More Changito

Here is another fun card I whipped up using Changito the Baker by Stampendous, from i {heart} papers. This would be such an easy card to mass produce - perfect for a swap, or a gift set! The ribbon is also from IHP, and can be found HERE. It's hard to see in the picture, but I also used Star Dust Stickles on the candle flames at the bottom of the card, and Angel Wings Shimmerz on all of Changito's pink accessories. I also globbed a little bit of stickles on the end of his spoon to make it look like he was whipping up something yummy!

I also have to take a minute to talk books. The last time I posted about a book was when I finished the Twilight series, and I'm on my third book now since I finished that! Once I finished that series, I moved on to this book, The Widow Of The South, by Robert Hicks.

Although it is a fictional novel, it's based on the true story of a woman named Carrie McGavock who lived in Franklin, TN during the Civil War. The story revolves around her house being used as a hospital during the battle in Franklin, and details the work she did to preserve the bodies of the fallen men, contacting their families to let them know where the boys were, etc. It really is quite fascinating, if you are interested in that era of history like I am. Her home, Carnton, is still standing as a historic plantation in TN. I would love to visit it some day. I've been to TN so many times... I wish I'd known about this a few years ago. I guess I'll just have to make another trip!

That's all for now. I'll write about the book I read after Widow in my next post. :o)

Enjoy the day!

My Eyes!

LOL! Sorry, couldn't help myself with that post title given the brightness factor here! :o) I don't know what I was thinking, but for a minute earlier this evening the whole red/yellow/turquoise thing seemed like a really good idea. *shrug*

Regardless of the color, I still am lovin' this Changito Baker stamp set by Stampendous from i {heart} papers. I stamped the monkey image, and then extended the table line with a pen and stamped a few baked goods next to him. The cinnamon rolls were stamped on a separate piece of paper and then cut out and adhered with dimensionals to give it a little depth.... hard to see that in the picture. You can get a little better idea in this one:

Check out that red dotted ribbon I used on the card. This stuff is awesome.... Why? Because the dots are printed on both sides of the ribbon. LOVE that. I have some cheap-o black and white dotted ribbon (used on the card below) that only has the dots printed on one side.... so when you tie a knot, the dots on the ends of the not don't look as bright as the rest of the ribbon length. A minor detail, maybe, but one that matters to me!

I also used clear and yellow stickles for accents on the flames (yellow) and cakes (clear).

So, I guess it turned out ok... even with the blinding colors. :o)

Birthday Wishes

Ok, let's take a poll... Who thinks Changito is the coolest monkey in stamping? :o) I just love this little guy! I *just* got this new Changito Baker set from i {heart} papers, and I couldn't be more excited! I paired him up with some of the Rooster Row paper and this awesome red dotted ribbon. The monkey is colored with my copics, and I added stickles over the frosting on the cake, and over the flames on the candles.

That DP you see on the left side of the card is also the back of the card as well. I cut a piece to standard A2 measurements, then ripped most of the front away and adhered a piece of PTI white in its place. You can't see it in the pic, but I added another square of the patterned paper on the flip side of the white to cover where the copics bled through. I wasn't sure how it would look, but it actually finishes the card nicely.

I still need to tell you about Breaking Dawn. I haven't forgotten, I just don't have time right now! I need to go get a "last chance workout" in (ha ha!) before tomorrow's Wednesday Weigh-In!

I Want To Believe...

Ok, so maybe I've watched one too many episodes of The X-Files, but I love this Changito in Space stamp set by Stampendous from i {heart} papers! I matched him up with one of my favorite papers of all time (you may remember me using it heavily back at Christmas) called Hickups. Back in December, I thought it looked like a snow flurry. Now I think it looks like a super cool galaxy. :o) Could it be any more versatile? hehehehe. I punched a 1/4" hole at the end of the space ship and threaded three pieces of metallic silver string through it, then adhered that to the paper using Crystal Effects in a smoke trail pattern. I also added blue and white stickles to the blue and white dots on the paper for a little more dimension and sparkle. Voila! It's very simple (again!), but I thought it would make a cute kid's card.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. We're still fighting the sickies here, but at least the weather is improving!

