Seriously?

At the pool...and apparently I still look like I'm 16. I know I look young...but really?

Seventeen year old boy: hey how are you? You look lonely

Me (24 yr old married woman): um, I'm good...not really lonely, I'm just cooling off in the pool.

17 yr old boy: oh ya. So you like to party?

Me: um no, no I don't.

17 yr old: what?!? Then how do you kick it?

Me: oh ya know...I study a lot. Once you've grown up your priorities kind of change.

17 year old boy: (now sitting on the side of the pool trying to flex his boyish muscles) oh ya, I know what you mean. I'm getting ready for my senior year and I feel like my parents are totally pressuring me to go to college and to graduate high school. So who do you live here with?

Me: my HUSBAND!

End of conversation...as I swim away

Pictures from my phone that make me laugh

K so you can't make this picture out very well...because its a picture of a picture of a picture.  But for Mickie's birthday we went to Good Things Utah and Amy Rycroft was there (mom from little people big world).  So we had to get a picture taken with her. Can you guess why it's funny? um, maybe because you can't tell who the real little person is.

This picture doesn't really make me laugh, but it does make me smile.  We took this a few weeks ago at the Real vs Monterrey game.  Shawn had just chopped his hair.  He looks so much younger with short hair!
My cute cousin Emily wearing my glasses on Easter.

Curtis reading "Who Pooped on my Head".  Great book!
This picture was taken a few weeks ago, in MAY!  I can't believe this weather we've been having.  This certainly did not make me laugh at the time.  I think I actually cried.  But it does make me laugh now.

I told Kallie to give Preslie a hug...she did NOT want a hug.  These girls are so cute!

We have these fake mustaches in one of our token vendings at work for the kids.  Thought I would try one on a couple of years ago.

Again, a picture of a picture...Pizza in Chicago.  Good times with my family!
A few months ago I found Kal in the bathroom...I love this picture because her face says it all.
Shawn was so funny...he loved this Gaurges Seurat painting.  We went back to it a few times (:
Oh...what an interesting piece of art...oh wait...its made from human hair??? Ewww! This was at the cultural hall in Nauvoo.

Kevin...remember that one time when you made us all walk 2 miles in the pouring rain?  Just to see the millennium bean?  Good times, good times.
This is just so freaking cute...I was out watching the kids and Preslie woke up from her nap.  She was sad that her mom was gone, and only wanted her big brother to comfort her.

Ashley & Charity's little doodle in church...
Shawn can teach anyone to play soccer...even one year old Justin.

Random January

I have a bunch of random pictures from January that I don't know what to do with...

My first batch of vegan cookies! They turned out so yummy...we tested them out on our families and no one could tell they were vegan (I even used egg replacements). We went ice skating with Suz & Paul ...
I will be so sad when she doesn't let me do her hair anymore!
Raylene & LaDonna...these are my 2 favorite people at work. They are such awesome girls...Ray is the best single mom I know (seriously the best) and LaDonna is my work mom. She is always there to give me good advice...and to tell me that I need to see a counselor about my "ocd". Love them!
Kal is obsessed with Maggie, and Maggs loves her too!
I found these babies a few weeks ago at Smiths. I have had probably 4 bags since then. I love love love them!
I don't know why she loves to get in Maggie's kennel?
Kevin & Spencer decided to bring a puppy home one day. My parents are not so happy about it. He is only aloud in the basement. His name is Ninja. He is pretty dang cute!!! Bad news...Maggie is so afraid of him.
Shawn and I tried out Korean food the other day. It wasn't so bad. It seemed pretty healthy too.
Kind of scary looking though...
Last Sunday we were at Shawn's parents for dinner. Stacey said "who's stinky?" then Pres put her hand in her diaper and pulled out some nastiness. It was so gross but so so funny!

Dumpster Diving

Dear Journal,

Last Sunday, before church, the husband asked where our rent check was. He said he had left it on the table, but I didn't know where it was, and couldn't remember ever seeing it. While I hurried to Nursery, Shawn stayed home to look for it.

Now apparently there is a difference between a cashier's check & just a normal check. A big difference! A cashiers check is the same as cash...and evidently that's what we use to pay our rent.

Shawn showed up to Nursery an hour late...with no luck finding the check. The thing is I have a bad habit of throwing things away...nothing is safe when it's put on the table. So we knew what we had to do.
While I was at church Shawn had already probed around the dumpster with a broom. I didn't want this issue to become a big fight, so I offered to get in the dumpster. Can you even believe it? I didn't even make a big deal out of it.

I was wore lots of layers and every inch of my body was covered so that nothing could touch my skin. Before I climbed in we decided that the game plan was to start at one corner, work my way down and then around while handing bags out to Shawn. Worst part was the dumpster was full and it was 14 degrees outside!!! It was actually pretty easy to tell which garbage bags were ours or not.

So after going all the way, down, and around the dumpster our bag was on the very last bottom corner. We took the bag out and where was the check? In the bottom of the bag on top of the junk mail. I threw it out with the junk mail...

At least we found it right? Shawn grabbed his phone to take some embarrassing pictures, and then sent it to my entire family. No one could believe I got in the dumpster.

The end...still can't believe I did it!

A little bit of everything...

