Beautiful Moments Mixed Media Canvas By Farrel Tailor

Hello there lovelies!! I'm back today to share with you a mixed media canvas I created using 13arts papers and sprays along with Prima's Color Philosophy Dye Inks. So let give you a quick tutorial in how I created this.

I have to apologise for the process photos.... we have just moved into our new house and the lighting isn't the best.

I started off by applying modeling paste to my 5x7 inch canvas board and used a comb like tool to create the lined texture. I then applied 13arts Ayeeda Mists Pastel Pink, Lavender and caramel using a wet paint brush. I also used those sprays to splatter around the edges. Once dry, I then inked around the edges using Prima Color Philosophy Ink - Foggy Nights and with a wet paint brush just lightly went over the edges to create a shadow like effect.

I then cut 2 straws in half and adhered them to the canvas. Next to colour the cheesecloth, I inked my craft mat with Foggy Nights and sprayed with water then rubbed the cheesecloth in the ink and used my heat gun to dry and then adhered to the canvas.

I cut out the paper doily from 13arts Fly Away pp Days and Nights and sprayed it using Ayeeda Mist Pastel Cobalt. I also used the Fly Away sticker sheet for the title which I trimmed and mounted onto white cardstock.

Next I added some gold wire from my stash and some flowers that I had lightly painted with Pastel Pink and Pastel Caramel spray and then splattered using Dylusions Black Marble spray.

Thanks for dropping by and look forward to sharing my next project with you very soon.

Leave a Little Sparkle Art Journal Page by Farrel Tailor

Hello Fellow Sassy Fans!!! I'm back again to share with you another mixed media art journal page featuring the amazing 13arts Ayeeda Mists.

So to start my page I used a mini harlequin stencil with Ranger Texture Paste and used my heat gun to dry.

Once the paste was dry I sprayed water to the area I wanted the 13arts Chalk Turquoise mist to go and applied the mist using a small paint brush. I then splattered what was left on my brush onto the page.

Next I splattered Chalk Ultramarine Ayeeda mist onto my page and spritzed enough water to let the colour run a little. Once it was dry I then applied Chalk Indigo using a watered paint brush and applied it around the outside of my coloured area. I also added some splatters.

As you can tell this page is all about layering. So the next mist I used was Pearl Turquoise Light which I used to splatter all over. This mist has a little bit of sparkle to it which just makes the colours all pop!!

I then splattered using Dylusions Black Marble and White Linen Sprays and used a heat gun to dry.

Now to add a little bit more texture - I used Art Basics 3D Gloss Gel to adhere my cheesecloth and gave it a quick dry with my heat gun. I then cut out my butterfly print that I got from Pinterest (the link will be over on my blog) and also adhered it using the 3D Gloss Gel.

Then to finish off the page I used Vicki Boutin's Mixed Media Stickers Phrases and Accents and used my black Uni Posca pen to draw around the edges of the stickers.

And there you have it, a simple but effective art journal page and I hope I have inspired you to create something this week.

Be Strong - Art Journal Page by Farrel Tailor

Hello Lovelies!!! I'm back again with another art journal page using lots of yummy mixed media products. Make sure you click on the video at the end of the post if you would like to see how I created this page.

Ok so let me give you a brief run down of how I created this page - I started by blending Dylusions Paint Funky Fuchsia and Crushed Grape using a mini blending tool all over my page. I did use an older receipt book as my patterned paper and adhered it with Art Basics 3D Gloss Gel.

Next I used 13 Arts Ayeeda Paint - Matte Green with a stencil from my stash. I love this colour, it's so vibrant!! I'm like a moth to the flame with this colour. lol

I then stamped my Prima Princess Madeline onto tissue paper using Versafine Onyx Black and used Dylusions White Linen to to adhere her to page. I used the white paint as I wanted the colours to pop on my princess and not have the pink and purple to come through.

To colour my princess I used Distress Crayons Set#1 and Distress Crayons Set #3 (Antique Linen), I used my water pen with the crayons to create a watercolour type mixture. I used Prima Color Philosphy Ink Pad - Midnight Blue for her hair and added a little in her eyes. I did also add some of the 13 Arts Ayeeda Paint - Matte Green to her eyes and I loved how they turned out.
I thought Madeline needed a little more vibrant colour so I used 13 Arts Ayeeda Waterbased inks - Yellow, Scarlet and Bordeaux. These colours are amazing!!!

For my border I used a Uni Posca 0.7mm black pen and also used it to draw over the top of the stencil. I splattered using the Dylusions White Linen and Prima Color Philosphy Ink Pad - Midnight Blue. Last of all added some stamping and voila another art journal completed.

Thanks for dropping by and until next time - Happy Scrappin' xx

New Beginning Art Journal page By Farrel Tailor

Hello Lovelies!!! I'm back today to share with you all my mixed media art journal page I created using Dina Wakley Heavy Body Paint and Darkroom Door Grunge Stamp Set.

So let me step you through the process and there is also a process video at the end for anyone wanting to see how I created it.