You Rocket!

Here's another fun card using the Changito in Space set from i {heart} papers. It was soooo hard for me to step outside the box and not color my rocket grey! I don't know why I think all rockets should be grey, but I do. Hmph. Go figure.

The two DP's in the background are both from Basic Grey's 6x6 Cupcake Paper Pad. I think this might be my favorite BG pad EVER! I love the whimsy in these papers. They're wayy fun! The ribbon is the 1/4" Glimmer White - the same as what I used on the Changito frame last week (scroll down to see that if you haven't already). I love the shimmer (or I guess I should say "glimmer") you get with the ribbon. It's subtle, but pretty.

I colored the image with my copics, and added a few little star buttons that I picked up around Independence Day. I thought they were a nice addition.

Enjoy the day! And yes... I still need to get rid of that blasted snowflake in my signature. lol. One of these days....

100% All Boy!

Do you {heart} papers? I do! There are so many awesome things you can do with all of the different papers out there. If you have followed my blog for awhile, you may have noticed that I am first and foremost a card maker. I rarely alter anything, because to be honest with you I don't know that many people who would appreciate the time and effort that goes into the finished product. But I knew when I saw some of the following stamps and papers at i {heart} papers that I had to haul out the Mod Podge and make something... FOR ME! Woot! So, I ask you....

What happens when you take one picture frame from the Dollar Spot at Target....

Add some super cute All Boy designer paper (which, by the way, happens to be on sale right now!) and a few random buttons:

Some 1/4" White Glimmer Ribbon (reminds me of sparkly stars) and these adorable Changito in Space stamps (also on sale! ...just sayin'...lol!)????

The cutest little boy frame!!

I made this for my desk. I know which pics I want to put in it, but have to order the prints yet, and wanted to get it posted so I just wrote in where the photos will go (as if you didn't know - doh!) for now.

It's amazing how a little paper and ribbon can jazz up a $1 find, isn't it?!

Happy Bee-Day!

Here is another card using this Hap Bee Day set that I am absolutely in love with from i {heart} papers. You may have noticed from comments I've left on your blog that my SCS name is "Sairabee". B is my middle initial, and the beginning of my obsession with these little critters. :)

The background paper you see here is called Venetian Lace. I love the texture of it, it's almost a canvasy feel with a foil type look. Lovely! And the paper is printed on both sides... the black and white you see is one side, and the yellow is the other.

If you haven't clicked over to i {heart} papers in awhile, be sure to go take a look. Kate has lots of AWESOME new Valentine's supplies in stock (gorgeous papers, and super cute stamps, among other things)! Did you know she also carries Our Craft Lounge stamps? Aren't those just the cutest things? I got one of the sets in my January box and can't wait to show you some samples! Stay tuned!

Elmo's World!

Here is the quick and cute birthday card that I made for my dh. :o) My original thought was that this would be the card from the kids, and then I'd make a separate one from me. But I ran out of time, so this ended up being from all of us.

I am loving this PTI Stampers Select white paper. It's so nice to have a nice sturdy white paper that is strong enough to be a card base. It also works sooo well with the Copic markers. I love it!
Here is a close up of the coloring on Elmo:

I colored the entire image in R02 Flesh, then I colored over most of it with R05 Salmon Red, just leaving a little of the R02 showing for highlights. When I was done with that, I went back and added some dark highlights with R08 Vermillion. I love the way it turned out!

Are y'all ready for Christmas yet? I am soooo not... which means I guess I should stop typing and get busy actually doing something, eh?

Enjoy the day!

Trim The Tree

I have been trying to get my Christmas cards done and mailed, and have been having a heck of a time with them. Everything that could go wrong, has. I was complaining about it on a thread a chat on over at SCS and one of the gals said I reminded her of that disgruntled 12 Days of Christmas song (if you've never heard it, click the link and listen - it's hilarious...).

