Laura's Sketch #29 & Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #11

Happy Friday! I stayed up way too late last night, fiddling around with this card when I should have been packing for vacation, yikes!

I had to squeeze in a card for Laura's Sketch #29, you know how I love the gang over at 2S4Y! Since time was of the essence, I multi-tasked and used Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #11 too! I love Dawn's color challenges, they really push me outside my "normal comfort zone" and make me try new combos, so thank you, Dawn!

I started playing with some Crate Paper die cuts that were in one of my Jenni Bowlin kits, and I loved the little squirrel, but he was the wrong color. So I adhered some Razzleberry Lemonade paper to some plain chipboard for sturdiness, then traced the squirrel and cut him out. Voila! It was too late to think of something clever for the sentiment, so I had to fall back with the generic "hi." I've said it before, but I could tell a LOT of people "hi" with my cards! lol!

Okay, gotta dash! Have a super Friday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Cardstock: Going Gray, Basic Black, Razzleberry Lemonade dsp.
Accessories: Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Black Hemp, Thickers, Crate Paper Glitter Die Cuts, Foof-a-La button, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Dimensionals.

Raspberry Suite Challenge #9: to wonderful you

Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I don't know how they go so fast!
Here's a card I made for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #9. I really loved these colors! I love that PTI Grass Green color, but I don't have it, so I used Kiwi Kiss. I've had some good times with Kiwi Kiss, can't believe it will be retiring soon. And yes, I used that black and cream polka dot paper from My Mind's Eye that I'm addicted to. What am I going to do when it's gone?! lol!

Hope you have a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe Stamps: Sweet Little Sentiments Cardstock: Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla, Walk in the Park dsp, My Mind's Eye polka dot paper. Ink: Staz-On Black. Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Big Shot, Backgrounds I Texturz plate, Dimensionals, Rusty Pickle black tulle.

Raspberry Suite Challenge #8: Owlways

Happy Saturday! I've been organizing and cleaning in my stamp room (yes, still!) but decided to take a minute to play with Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #8. It didn't turn out quite like I planned (I had no plan!), but you should go check out some of the other players' cards, because I have seen some real beauties!

I did use another one of my new SU sneak peek sets...this is Admit It, a new level 2 hostess set. It's a darling set of six and it has so much potential! The bright pink is the new In Color Melon Mambo, yummmm!

I finished up things at school yesterday and prepped everything for summer school on Monday. As much as I wait for it, it's always a little hard to let go of the school year, go figure! lol! Well, off to do more chores, how fun! Hope you're having a great weekend! Hugs and happy stamping!

The card below is the first I made...I was really trying to go back to the basics...all stamping, no patterned paper, no big bows and buttons, lol! So, of course, when I was done, I had to make another card so I could *cheat* just a bit!

Are you wondering about those stamps? I was lucky enough to receive a fabulous box of goodies on Friday from Cath at Moxie Fab World for winning the Mother's Day gift card contest with this card you may remember. (By the way, my wonderful mother-in-law received it and loved it!) Do they give good prizes or what?! The stamps are from American Crafts, yummmmm...

Okay, gotta dash! Hope you have a super Monday! Hugs and happy stamping!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #3

Happy Tuesday! Here's a little card I made for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #3. These colors were a little more challenging, and I probably went a little heavy on the red, but I used Kraft for the base, Red Riding Hood and Cameo Coral floral paper from the Pink Flamingo DSP, Pink Pirouette on the little tag label, and there's a tiny bit of Vanilla around the edge of the bird!

I used more of my Sassafrass Lass chipboard animals...they're almost all gone now and I've only cut into one sheet of the paper that matches them! lol! Oh well, at least I *used* something instead of hoarding it all, right?! I started to put an Easter greeting on this, but decided it would be sweet for a baby girl card for who knows, sometime in the future!

Warning: NSR! Since some of you mentioned liking my school stories, here's my favorite one from last week. I was finishing up in the 2nd grade classroom, and the teacher Ms. K had started reading a book to the kids, Miss Rumphius. She started (like all good readers do) reading the title, looking at the cover and pictures, and making predictions as to what the book may be about.

Ms. K: What do you think this book might be about?

Boy 1: George Washington?

Ms. K: Hmmm, I don't think so because George Washington was a man, and this is a woman. Someone else?

Boy 2: Abraham Lincoln?

Ms. K: Hmmmm, again, I don't think so because Abraham Lincoln was a man, and this is a woman. Someone else?

Girl 1: Oh, I know! Mrs. George Washington?

At this point, it was all I could do not to start laughing! Apparently they have been studying the presidents! The next girl finally made a good guess "Maybe a woman and her garden?" Yaaay! lol!

Okay, off to school! These children are our future, you know! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #2

Happy Tuesday! I have to say thank you for all of your sweet comments on yesterday's cards. I was getting so frustrated Sunday night while stamping. Do you ever get that, where you are so sick of your own cards, they all look the same, etc.?! That's how I was feeling then, so thank you! I told dh this morning, maybe it's time I pick up a book and read again for awhile! lol!

Well, I have two more cards to share again today...cards I started for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #2. I am so excited she's doing these, I love color challenges! I started out wanting to use that precious letter ribbon that I bought a long time ago here (and I'm going back this Saturday for a baby cropping shower, oh so dangerous!). I gave up on it and moved to the bunny card (which was made right before yesterday's card and is very similar to it!).

I went back to the letter ribbon last night and tried again. This card is special for me because it was made for an actual *real* occasion! lol! My dearest teacher friend is having a little boy mid-May so this is for her. On both of these cards I used more paper from that Colorbok Friendly Forest mat stack from Michael's. I thought it was adorable and could be used for cards or for school projects for the kids. Very fun stuff!

Okay, sorry so long-winded today! Thanks again for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Laura's Sketch #22 & Raspberry Suite Challenge #1

Happy Wednesday! Oh my, the first week back from Spring Break is hard! lol! I did squeeze some stamping time in Tuesday night, so that made it a little better, although I should have been working on other stuff probably, oh well!

I wanted to tackle the fabulous Dawn McVey's new Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1 and to tackle to "two challenges with one card," I used Laura's Sketch #22 for the design. I always love Dawn's use of bright, vibrant colors, but it truly is a challenge for me! I agonized over this for SOME time! lol! I was also trying to *junk* it up more...you know, add more stuff! lol!

I started with the flowers in the background by stamping them with Pixie Pink craft ink (I thought the cardstock was Pixie Pink, but realized later it was Pink Passion, oops!), and embossing with clear embossing powder. The *hi* part started out with a pink glittery chipboard bird, but he just wasn't working for me. It seemed to be crying out for Thickers, so I broke into my precious stash! ha! The little chipboard tag was made with the Big Shot and Lots of Tag Sizzlits set (very versatile!) and some Always Apricot Patterns DSP. The *huge* orange stripe ribbon is by Li'l Davis Designs that I bought at Tuesday Morning years ago. I think that covers most of the deets, let me know if you have any questions though!

Thanks so much for stopping by! You don't know how much your sweet comments cheer me up on rough days when I check on my iPhone between classes! =) Hugs and happy stamping!
