HOLY CRAP!! He's 10!!

Only 11 days late for this post but I have been trying to post it for 4 days!  Computer issues!!
Anyway, Trenton turned 10 on Jan. 18th.  His cake was easy because he really isn't a fan of cake and just wanted a pan of brownies.  Now I can handle that!!
He was very happy that his Grammy was able to make it for his birthday!  And if you can't tell it looks like she gave him a baseball bat!  When he asked for one I said, " I thought you already had a baseball bat?"  He said, " Mom, that is a T-ball bat!"  all in a DUH mom voice.  OOPs sorry, what do mom's know anyway right?
He was very excited for Indiana Jones lego for the wii!  I think he may have already passed the entire thing.  Or he is close to finishing it.  I don't know.  He stayed up til 1 am on his birthday playing it.  Only because he didn't have school the next day and his uncle Alex told him to tell me to let him stay up that late and told him to go for it!  It was a struggle for him but he was determined.  He kept asking what time it was and I would say, "oh 12:30"  And then he'd reply "ok, only a half hour more"  It was funny.
He got a rip stick.  He had mentioned before Christmas that he wanted one.  So being the great mom that I am I picked it up the day after Thanksgiving at a smokin' deal!  When he opened it he didn't seem as excited.  We asked if he really liked it/wanted it and he hesitated not wanting to hurt our feelings.  We told him to tell the truth and he said, "not really".  So we told him we were glad that he shared his feelings rather than pretending it is what he wanted and then letting it collect dust and never get used.  So we returned it and he got the cash.  He is still trying to decide what he wants instead.  He may save up for an ipod.
On the 17th, the day before his birthday it was the Pinewood derby.  Being the chocolate lover that he is he went for the Hershey bar car.  His car came probably in the middle of the rankings.  He won some and lost some but had a great time!  His car was voted the "Most Tasty" car.

TV as a babysitter?

C'mon... admit it! All who have children have used the T.V. as a babysitter a time or two. Sometimes it was the only way I could get a little more sleep in the morning when Mal and Trent were little and I was working late nights waitressing. Or just needed them to stay occupied while I cleaned a bathroom or had a phone conversation with someone. Either way it came in handy a time or two or three!

So now my dilema.... Raegen is not interested in the T.V. at all. I couldn't figure it out, I thought how can she not even care about the singing, dancing, animals, anything? Well I finally found what she likes to watch. Yes, she can't keep her eyes off of the T.V. when Gymnastics are on the Olympics! Then she tries to or thinks she is doing the moves. I guess this means look for her at the 2024 Olympics!!

Basketball

Malory really enjoyed her first year of playing basketball. She made 2 baskets all season and she was fouled once and went to the free throw line. She was a better defensive player than offensive, but she was a great hustler and she stole the ball several times!

She is # 3!

The girls had fun. I thought some teams were a little to competitive. Being 5th and 6th graders. One coach had his team full court pressing by the beginning of the 2nd quarter when the score was 2 to 2. A little over the top for me. I say let them go out there and have fun!

This was the game that she was at the line. I missed the picture of it though because I forgot that I had brought my camera!

Pinewood Derby!

Trenton had his first Pinewood Derby last Wed. He and Andrew looked on the inet for ideas for cars. And they came up with a skate board!

Of course there had to be a skull on it to make it extra cool!
Will the hard work pay off???
Our Den leader couldn't find the Derby track so we had to improvise and slide the cars down the gutters that are normally used for the rain gutter regada. Trenton's skateboard won a couple of races but all in all was more cool looking than efficient down the track. He came in last. But they had fun!

when your daughter......

when your 5th grade daughter gets more for Valentines day then you, you know you're in trouble. Malory's boyfriend Devontae gave her this teddy bear, a tin with hershey kisses, a container/tote with gum, a fake rose, and a note pad with a kitten on it for valentines day! I picked out my own candy bar
and Andrew made me a
little card. Well I had cut out some hearts for the kids for Valentines and he used one of those and wrote my name on it and decorated it a little. What a romantic!! Actually, I really don't care. I told one of my single sister-in-laws who referred to valentines day as "single awareness day" that I more saw valentines day as a day to tell those that you care about that you love them day. But, needless to say Malory was very excited. And by the way. She and Devontae have already broken up. It was a misunderstanding though (as Malory says) They were talking on the phone one night when the phone was disconnected and Devontae thought that Malory had broken up with him and hung up. By the next day at school when Malory could explain, Devontae had already asked another girl to "GO" with him. AHHHHH...... young love. It's not about love its about being cool and just being able to say you have a boyfriend/girlfriend. It cracks me up!

The partying is over!

Trenton's b-day is on Jan. 18th. He turned 9 this year! We started on the 18th and had cake, ice cream and opened his presents.

Andrew had to work the night of the 18th so the next night we went to Amarillo so Trenton could spend his birthday money and to go to dinner. He was able to buy a new skateboard and new roller blades with his birthday money. We then ate at a very touristy place called "The Big Texan" They are famous for their 72oz steak challange. That is if you eat the entire 72 oz and everything that goes with it, salad, rolls, side dish etc. in 1 hour then it is free. If you decide to take on the challange then they have this special table on a stage where everyone can see and take pictures. Yes a few guys took on the challange when we were there! I don't know how anyone could actually eat all of it, it was HUGE! If you did I think you might end up in the hospital afterwards! Anyway, We of course couldn't pass the opportunity to take the kids picture in the ginormous rocking chair! And we had fun playing a few rounds at the shoot out area. Fun place to go for the kids. They all got free cowboy hats. But it is very expensive so I don't know that we'll be going back again anytime soon.

Finally, on Feb. 15th we had Trenton's party with friends. We had to wait this long because the roller rink was booked out until then. When you live in a small town there is not a lot of choices for parties and the skate park is the "HOT" place right now. I know this is blurry but it is Trenton showing us how to limbo on roller blades.
Trenton wanted to have brownies and ice cream in stead of cake.
So Trenton the little lover boy, decided to ask this girl sitting by him to be his girlfriend! Her name is Macey and she has had a crush on him all year long. Kids are funny. It cracks me up!

funny girl

Raegen likes to make us all laugh by pulling this face and and breathing heavily through her nose! It is too funny. I will try to post the video of it but I am not sure exacly how to do that. Any tips?
