Peace Card

For those of you that frequent here often you know I'm all about the boingin' colors.  Each of my projects are usually bursting with color combos galore so when I saw the 12th Day of Christmas Challenge at Turtle Soup to create an all white card I thought to myself ruh-roh!  Funny how the brain works though because out of all the challenges I chose to take this one!

I set myself in motion by gathering a plethora of white supplies: cardstock, vellum, paste, glitter, sequins, doilies, cheesecloth, and some sprigs with sequins already attached.  Then I grabbed some other materials: dies, stencils, punches, and embossing folders that I thought perhaps might work to pull together a wintery scene fitting for an all white theme.  Once those things were all out my mind was able to function as I played with the bits - punching this, adding paste to that, die-cutting out shapes (numerous times I might add LOL).

When all my pieces were cut, punch, and dried I began to play with the arrangement and the above Peace card was my final result.  The background was stenciled with modeling paste sprinkled with glitter.  Over that is some embossed vellum, then cheesecloth, and finally I piled on my layers of dies and embellies.

I posted this photo on Instagram (@kndr2tch) and shared I think I have a new favorite style of Christmas card - its so very different from what I would normally gravitate toward creating and I think that is why I love it so much.  I'll also be honest in sharing I think this one is staying right here with me and going in my December album - I can create some more to give away - this one is special.

So happy I can share this card for a couple challenges out there right now too!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you're having a delightful one!

Out With the Old......

...... is the motto around my house these days.  I've been a cleaning lunatic and much to my body's dismay - mentally I'm a happy camper.  So imagine my delight when looking for a scrappy break I happened upon my friend Lisa's card challenge at MSW - out with the old; in with the new.  The concept: use old and new product.

stenciled molding paste colored with mist and embossing powder; bumpy textured created with watermark ink and embossing powder; mist splatters made with mica powder mixture
For my old contribution on this card I used my beloved Sassafras.... sigh..... the new stuff: mica powder, colored mesh, stencil.

1. misted molding paste, custom created embossing powder using mica powder for cloud stamp 2. bumpy embossing powder texture in upper left corner of notebook paper, mist splotches made with mica powder mixture 3. additional splatters, mesh, shimmery goodness
Short and sweet tonight folks, I'm pooped but have so much more to do tomorrow and need to scoot to bed.  Until next time......

365 Cards - Day 303

Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone has had or is having a wonderful celebration. DH, the kids, and I all made it til' midnight!!! A first around here.... my kids are getting big! DD did have to go up to her bed at 11:50 and just lay there until the new year tho'!! LOL! She yelled Happy New Year st 12:00 and then it was immediately quiet! ;0)

Day 303 - With a Flourish
So I rang in the new year watching my kids and DH play the Wii from my scrap table. Day 303 at 365 cards was all about the flourishes.... you had to use at least 3!!! I really struggled with trying to get 3 flourishes on this card..... I don't really do flourishes by themselves, let alone in 3's! But, I am pleased to say I accomplished this challenge and love the card I came up with!!!

Here is my card:

I also used a Tic Tac Toe challenge from Audrey at MSW to make this card. Her requirements were to have only cardstock, use at least 2 ribbons, and to emboss something. The white cardstock is embossed with little flowers, but it is hard to see in the photo.

I used cardstock from stash for this project.... the white is American Crafts.... The velvet ribbon is MM and the bow is from my stash.... the dress and sentiment stamp are from Inkadinkado, picked them up on clearance from Michael's!! Great deal! :0) The flourish stamp is from G Studio and the rhinestone is from my stash.
