Our First Jersey Thanksgiving

Hello all. Sorry for the two week hiatus from blogging. Life has been a little nuts and I have SO much to catch you all up on, but more on that later. :) Since Luke and I just moved a couple of weeks ago, we weren't able to fly home for Thanksgiving. So this year, we decided that since we couldn't be with our family, we were going to make some new friends...

Luke and I have been attending a church in New Jersey called Liquid Church. Liquid put together a HUGE service project for the holiday called Sandy Thanksgiving. A ton of churches from New Jersey, and from around the country, got together to serve the people that were affected by Hurricane Sandy. We met up with everyone on Staten Island and our particular group's project was to clean up the back yard of a really nice guy who had the entire bottom floor of his house flooded. We ripped up the frame of his deck and cleaned out of the broken title from inside his house. We also cleaned out and moved his shed, which had shifted off of its platform during the storm.

Staten Island is crazy y'all. Please continue to pray for the people of the east coast that were affected by Hurricane Sandy. In many cases, FEMA is gone. The initial shock of the storm is over and the TV cameras are gone. It is now time for these people to attempt to rebuild their lives and this is not an easy task. Luke and I are going back tomorrow to continue serving with Liquid Church. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

After a few hours out on Staten Island, Luke and I drove home to clean up and then drove about 30 miles up the road to have dinner and hang out with some new friends. A co-worker of mine invited Luke and I to have Thanksgiving dinner with him and his awesome family. It was so nice to hang out in an actual home with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and kiddos! I just love the sound of family and the smell of home cookin' from the kitchen. The Murrays were so sweet to welcome us into their home for Thanksgiving this year. We loved hanging out with such an awesome family and felt so blessed to be able to share Thanksgiving with them!

Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends!
We have so much to be thankful for. <3 center="center">

How could I forget Thanksgiving?!

I just remembered that I NEVER blogged about Thanksgiving! What's wrong with me?? So, here it is in pictures. We spent time with both of our families and began our own Hinton holiday traditions. Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend and are wrapping up your Christmas shopping (Ha, ha! Pun intended!). If not, you better hurry. We have a week! :)

{We ate a ton of amazing food!}

{And hung out at Aunt Kathy's house}

{Took sister pictures...}

{...and silly pictures}

{We had a second round of amazing food at Luke's Grandpa's house}

{And we ended the night watching the gorgeous sunset in Portland}

{The next day, we picked out our first Christmas tree...}

{...brought it home and decorated it!}

{We packed up on Saturday and headed to Hallettsville}

{Where we helped the Martiseks pic out their Christmas tree}

{Luke and I went out to the ranch with dad to feed the cows and fish. Cool pic of my dad, right?}

{Being out in the country has its perks. :)}

{I got to play with my sister's puppies. SO cute!}

{We ended our weekend at the Festival of Lights in downtown Hallettsville, watching the Christmas play on the square}

{Love him!}

{Monte and Brooklyn had fun hanging out and are ready to see each other again for Christmas!!}

Thankful

There is much to be thankful for this year!

1) I turned 24, Luke turned 25, and Brooklyn turned 1. Grateful for another year of life!
2) I officially cut myself off from my parents financially in May. This may sound silly, but I'm thankful for financial stability.
3) I bought my first car. :)
4) Luke and I were married in June, the best day of my life to date.
5) Luke and I moved into our first house this month and are loving married life!
6) I've learned SO much about the industry I work in and have been successful this year. Again, thankful for financial stability and the amazing team I work with.
7) Although I've only made it to Baylor twice in 2011, I'm thankful for my education and the role it continues to play in my life.
8) I'm grateful for Coffee and my Keurig. And coffee.
9) I have friends from childhood, high school, college, camp, work, etc. that continue to be life-long friends and family. They are amazing blessings in my life.
10) God has given me the goofiest, stubborn, sarcastic, loving family that could possible exist. And they are perfect.

These are just 10 of many blessings that I just cannot be thankful enough for!
I hope you and your family have a very happy and blessed thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and green bean casserole (my favorite)!!

Hurry up weekend!

AHHHHH!!!! Work is crazy today! Holiday log deadlines are stressing me out. I have conferences calls, orders to book, and commercials to edit...oh my!

But my mind is elsewhere. On turkey, family, and days off with the husband. Dear God, please help me get all this work done so I can relax and enjoy Thanksgiving!

{Can't stop thinking about a long weekend with these two}

Welcome November!

Hello friends! Aren't you all SO excited for November's arrival? I sure am! So much, in fact, that I have made a list of all the wonderful things about the 1st of November:

1) It's 11.1.11
2) Starbucks' red cups are back
3) My boots that I ordered came in today, just in time for this beautiful month (remember these?)
4) Thanksgiving is in 23 days
5) Justin Bieber was on the DWTS result show tonight (he's such a cutie!)
6) Baylor Homecoming is 3 days away
7) The 3rd Annual Martisek Christmas shopping weekend in Houston happens this month
8) New blog sponsors!
9) My youngest sis and mom both celebrate their birthdays in November
10) And GOD IS GOOD! But hey--this is every day. :)

A quick house update: We finished painting the house!! All three bedrooms, the living room, and the kitchen have received new coats of paint and everything looks so nice! Luke also put new shutters on the front of the house, which gives our sweet little beige house some much-needed color. My mom played a HUGE role in helping me finish painting this weekend! We made a trip to Home Depot, bought a few items that will help spruce up the house, and Jules even bought Luke and I the cutest "H" doormat. I don't know what I'd do without her!

{New shutters!}

The Hintons have a lot to be thankful for this month! What are you thankful for during this Thanksgiving season? Are you doing anything special on your blog to document this? If so, let me know. I'd love to read about it!