Anyhow, that made me laugh, and it also reminded of this stamp, so I had to dust it off and use it! Today is a Belli Challenge day, and this week's challenge is to make something with a Christmas theme Yesterday was a CBC Challenge day, and this week's challenge is dots, so I combined the two to come up with this! Here's a close up of Ziggy, isn't he ca-ute?

Here's the whole card:

The colors are Garden Green, Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy, and Summer Sun. I colored him with my copics, and tried to get as many dots in as possible. I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder, doodled dots around the sentiment, and used 5 brads (they look like dots, right?). The dot in the star is from SU's fire brads collection. The stamps is called Tree Lighting and is made by Stampendous. The sentiment is by PSX. The little paperclip on the side is from the office supply aisle at Target, and I have some of SU's (retired) narrow white organdy ribbon and IHP's metallic silver string tied around it.

So are you all ready for Christmas? I have the decorating done, but I need to make some candy this week for a treat exchange I participate in each year. I also want to get some cut out cookies made. If anyone has a recipe for a cut out cookie that holds its shape when cooked, and comes out soft like what you get in the bakery, I would love to try it! I also need to finish up some Christmas shopping... There's always something to do! Once that's all done, I can start to think about what I'll serve for Christmas breakfast. We're hosting Christmas Eve here for the entire family, and Christmas breakfast for my immediate family. I love having people over, so I'm looking forward to it!

Oh, and in case you didn't read to the bottom of yesterday's post, you can see some pictures of my tree and other decorations on my family blog.
Enjoy the day!

Happy Bee-day 2 U!

Helloooooooo! Long time, no blog! Ok, so maybe it has only been two days, but it sure feels like a long time when I'm used to posting on daily basis! I've been busy decorating for Christmas, and for the moment am all out of jingle. hee hee. The tree is up and decorating, so I just have a few finishing touches to do and then I'll be done! Woot! I'll be sure to post some pictures when everything is finished, so stay tuned.

I was super excited to have a chance to play with my new supplies from i {heart} papers tonight, I just had to show you this cute little card I made! I have a girlfriend with a birthday coming up, and she collects bees, so I thought this would be the perfect card for her. The stamps are by Stampendous, and the set is called Happy Bee Day. It's such a cute little set. The words "hap", "py", "bee", and "day" are all separate stamps, which makes the set super versatile. You could do "Happy Bee-day", "Hap-bee Day", "Happy Day", etc. The set also includes the letter "U", and all of the numbers (0-9). Seriously, the possibilities are endless. I love it!

Here is a close up of the image detail:

The little bee is supposed to be holding a package, but I thought the ribbon at the top made it kind of look like a potted plant, so I used these Small Blossom Sparkle Gems to add some blingy little flowers. I just added a little white in the center with my Signo gel pen, and some stickles to the bee, and voila! The paper is called Venetian Lace. It has that b&w pattern on one side, and the yellow on the other. It has a kind of brushed foil texture to it - sooo pretty!

You wanna know a little secret? Kate is having a 15% off sale this weekend for the folks who are members of the i {heart} papers group on PaperCraft Planet. Soooooooo... if you're in the shopping mood, and would like a little discount to boot, click over to PCP and join our IHP group. Once you're a member of the group, you'll be able to use the coupon code that is posted there for this weekend's sale!

Before I go, I'd like to take a moment to introduce you to the newest design team member here at The Scrampin' Mama (*wink*):

WOOT! I got a new camera! I have absolutely no idea how to use it yet, but it's here! lol! I need to do a little reading to learn about all of the features and settings, but I'm sooo excited!

i {heart} papers supplies:
PTI White paper
Copics
SU! Grosgrain Ribbon (White, Black)
Adirondak Pitch Black ink

Blessed Christmas

Today is a Belli Challenge day, and this week's challenge is to make something using the cracked glass technique. I bought the glassy glaze enamel powder for this technique about three years ago, and never got around to trying it. I had a couple of different ideas in mind for this card (different stamps), but ended up using this one that I bought AGES ago. I never know what to do with this stamp. I've inked it a few times, but I've never been happy with the results. It's such a big stamp... I just don't know what to do with it. Did I mention that already? lol. Because I don't.

