The kids and I are currently visiting my family in Las Vegas. Yesterday we took a short trip just past the California border, to Amergosa canyon and a date farm where we sampled various dates and saw the date palms close up. It was a very interesting place - not how you would envision a typical farm at all! Sand dunes, ugly scenery, lots of mountains, and rows of palm trees!
