Christmas with Chelsey & Dean in Idaho . . .

shopping . . . . . baking . . . . .
. . . a mini spa day with Chelsey . . . . .
and a beautiful Christmas day . . . with family . . .
and food . . . including some of our family favorite
appetizers we've served for many years,
shrimp cocktail with Ritz crackers
and Velveeta Mexican cheese dip,
a wonderful ham dinner
with mashed potatoes made by Dean
and some of his family favorites . . .
. . . a day of giving and receiving.

Thank you, Chelsey and Dean,
for the beautiful Christmas day
and all you did to make it special!

Chelsey made the wreath over the mantel
from a ceiling medallion.
It turned out beautiful!

Hope you had a
wonderful Christmas with your family!

Thanksgiving in New York

We had the pleasure of spending
Thanksgiving in New York.

Our daughter and family moved
to Brooklyn last month . . .

We went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

and got to enjoy it through the eyes of a 2 year old.

 who happened to love Snoopy!

Thank you so much,
Reed, Whitney and Tayvee,
for the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner
and the days we spent with you.
We are thankful and blessed.
We look forward to spending
Christmas with our other daughter
and husband at their new home in Idaho.

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday
with your family.

An Heirloom Baby Gown and a Giveaway!

Today, for White Wednesday,
I'm sharing about a family heirloom baby gown.

We found this baby gown in the family trunk
along with some other heirloom items . . . .
a crocheted bedspread
made by The Captain's grandmother
along with some of her crochet supplies
and an old crocheted handbag,
some old wood hangers,
a few other keepsakes and some family photos.

I also love the little pink rose baby hanger;
I can't remember where we got it.
I love the details on this baby gown.
It hangs on a dresser in our shabby chic guest room.

We're not sure who wore it or who it belonged to . . . . .

Maybe it was this little girl,
The Captain's grandmother . . .

or one of these sweet babies . . .

or maybe this adorable little girl,
The Captain's aunt . . .

I can easily get tearful when looking at old photos.
Just looking at sweet little babies at the beginning
of their lives, and now they are no longer with us.
Photos of their memories, enjoying life.

Thanks for stopping by today
and sharing some family treasures with me.

I'm also celebrating
my one year blog anniversary
and will be announcing A Vintage Rose Giveaway
later today, in the next post.
A burlap bag full of vintage treasures!
and a
$20 gift certificate to Saltbox Treasures etsy shop.

Stop by the next post here and
just leave a comment to be entered!

Time with Family and a little Thrifting

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
We got to spend it with our kids and granddaughter.
So, we got to do some of this . . .

and give lots of hugs and kisses.

We got to do a little thrifting and will be
adding some new items to my etsy shop.

Next week is going to be baby week on my blog.
I'll have a tutorial on how to make a diaper cake,
since I'm making one this week for a friend,
and some easy to make baby shower
decorations and pom pom tissue flowers.

Hope you all have a great week!
I'm enjoying our new garden blooms
and can't wait to get outside
to work in the garden.

Meet my Captain

You may, or may not know, that I have been wanting
to come up with a blog name for my husband
other than hubs, hubby, husband, Kevin, etc.
None of those seemed right,
and he didn't care to be called hubs or hubby.
So, I've come up with an appropriate blog name . . . Captain,
and it is fitting since he is a Captain with the Fire Dept.

Let me take a few minutes and introduce you to My Captain.

He is committed to God and family

Father of the Bride, youngest daughter Whitney
Father of the Bride, oldest daughter Chelsey
Grandpa
Determined to help Tayvee draw her first Thanksgiving hand turkey
Sharing his job with our twin great-nieces

Henceforth in blogland, at Saltbox in the Country, Captain or My Captain
will refer to my wonderful, amazing husband, sweetheart and best friend,
who has stuck by me through thick and thin for 33 years,
who knows what it means and believes in always and forever.

Thanks for stopping by today and
meeting My Captain.
Have a great week!