The sentiment is from a little set of Christmas sayings in German that I got from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. This sentiment means, "Blessed Christmas", as you might have guessed from my post title. ;o) I thought it was the perfect sentiment for the image, but I'm still not 100% happy with the card. Go figure. The main images is called "Holy Family Window" and is by Stampendous (dated 2001).

I was thrilled to find those German stamps though, so I'm excited to finally get to use one. I can remember my great-grandpa talking to his brothers and sisters in the language (his family immigrated from the German Volga District of Russia in the early 1900's) as a child, and have always wanted to learn it myself. Maybe some day the boys and I can learn the language together. :)

Be sure to check out the other Belli girl blogs.... I'm a bad blogger and don't have a list of their links in my sidebar yet, but if you pop over to Chrissy's blog, she'll have a list of everyone who is participating in her post today.

Are you playing along with all of the challenges that are going on these days? PaperCraft Planet is running a 12 days of Christmas challenge, and so is Limelight Papercrafts. I am actually hosting the Limelight challenge on December 8, where you can win a cute Unity stamp if you play along (note: these are not all card challenges, some are trivia, etc. so be sure to take a look!). There will also be a grand prize winner chosen from everyone who plays over the 12 days - if you play in every challenge, you'll be entered 12 times for the grand prize! Woot!

Typing "grand prize" reminds me of the grand prize game on The Bozo Show. LOL! Did anyone else watch that? Man, I soooo wanted my Mom to take me down to be on the show. Chicago seemed so far away back then...

Ok, enough from me! Go create!

Winter Wishes

Here is one more card made with the Winter Family set by Stampendous, available at i {heart} papers. I just love how versatile this set is. You can add as many or as few snow-family members as you'd like. I stamped this one on kraft paper, and then used my watercolor pencils to color everything in. I didn't do any watercoloring on it at all though. I was going to use my blender pens, but then decided I kind of liked the pencil look on this one. I was trying to go for a country/Americana feel and the pencil coloring sort of lent itself well to that whole idea.

The dotted DP is called See Spot, and it is also available over at IHP. I just love this paper. The colors in it seem to coordinate really well with SU's current In-Colors, so that's an added bonus.

The snowflakes were punched with two different Martha Stewart snowflake punches, then I dabbed a little glue on them and tapped them in some of SU's chunky glitter. I was going for the crystal snowflake look that Anna Wight does sooo well, but I think I like her glitter better than mine. It looks more like ice shavings and less like glitter.

And just a quick reminder... there's a sweet black friday sale going on over at i {heart} papers. Be sure to click over and take a look. The promo code can be found in the blinkie below:

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I'm glad you liked my little poem in yesterday's post. :o) I actually got that in an email earlier this week and thought it was so cute, I just had to share it!

Winter Wishes Tag

First of all, I want to remind you that I have some AWESOME blog candy up for grabs on this post. Be sure to get yourself entered if you aren't already! And while you're at it, check out DT member Merry's blog for MORE i {heart} papers blog candy in the form of a cupcake chipboard book, designer papers, and ribbon!

Now, on to our regularly scheduled blog post. :o)

Today is Wednesday, and that means it's another Belli Challenge Day! This week's challenge is to create a tag, and here is mine:

I used the Winter Family stamp set from i {heart} papers for this tag. I just love this little stamp set because each of the snowmen are individual stamps, so you can create your own family. Got six kids and a dog? No problem! No kids and seventeen cats? Done! :o) Get the picture? LOL! At first I thought I was going to have to stamp each snowman individually, but then I got smart and realized I could just line them up on my long acrylic block, and voila! One stamp! The sentiment is actually three separate stamps. "Winter wishes" is one, "From our family" is another, and "To Yours" is the third. Very versatile. I love it!

