simply modern

i have to start off by saying what a fantastic weekend i had! i hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well! danielle from girlracer scrap came up to visit for the weekend, and i had so much fun!! she's the best! we went to an awesome carnival on saturday and then did a 12 hour crop on sunday!! yikes!

anyway, on to the card - i made this for the challenge at everything but the kitchen sink. i have to say, i. love.these.colors. ha!!! they're my favorite, for sure! :) check out this inspiration:

yeah, enough said, i know. :)
here's my card:

i made those felt flowers by cutting out 3 different sized circles and then i sewed a button on. the stamp is from hero arts and i really love it!

this card us super modern and minimalistic, but i still like it! maybe it's the colors!
enjoy!

happy winter

that's right, another christmas card done - check! :) and this time i used the sketch from everything but the kitchen sink's latest challenge. fun! here's the sketch:

i decided to go a little monochromatic for my card. how can i not, i love teal. love love love!

i used a 2 inch ribbon for the light teal, and a 1 inch ribbon for the dark teal. the stamps are lawn fawn - naturally. :) i immediately thought of pinstripes when i saw the sketch, so that's what i went with! :) both the sentiment and the background with snowflakes are popped up for dimension.

it's a simple card, but simple can be fun, right?
enjoy!

everything but the kitchen sink - christmas style

this is the inspiration for the latest challenge over at everything but the kitchen sink:

squeal! i want it! it's so cute! but besides all that, it was so easy for me to make a card based on that when i loved it so much, so here we go.

as i have mentioned in the past, i'm trying to churn out some christmas cards, so i went christmas all over this challenge. :) obviously i can't get enough of cozy christmas from lawn fawn - hence the lights and sentiment! (by the way, i have a super fab idea for the lights which i've been dying to try out on a card! so hopefully the right challenge/card/mood will strike, and i'll be able to create it! mwa ha ha!)

back to the card at hand! i stamped onto the black cardstock, and then also onto separate red and green cardstock. then i cut some of the red and green lights out and popped them up on the front of the card! and i used a really fun tab punch for the side of the card for some added pow.
i think this card is bold and bright, just like the inpsiration photo of the bag!
enjoy!

everything but the kitchen sink - macgyver style

yeah, you read that right. i totally macgyver-ed this challenge at everything but the kitchen sink - and just in time too (in true macgyver fashion, of course)! below is the sketch for this challenge:

i think it's so cool that the sketch is based off of the playstation - my husband loves video games, so i could totally relate! :) here's my take, and then i'll explain!

here's somethink you should know. i love peanut butter and jelly. like, an unhealthy amount, i could eat pb&j everyday.now that that's out of the way...

ok, so first of all, i fliped the sketch over. and the stamps, ah the stamps! perhaps you may recognize them from lawn fawn's cozy christmas set? i have (once again!) modified the poor little glass of milk into peanut butter and jelly jars! (maybe one day i'll actually use the cute, little glass of milk in the intended way - a glass of milk!) anyway, i stamped the image on to white cardstock, scanned it into the computer and erased the 'wave' lines of the milk. then i fliped the image so i could have them facing each other! he he!

i drew the peanut myself and cut it out, and the strawberry was part of a border stamp set i had, from which i cut out one. as if that wasn't enough macgyver-ing, i also used toothpicks (which used some of my brown stamp pad to darken) for the body of the tree! then i used my cloud punch to create the 'leaves' of the tree.

what do you think? totally macgyver-ed. i know. *sigh*. i figured, it's an 'everything but the kitchen sink' challenge, so why use conventional items!

everything 'buzz' the kitchen sink

are you ready for this one? it's another challenge (shocker!). this time it's for everything but the kitchen sink - challenge 22: hair accessories! that's right, the challenge was to utilize a hair accessory in your project. how fun!

so here's my card:

i made the bee's body by glueing yellow ribbon and black ribbon together, so that one side was yellow and one was black - and you better believe i'll be using that technique again! then i just layered the ribbon back and forth to create the stripes! i drew her face on and used black rhinestones for the antenna, and the end! one bee ready to go! :)

the bobby pins are supposed to represent flowers. i blinged them out as well, and added bright rhinestones to give the 'flower' effect. and the sentiment is supposed to symbolize the grass - which i popped up with foam squares for more dimension (i give myself a wide creative license. ha ha!)

anyway, that's my card - now it's your turn!

enjoy!

a big thank you

this past week, my friend and her husband came down to visit me in florida! i hadn't seen them for over a year, and it was such a great visit - i'm SO sad to see them go. i knew i wanted to create a thank you card to show them just how much i really appreciated their company (and all the time off they took from work, and all the money we spent - he he!).

i decided to combine my idea for their thank you card with the new challenge over at everything but the kitchen sink - challenge 21! the challenge this week is below:

i have never created anything (card, layout, etc) with a cup-thing before, but i have been wanting to try it for sometime. and with this sketch, it seemed like it was screaming for it! not to mention how it resembles a snow-globe. i love LOVE how you can shake the card and it's like a mini snow-globe! how fun!
i was going for a polka dot theme - ha ha! i also added some brads at the bottom of the card, because although i do like, clean cards, it seemed like it needed just a little touch extra down there!
anyway, that's my card! and i really hope my friend likes it! more importantly, i hope it conveys to her just how special and thankful i am for her!
enjoy!

so very simple

i decided to make this card for the 20th challenge over at Everything but the Kitchen Sink. the challenge this time is buttons! the buttons i used on my card were found around the house. two of the extra buttons came attached to clothes, and one of them i found in my great-grandma's sewing kit! awesome!

i knew i wanted to make ice cream cones with the buttons, and the next step was figuring out a sentiment.

this card is very simple! i kept the colors simple (pink, brown and cream - i went with a 'neopolitan' ice cream feel!), and it's hard to tell, but the buttons are a pink, brown and cream as well. the layout is simple, but i think it works for this card.

don't forget to make your card for this challenge too!
enjoy!
