Homestudy schedule

Brynn can obviously sense our excitement over the next few weeks. She took a moment to pose for a review of baby shoes. What can I say, she loves shoes just like her mom! We're currently trying to get ready for our trip to Chicago. Like I was saying, we rented an apartment downtown adjacent to the Mag Mile. We're taking one of my best friend's younger sisters as our nanny for the week. So the hubby and I are looking forward to a few fun nights out just the two of us which should be fun. We'll also have a kitchen and washer and dryer so that should definitely be kid friendly. I just need to somehow find swimsuit that is flattering since there is a pool on the 8th floor and a hot tub, LOL!

Next week Thursday we have our first homestudy. It seems so bizarre to need one to adopt our own embryos conceived via IVF, But whatever. As I said...unicorns..lechruchans...whatever. After that homestudy, both my husband and I each have a private meeting with the homestudy lady. Then after about 8-16 weeks we'll have an actual homestudy that takes place in our home. I'm just not sure what to tell this homestudy lady. Like do I seem silly and say we're looking at domestic adoption? Or do I say we're not sure if we're interested in international versus domestic adoption placement? Gee this is so silly to deal with our own embryos, LOL! But whatever. I just know that there are three sweet little embryos of ours waiting away in some lab just wanting to come home to us. Will they have my smile? My husbands's goofy grin? Brynn's bright blue eyes? Who knows...all I know is that I want more than anything in the whole wide word for our next child to make their way home. No matter how many hoops we have to jump through.

I don't mean to be a tattle tale, but Brynn's sticking her tongue out at me.

I hope the trip and the home study go great! You need not worry so much about the swimsuit, you look to be in great shape for a woman who lounged around on the couch for several months.

Tell Brynn I stuck my tongue out right back!

Here's hoping the hoops are super easy to jump through!
Whatever will bring your sweet babies home to be you and your family is wonderful.
Love the pic of Brynn!
Check out Land's End or Athleta for swimsuits, they have tall sizes cause I know you are a leafeater as my Dh says. Also, they are really cute.

Oh my gosh. I have vacation-envy. Sooooo bad. Hope you have a GREAT time.

Re: the home study. So stupid, but whatever. Tell them you are doing a private, domestic adoption. Gah.

Oh, and I totally second Lands End. They have THE BEST suits.

Wow -- good luck w/ the homestudy. Like I said before is it open book? If so just show them the photos of Brynn.. I agree she is sticking out her tounge which is so cute.
I love the shoes. I want some!!.

Aw yes swimsuits shopping (love to hate it), however; I have found Land.End is really good. There are so many different styles/shapes they are great.

Have fun in Chicago - if you get a chance go to Navy pier. Its alot of fun. Oh yes and don't forget about "Dicks last re.sort". It is a blast.
Have fun.

Hope the hoops aren't too difficult. I have no idea what you would say to the home study people though. Good luck.

I live near Chicago and totally love to spend time in the city. You'll have a great time! One of my favorite things to do is to go to the Borders on Michigan Avenue and get a capuccino and sit at the 2nd story windows watching the walking by below.

Have a great time!

Awww Brynn is just sooooo cute!

I can't believe the hoops you are having to jump through - what a totally ludicrous situation!

Have a great weekend away.

Brynn is so freaking cute!!

All these hoops are definitely worth jumping through, but STILL. I would be so peeved! Bravo on holding it together. I would be not so happy if someone came over to my house to question me wanting to "adopt" my own children. :-) You rock! Have fun in Chi town!!!

I love all the picture. Glas work si going well. Yes, weird ot hav to adopt your own kids. I think it;s the same deal in my state...the legal mother is hte one who gives birth not the gentic mother.

cI did DE I don't have to jump through any hoops like you do. Once she was inside of me she's mine (legally).

Do what you have to to build you family.

Awwww...the pics of Brynn never get old. What a flippin' cutie pie! I personally think she's sticking her tounge out at the prospect of all the intrusive, hoop-jumping, legal BS you're dealing with right now. And who could blame her?!

Hope your first plane trip with the wee-one is fantastic. *hugs*

How crappy that you have to jump through so many hoops to get what is rightfully yours. Buggers!

What a cutie pie Brynn is! The pics will never get old.

I, too, have vacation envy. Am really itching for some alone time with my hubby, but am so not ready to leave him overnight yet.

So...let me get this straight...you aren't allowed to just be "approached" but someone and able to adopt "their" baby...you have to go through all the hoops even if you "find" the adoption on your own at the end of a rainbow?

So, if you had a sister than wanted to give up the baby for adoption...you wouldn't just be allowed to get a lawyer and sign some the dotted lines?

I live in Canada and don't know what the rules/regulations are here so maybe its the same...but I would have thought that homestudy was if you were using a public or private agency. Not if you have an adoption that you bring the the table/find on your own.

Thats a little bit insane...