I did a little coloring with my Copics, and then used my Star Dust Stickles to spread some sparkle on the ground and dot the sky to give the effect of snow. I love the look it gives. I just love snow in general. :)

For more inspiration in the tag department, be sure to check out the rest of the Belli Challenge Team blogs:

Best Wishes

Well friends, it's Tuesday, and you know what that means... another CBC Challenge day! This week's challenge is a color challenge. Let me show you what I made for it:

What? Were you expecting a card? lol! Unfortunately, I didn't play along this week... but I made a cool blinkie, so I'm still in, right Court? Huh? Huh? ;o)

Did you know that someone actually sat down and put together all of the RGB color codes for all of the ink colors Stampin' Up! makes? The colors in those flowers aren't guesses, they're actually created using codes from that list. Pretty cool, huh? If you want to play around with it yourself, you can find the codes HERE. And be sure to click over to the other CBC Challenge Chick blogs (note there are two new chicks this month!) to see what everyone else came up with. If you play along, link your creation to Courtney's blog for a chance to be entered in a little prize drawing.

Speaking of our girl Courtney, did you see that she is the "in the spotlight" designer for Gina K this month? How cool is that? Congratulations, Courtney!

Fortunately, even though I didn't play along with this particular challenge, I do still have a fun Changito card to share for today. The sentiment is from an old SU set called Cheery Chat. The DP is from SU!'s Washington Apple line.

Enjoy your day, and remember to get out and VOTE!

Teachers Rule!

Isn't this a fun card? I love all these bright colors! I have to thank my blogger friend Jacquie for sending me all of these fun Changito images, and she surprised me by throwing some school-related DP into the envie as well (what you see here, as well as some others). Thanks, Jacquie!

Believe it or not, this is actually a birthday card. Henry's godmother is a kindergarten teacher, and her birthday is tomorrow so I made this card for her, from him. I'll print something up for the inside... maybe, "...and you're my favorite one!" or something similar (suggestions welcome and appreciated!). In addition to being a teacher, she is also a HUGE advocate for books and reading with kids. I don't think I've ever known her to give ANY child a gift that didn't include a book, so these stamps really are just perfect for her! She does read my blog from time to time, but I'm hoping she won't stop in until after she gets this. If she does, well, SUPRISE! ;) lol!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Remember to take a little time for yourself - I'm sure you deserve it. :)

Simple Redemption

Redemption from what, you ask? Yesterday's card, of course! hee hee. I couldn't leave that at the top of my blog for more than a day, so I had to make something and get it posted. :) I ended up grabbing one of the many (and I do mean MANY) Fluffles images that was sent to me when I requested them on the WRAK forum on SCS. People were so generous, I love it! I've had them for a few years now, and I think I've only used one or two of them so far. That's never a good thing! Fluffles needs to get out and play more!

I used a cool grey (CG1) and a warm grey (WG5) copic together on this card. I wasn't sure how it would work, but I think the end result is cute. I used the cool grey to pick up the warm grey and then applied it to the paper. Then I used the CG1 marker alone as the floor with some clear Stickles applied over the top for texture.

The idea for the partially cuttlebug'd background with the sentiment at the bottom came from this card, that was recently featured on Taylor's blog. The swirly folder reminded me of unwound yarn. And I am loving this dark grey and cameo coral color combo. A vast improvement over yesterday, no? LOL!

Well, my plan to cut back on blogging doesn't seem to be working so well! I'll be back tomorrow with another CBC Challenge, and then maybe I'll skip Wednesday. Maybe. This stamping thing is addictive, in case you haven't noticed. ;o) The good news though, is that I snuck in an episode of Ugly Betty last night, so now I'm only one week behind on that show. I'll get caught up eventually...

Enjoy the day,

Wonderful Friend

My wonderful friend Lorie has a little blog candy challenge up for grabs over at Live, Laugh, Love, Create. The challenge is to make a card using the CPS sketch of the week. Here is a picture of the sketch:

I used a little creative interpretation, but I'm happy with my card. I think it's pretty darn cute! And really, who doesn't love Snoopy?! It's hard to tell in the photo, but there is piercing down the edges of the black strip. You might be able to see it if you click the image to enlarge it, otherwise you're just going to have to take my word for it. hee hee.