I started by lightly coating my page with white gesso. Then using a dry brush I applied Dina Wakley's Heavy Body Acrylic Paints - Magenta, Fuchsia, White, Turquoise, Lime, Lemon and Black. (All products are linked to the store.) I used my apron to wipe off the access paint as I didn't want to have a wet brush....using a dry brush gives you the amazing brush stroke texture to the paint.

I then used Dylusions Stencil 5 x 8" Modern Script stencil with Turquoise paint and applied it using my mini blending tool. I also sprayed the stencil with water and used the reverse side as a stamp.

Next I used Darkroom Door Grunge Stamp Set with my acrylic paint and stamped onto the page.
Once it was dry I then cut out my butterfly which I printed on my computer using a free printable from Pinterest. I adhered the butterfly using Prima 3D Gel Medium.

I used the acrylic paints to add colour to the wings on the butterfly and mixed my black and white paints with a small amount of water to add some splatters. The reason for adding water to the paint is because the paint is heavy there is no way I could splatter as it, do diluting it with water allows you to use this technique. I used a small paint brush for the splatter.

Last of all I used a stamp set in my stash for the sentiment and there you have it...another art journal page!!!

Until next time Happy Scrappin' and thanks for dropping by

Seize The Day - Layout by Leonie Neal-Dawson

Hi and happy hump day to all our readers at Sassy Scrappers.
Leonie here today.
Have you joined in on our September Blog hop?
Prizes up for grabs on all of the DT blogs - plus a major prize here on the Sassy Blog.
Head to this post if you haven't joined in yet, you still have a few days left to enter.
I'm sharing a layout today using the My Minds Eye Cut and Paste Flair range
which you can find here.
Now, if you've seen my other layouts using this paper range (here, here and here) you will know that it's all lovely pink and mint colours with some black thrown in! Well I wanted to do something different so I chose a photo taken at Sunrise last ANZAC day.
As you can imagine mint and pink were going to struggle with the yellows, orange and reds of
a sunrise photograph.
To over come this I chose mostly black elements from the MME range.
Predomintly the piece of paper below, which I used to fussy cut lots of the frames to
make a mat for my photograph.
Cut and Paste Flair Small Charms Paper
Then I was able to use all the warm and hot colours in the spectrum to
create my background.
Here's my layout.

I used a Crafters Workshop Stencil on the background
(You can find lots of them here in the shop)
and spread texture paste over the stencil.
I then used dylusions sprays in red, yellow and orange to colour the background.

When it was dry I sprayed with water which returned some of the stencil pattern to
the white colour of the texture paste.

I also used some of the MME tiny word stickers, brads and enamel dots to embellish
my page.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Sassy blog.  I hope you've
found something here to spark your creativity.
Cheers,

Finnabair Style you can do it too!!!

Good Morning how are you all? Happy Father's Day for all those special men in our lives. Today marks the last day of me showing Prima’s Sunrise and Sunset range... I have really enjoyed creating with this and I am very proud of the work so far for pushing my creativity.  So with that being said I thought it would be a great time to share with you how to do this Finnabair style of scrapbooking.

Step 1 and 2: I am doing a front cover of a journal to make it easier to manipulate and create your front cover, use chipboard. Trace around the front cover and cut to the same size as your journal. Find a 6x6 stencil as your main background feature, texture paste it and dry it with a heat gun.

Step 3: Using another template picking something that adds interest and doesn’t distract from your main stencil, the new Crafters Workshop Well Rounded is a great choice as it has 9 different styles in the 12x12 size template.

Step 4: Don’t forget to do the edges in a random fashion with texture paste. When drying with a heat gun remember to also dry on the underside of the piece this will stop the chipboard warping and the texture paste bubbling.
Step 5: Grab a selection of brass charms, washers and any other metal object that you would like to create interest. Don’t forget ribbons and trims are a great way to add texture. Once you are happy with the position of your objects then stick them down with glossy accents and dry with a heat gun.
Step 6: Paint the whole thing with white gesso this will also allow you to focus on the charms and add to it page if you need more don’t forget to gesso if you add more.

Step 7: At this stage you can have two options; paint with a metallic paint as long as the paint dries with a waxy/ plastic look. If you want don’t want it to be metallic jump to step 8.
Step 8 and 9: Once you have dried your gold layer use Dylusion mists and start with your darkest colour (Brown) and mist the centre of your clusters and then the centre of the journal. Then dry with a heat gun it will make dull down and give you an older look to the gold. Then mist with your first bold colour (red) starting in the bottom LHS corner and also in the centre of the top RHS cluster.
Dry with a heat gun and repeat the misting step with the red again. This allows the colours to be in shades so dull and bright.

Step 10: Use your third colour your highlight colour (orange) find an area that you would like to highlight and allow it to dry naturally.
Step 11 and 12: While waiting on your highlight colour to dry if you have a spiral bound journal paint the edge from the spiral and your edges with gold approx. 1cm and then mist with your 3 colours to help blend your chipboard cover to your journal. Dry with heat gun.
Once that is dry time, to adhere your cover onto the journal, using a lot of Glossy Accents.  To hold into position while you are waiting for it to dry use bull dog clips.
