Project Life December Daily..

Project Life and December  Daily, mean very similar things to me. It's an opportunity to document the everyday events in our lives as well as those more momentous occasions. Today I want to share with you a PL2015 + DD spread that has only one photo. Yes.  That's right.  Just one photo.  And it's still only the regular 3x4" size too! This week's spread is focusing in on the stories.
To be really honest with you, I needed to step away from the demands of snapping a daily photo for the singular purpose of filling up my December pocket pages. And while I have still taken those said photos, my priority in the last week has been to my family and living the moment during this wonderful season.
If you have a schedule that is anything similar to mine, carving out some crafting therapy can often be the hardest challenge of all. And even though I haven't printed out any of my photos for the last week, I have documented the stories.
One such story is how my youngest lost his first top tooth, but then couldn't put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy because he dropped it down the bathroom plug hole while cleaning it.  He was very upset over this development and with no way to recover the tooth, I asked him to write the tooth fairy a note, explaining what had happened.

To help his letters standout on a Becky Higgins core PL card, I traced over his letters with a sharpie. This way I can stay true to his handwriting sample.

Our Elf on the Shelf is a regular visitor at Christmastime. This year Elfvis has been adventuring rather than playing hide and seek with my younger boys. I wanted to share a few of his adventures in my PL stories.  Using a journaling Brag Cards from Fancy Pants Designs | Happy Place I've recorded some of his crazy antics.

I've teamed up the brag cards with the cut apart patterned paper from October Afternoon. Last month I put together a series of filler cards from October Afternoon | Under the Tree, and this week I've finally added some of them to my pocket pages.

Thanks for visiting here today.  Have a wonderful and safe Christmas - Leanne..x

Project Life | December Daily..

Happy Monday  Sassy Friends! Welcome to the next installment of Project Life meets December Daily! *wink, wink* And with a little help from the new Fancy Pants | Happy Place collection I can quickly put together the stories from December 6 through to December 8.

The Fancy Pants | Happy Place Brag cards were chosen to allow for equal journaling and filler card simplicity! On the title card for the days I've allocated for this spread, I've added the gorgeous tiny text alphas. Not only does it emphasis the month rather than the weekly date, the orientation of the card creates quirky interest.

These few days were also ideal to document a family movie night.  My boys and I have never watched "Elf" before. To commemorate the night, I searched online for an image from the movie. The bright yellow in the photo has been teamed up with the bright yellow of the adjacent filler card. The card by itself would have been sufficient next to the movie poster photo however, by adding the teal puffy sticker, it  helps draw the eye visually across the page. I've also added the stamp image from the Kelly Purkey | All Decked Out clear stamp collection, for that extra touch of fun!

Altering photos to black and white allows the filler cards to shine and support the visual story.

And by keeping the spread simple, the individual stories are highlighted.

This week's colours are slightly different to last week, but are no less light and airy. Christmas colours don't always have to be traditional and I quite like to mix things up with an unexpected colour combination.  Thanks for visiting..x

Project Life Monday | December Filler Cards..

Hello Sassy Friends! Welcome to the final step by step class for November. Today we are going to create our own Fringed Christmas Tree embellishment to fit perfectly into a 3”x4” pocket! I have used the super cute October Afternoon | Under the Tree collection, along with Kelly Purkey clear stamps and Hero Arts Ombre ink. Let’s get started!

step 1: Trim a 3”x4” piece of smooth white cardstock and stamp a brick wall pattern using the Kelly Purkey | Deck the Halls clear stamps and Hero Arts ombre ink. See instructions here.

step 2: Using the October Afternoon | Under the Tree collection, select 4 -5 different patterned papers. Keep in mind you can use the reverse side too.

step 3: Trim a piece of cardstock into a rectangle 2”x3.5”. Mark the middle on one of the short ends and trim the sides to create a tall triangle.

step 4: Layer the individual patterned paper strips one at a time, across the cardstock triangle. Trim the edges of the paper strip to match the cardstock shape.

step 5: Using a good pair of scissors, snip the lower edge of the paper strip multiple times to create a fringe. Take care not to cut across the entire length of the paper strip.

step 6: As each paper strip is completed, adhere them to the cardstock. Brush the fringe gently to create dimension and interest. Cover the entire cardstock triangle with paper fringe strips.

step 7: Adhere the completed triangle to the 3”x4” cardstock background that was prepared in step 1.

step 8: For added interest, flick the completed card with black paint.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you have found a little inspiration with my step by steps using these fabulous products, now found in store..x