Believe it or not, I don't really have a lot to say today (shocking, I know!). So I'll call it a day and leave you with the details!

Happy b-day!

This is a quick card I put together today for a birthday I'm pretty sure I missed. I have to double check the date, but I think it's over. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right?

I received this cute little Changito image in an image swap a few months ago. Those image swaps are so handy for having quick-card fodder. I colored the image with my Copics and layered it on Rose Red, over some dp from Hobby Lobby (cut in thirds, but it's hard to tell with all the stripes), over some Basic Black, and finally over some Rose Romance cardstock. I finished it off with a ribbon and some doodling and called it a day! I'm kind of wishing I had left the sentiment box white, but it's too late and I didn't want to scrap it and start over since I only got two of these images in the swap.

The past few days I've been telling you I would be posting an altered item using my September 3 Little Dreams kit, and well, I haven't done that yet. A few days ago I got an email from Katie, the owner of 3 Little Dreams, saying she would be discontinuing her business and therefore September will be the last month kits will be sent, and also the last month of design team work for me. I have to be honest - I was kind of bummed about the whole thing, and sort of lost my altered item mojo for a few days as a result. I wish her well though, and am sure the closing of this door will open a window for all of us involved.

In other news, I think I'm going to be getting a new digital camera soon! Woot! I told dh I was going to ask Santa *wink* for one for Christmas, and he suggested that I sell my iPod (which I've had for 3 years and never used) and docking station (ditto) on ebay and use that money towards the new camera now. Smashing idea! I can't wait! Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should get?

Bee Free

Anyone who knows me well, knows I love bees (in pictures, not in person ;o)). My middle name starts with a B., and from there I became "Sarah B" to friends and family. That morphed into "Sairabee" when I got my first email account because it was the only spelling that wasn't taken, and the rest is history!

I'm entering this cute little fourth of July card in Kimmie's Bling Card Contest. She said the cards could have a little or a lot of bling, so I went with a little... in the form of dazzling diamonds on the bee's wings. :) I also used the Sakura sparkle gel pen on his feelers, but you can't see it in the picture. It kinda makes 'em look like little sparklers. lol!

The idea for the card layout came from a birthday card that was recently sent to Henry by my Stampin' friend Mindee (SCS: Mindo). Thanks for the great idea, Mindee! :)

Thanks also to Lorie for directing me to Kimmie's contest! You know I love a good contest/challenge!

Speaking of bee's, I've decided that I need to break my blogging in two. In the coming days I'm going to start a second blog for family things, and keep this as a primarily craft blog. The new family blog is bee themed - I just made the banner for it tonight. Can you believe it? I made a blog banner! Yikes! Watch for more info soon!

Paper: Whisper White, Brilliant Blue, Real Red
Ink: Basic Black, Craft White, Brilliant Blue, Real Red

Petals and Stems

One of the ladies who sings in the choir I am in passed away unexpectedly yesterday, so I needed to make a sympathy card for the family (a number of her family members sing with us as well). My first thought was to make something incorporating music notes, but I didn't have any kind of sentiment that would match and couldn't come up with anything good off the top of my head to print, so I skipped that idea.

I recently bought both this sentiment (Stampendous) and set (Petals and Stems, Verve Visual) and had them sitting on my desk waiting to be put away when the idea for this card hit me. I've never been happy with any sympathy card I've made in the past, but I like the simplicity of this. It looks naked to me without any ribbon or glitter on it, but the occasion just didn't call for frills.

I rarely speak of my faith online (it's so hard to understand people when reading rather than listening), but when I've been down it has always helped me to look at the world around me - particularly things in nature. To see the tangible work of God reminds me that he is still there, and if he is taking care of that little flower he is surely also taking care of me. That was my inspiration for this card.

Anyhow, let me know what you think...

Details:
Stamps: Sentiment by Stampendous, Petals and Stems (Verve Visual)
