I have projects ready for all week and can't wait to show them to you and don't forget it is time for a freebie which I will give away Wednesday, I am happy to say I created a card using my own digital which is a rare occurrence but will become routine to help give you inspiration! Oh yes , getting down to business, I am so thrilled to be back.

Hugs

Shabby Chic Birthday Card

Good morning! Today I am showing you my first attempt at Shabby Chic, I realize I have a ways to go but I have to tell ya, I am loving the effects!  It is my niece's birthday in Aug and she will be one..

What happens to cards when we get them...they end up stored away and never seen again right? UNLESS you are a scrapbooker. You can create a scrapbooking page that will flow nicely with the colors of the card next to a photo of the person on that occasion.  Seeing Mya (my niece) will not yet appreciate a card I didn't go all out on colors, this is one for the mom to appreciate! (I hope!)

Sorry the pinks are not showing up to clear in this photo.

Have a happy Wednesday!

"Thanks" Card (Lots of heat embossing)

Hi, thank you for dropping by today!  I am excited to show you a card I made to say "Thanks" to my neighbour who organized the  neighbourhood BBQ a couple of weeks ago...of course she already has the card and loves it!

Just about everything on this card was heat embossed :
  • Butterfly
  • word stamped background
  • small flowers
  • Sentiment
  • bigger flower
The butter fly was made from a wooden stamp I got from Michael's Store... I fussy cut it and heat embossed it.
I also made a box to cordinate with the card , the thank you was done in Perfect Pearls

Happy Crafting!

Embossing tutorial "Get Well Card"

Good Morning!

I am excited to show you a card I made using different techniques, I wanted to make it bright and a touch of softness so it will have a cheerful calming effect on the receiver that is not feeling so well.

One of the techniques I used was stamping and embossing with this ribbon

To get these effects follow the written tutorial just below the image

  • For the area highlighted in black:  Cut a piece of ribbon to cover area you want this effect. (I used masking tape to hold it in place)
  • Stamped over the ribbon with a waterbased ink, (I used "VERDIGRIS" Antiquites by Ranger) and  gave it a minute  to dry.
  • Keeping the ribbon in place stamp over it again using Watermark resist ink pad ... (Tim Holtz's Watermark resist Dual- Purpose ink pad by Ranger )
  •  Remove the ribbon and  sprinkled genereously with Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder  and use an Embossing Heat Gun to melt it.
  • The area highlighted in red you will see I did the same thing with the Doiley only this time I just pressed the doiley into the ink pads.  Voila!!!!!!  Easy Peasy!
Not very straight with the camera so it seems!!! lol

Today I am playing in a challenge over at Stamp with fun Challenge #71 , The Challenge this week is "Lace Doiley"Join in on the fun!!!!

Have a terrific day.

Card made from Stamping and Embossing

Good morning! I hope you all had a terrific weekend, I got my sewing machine out and made another plush toy for Michael, I didn't do a great job but he slept with it so the judgement was  coming only from my end, we had fun! We also picked a load of seaglass at the beach below my house, the weather was fantastic!

Today I want to show you a card that has mostly stamping and embossing techniques, it is simple yet beautiful.. I love it and will be making a couple more to go with the set I posted about last week, hence very little dimension.

I have stamped images before but never have I made a card that is mainly stamping and I hope to get much better... now I have to invest in nature stamps!

Have a great day!

Mother's Day Card

Well hello there, thanks for visiting my blog today!

With Mother's Day just around the corner I made a very special card for my mom who is also my biggest supporter in life and is my ultimate best friend. What I love most about my mom is we  can talk about anything, complain to each other without feeling judged and encourage  each other when needed. My mom is everything to me, she is so beautiful and here is the card I made for her.

What do you love most about your mom?

Have a great day!

Chipboard Technique

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!! I am on the mend!  I have a card to share with you today and a video tutorial link from my favorite go to girl for inspiration, my lovely talented friend Christina. Before we get to the tutorial, have you ever heard of Nestaboard??

Nestaboard is a chipboard that can be used many ways , it is put out by "Want2Scrap" and if you are into spellbinders you will love this product for you can achieve the same results for less the cost! They can be used in so many ways, it all comes down to your imagination!

Christina  put together an "alternative spellbinders" video sharing a way you can use Nestaboard her own unique way.

Click HERE to see "Alternative Spellbinders" video tutorial.

I may not have Nestaboard but I did have pieces of chipboard that had designs on them I didn't like so I used the same technique Christina did on her Nestaboard.

This card is probably the biggest I ever made, it is 7"by 8", it is an Aperture card which means something as that of a window but using acetate sheets as opposed to glass. The chipboard behind the sentiment piece was covered in strips of paper leaving a gap between each one, then adding glitter, to find out more go to Christina's video highlighted above!

With this close up you are able to see the silver stickles I used on the small flowers on the card to give it a little more sparkle, also you can see the light reflecting of the acetate, the sentiment and chipboard is behind this piece, this will keep it protected. If you look close on the left side you will see a Hatpin! This was also created by Christina and low and behold she also has a video on how to make these!!! That is my next mission on top of learning about InLinkz!
Click here for a video tutorial on how to "Decorate Hatpins".

Thank you for all your amazing support when I was ill!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello card using a circle negative (tutorial)

Well Hello my bloggity friends!!!!! I cannot express how much I miss all of you! Thank you so much for your support, I am not better yet for the hives made their way back but I am hanging in there. When I start posting every day you will know I am on the mend.

Last night I gained enough energy to make a card, the ideas that have been running through my mind since I have been forced to take a break are endless! Maybe it's a good thing to take a break!

I seen a video on how to make a trellis out of corrugated cardboard and had to try it, you can find the tutorial here.  I used potpourri on my trellis!!!!, smells so nice!

The background was my own idea, here are the basics of this card ( and how to make the circle layered effect)
  • Make your card 5" by 5" (I used blue cardstock)
  • Cut a piece of pink card 1/4 " smaller for a mat
  • Cut a piece of pattern card , again 1/4" smaller
  • Cut a piece of white card 1/4" smaller
Layer the pink paper and pattern paper on top of your blue card

Now with the white card you will cut out a 4 1/4" circle , place the circle aside, you will be using the negative.

What I did next was cut out 8 more circles the same size as the white, 41/4" and layered them all as seen in the picture, I glued each one together and place them underneathe the white negative piece starting from the lower right corner. The circles will extend over the right top side and you will have to trim once you have postiioned it the way you like, now attach to your card!
The rest is up to you!

Please remember me in your prayers!!
