Dare Essay winner

 (Early Spring 2022)

 Ian was selected to read his essay at his DARE graduation! They called the top three essays for each class and Ian’s was picked to read for Mr Thompson’s class. They had to read their essay on the spot in front of the whole 5th grade and their parents! He was just getting over a sickness so his voice was a bit crackly but he did great! He got a big trophy too! I had a cough drop and bottled water in my purse in case he needed it, but he didn’t. Mr. Thompson pulled me aside and jokingly said that he has highly considering holding Ian back so he could be in his class again, he just thinks he is the coolest kid. 



Ian has also loved Academic Team this year! He took 4th place in the science assessment category and was able to compete at regionals.

As a parent, it is so fulfilling to watch your kids go out of their comfort zones and come out successful. Awesome job Ian, we are so proud!

Ian John 1-11-11

Our little boy was born on Tuesday the 11th. Hooray! The day started out nerve-racking! I had been put on the waiting list to be induced on the 11th, so when I called on the 10th asking if they had room for me they said they would call the next day by 12:00 p.m. When they didn't I called them and they said they would call me back! Ugh! They did as they promised (it must have been because they heard Scott scream "please!" in the background) after about 30 minutes and asked if we could come in at 2 p.m. Hooray! We got ready, said goodbye to the kids, and took some pictures. I swear I doubled in belly size in my last 2 weeks! We headed to the hospital, that is when the nervous feelings hit! Grandpa & Grandma Young Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Young drove all the way from Idaho to visit us!  It took them 2 1/2 days because they stopped at Mt. Rushmore, but they got here around 1:00 pm and we were all so excited and when Rylan got off the bus, they were there waiting for him! With G & G Young comes the I-pad which is a good way for Grandmas and Grandpas to get to actually hold their grandkids all they want.   Ian learned quite a bit from the I-pad just from their time here.   Ian has learned to say, "cheese" whenever someone points a camera at him  I am sorry to say that we didn't do that much, and when I asked them what they wanted to do they said that just wanted to watch me be a mom and play with the kids. They even babysat while Scott and I went to a dance, and when Scott was out of town I went to play with friends one Friday.  I felt guilty leaving but they insisted on letting me have a night out away from kids.  We did have plans to go into the city the weekend

Sweet Brother

I have to share how sweet Rylan was to Madelyn yesterday while she was getting her shots. We went in and I laid Madelyn on the table and took off her pants. Then I sat down a couple feet away and looked away and said, "tell me when it's over." The nurse laughed at me and I am sure thought I was a super whimp. Rylan was standing over Madelyn and I asked him if he wanted to come sit with me or watch Madelyn get her shots. He said he wanted to watch. I didn't want to make him afraid because I was afraid... by sharing how much I hate shots, (ok I tolerate them, i just do not like watching them go in) I just let him stay. After the first one he was rubbing her little head saying, "It's ok Maddy, I am here, you are ok baby." So sweet! He kept on comforting her, and after the nurse was done, she was done crying too because her sweet brother was helping her. I was very proud of him.