Shawn and I have been very busy lately. Time is just flying by. I love the evenings and Sundays that we get to spend together. I love Shawn so much more now than ever before. I finally talked him into getting a gym pass with me at the rec center up the street. He has a little bit more free time now that fall soccer season is over and the trainings for winter take up a lot less time. It's a little different working out with him...he kind of messes up my groove. But that's okay!
This is my scarf made out of post its. Work is good...I love the girls that I work up front with. They are amazing women and I learn a lot from them!
This was the sunset at the last game of the season.
My bestest bestest friend Brooke is getting married next week. I am so excited for her. I was able to go to her bridals with her. They are going to be gorgeous!
Nursery still sux...kind of. We have got things a lot more organized and that makes Sundays a lot better. We get to teach the cutest little kids. We found these on our doorstep the other day...from some of our favorite kids (payton & hannah). It makes the hard work worth it!
I had to take off my fake nails a couple of months ago. I had fake nails for about 5 years straight...it was a little bit sad saying goodbye. I just loved having them...but I just couldn't spend the money on them and drive down to Lehi anymore. The thing I miss the most are the monthly therapy sessions I had with my cute nail lady. I miss Shanolyn! But...I found out that I can make nails pretty all by myself! These are my nails now...
Shawn has been volunteering in the press box at the last couple of Real games. He has loved it. Every time he volunteers we get 2 free tickets. The seats were pretty good too. I took Elena with me.
They have been passing around this big MLS champ flag the last couple of games. It was so depressing the other night when they lost and didn't even make it thru the first round of the playoffs. Oh well...
I have been in school for 6 months now!!! I can't believe it. It has flown by. I have made the greatest friends...we call it a wolf pack. It is kind of hard to get into... (: So far I have taken College Success, Anatomy, Physiology, Math, Communications & Microbiology. Lucky for me I didn't have to take the 2 English courses because those transferred...but the other girls have recently taken those ones as well.

Life is great!

100th Post!

100 pOsTs iS kInD oF a BiG dEaL...
wouldn't you agree?
And...
so is kissing a frog!

You should have seen the look on Shawn's face when he saw me running after this frog. I don't know why he was so surprised... I have told him many times that I used to be a tom boy. Growing up I caught hundreds of frogs, snakes & lizards.

He must not have believed me.

So cheers to another hundred posts!

oUr LaTeSt ObSeSsIoNs !

So these things kind of contradict each other...but we aren't perfect yet!
We have recently discovered all of these new fabulous yogurt places. You know...the ones where you get to choose between a couple dozen flavors of frozen yogurt...and then pick a million different toppings.

This book is amazing. We are loving it. I'm going to make my family read it.

We are addicted!

This book is pretty awesome too. If you want to make a healthy lifestyle change read these 2 books. So far they are our favorites.

We have been attempting to change our diet over to one that is more plant based (or healthy). We can't believe how much better we are feeling with in just 1 month. I can't imagine how much better we will feel in 1 year!

Benefits from just 1 month:
  • We both have more energy!
  • I poop every day!!! Seriously this is a big deal for me.
  • Shawn has been off of his meds for a 9 days now and we haven't noticed any side effects! This is a pretty big deal too!
  • I don't feel bloated all of the time.
  • Sleeping better.
  • Less head aches.
  • Our joints aren't bugging us as much. I used to wake up every morning and my joints would ache. Like my elbows, knees, wrists, fingers etc. I used to also have to get up at least 1-2 times in the middle of the night to take Tylenol for my restless knees. I haven't done that in a while!
Bryce gets home on Thursday! We are so excited!!!!!

Watching Miles & 101 Dalmations

Our friends asked us if we could watch Miles last night. Shawn had soccer, but Miles and I hung out and had fun. He is one of our favorites in nursery. He is the poor kid that Shawn scarred for life...Shawn took him to go to the bathroom and sat him on the toilet...but he ended up peeing all over his pants. Shawn felt so awful. He kept telling Miles over and over how sorry he was. It was a good lesson for Shawn (;
He is so cute!
He had some great decorating ideas!
We watched 101 Dalmations. It's one of the only Disney movies we own.
Some of the highlights of the night:

He dropped a piece of macaroni on the floor and went to throw it away...and then farted REALLY loud when he thought he was being quiet in the pantry. We both laughed really hard for a long time.

He told me that the magnets on my fridge were oval, square and circle shapes! I was so impressed. He is only 2!

He bonked me on the head. Really hard! When I told him it hurt he told me that I could play with his truck to make me happy.
He cried when he had to leave.

I woke up craving

This!!!
Today, all I need is a beach...
It doesn't need to be exotic or tropical
I'm not picky...
All I need is the sand, smell, sounds & ocean breeze.
I don't think that's too much to ask for...
Do you?
I so wish that we could just pack up and drive to the beach.
I wouldn't even mind if it were a couple of hours away...
(sigh) One day!

Duh...

I wouldn't think you would need to put up one of these...

in a freaking dental office.
.
I'm at work (I work in a dental office). And a gramma just brought in her grandkids ... along with her family dog!?!?
.
What the crap?
.
Worst part is...I told her last time that he couldn't stay in here. Do I really have to tell her aGaIn?
.
And NO, he is not a special seeing eye dog or anything like that.
.
Pretty much common sense right?
.
Dental Office=No Dogs

So I guess I'm an official "Gleek"

At first I was not the biggest fan. I actually had to be talked into giving it a second chance. The storyline is pretty crazy. Chicks pretending they are pregnant...chicks lying about who is their baby daddy...teachers blackmailing other teachers/students...pretty much it is morally twisted & very unrealistic. However, the songs are amazing and I'm addicted. The second part of Season 1 just started last night.

Here is my favorite song from last night...it's just the music!
