Christmas Time!

I have SO much to do for the holidays and can't wait to get to them!

I've started lining things up on the dining room table.

For my tree, nothing but Jewelbrites and Paint by number ornaments.

I used the original shape, the ornament, from The Farm Chicks and shown in Country Living Magazine plus traced cookie cutters in the shapes of a candy cane and stocking.  I used a larger, duplicate paint by number and once traced, I cut them out.  I have brown and white baker's twine that I decided the white was too bright for a vintage tree, so I tea dyed the twine.

These items are for various projects.  I want to make some snow cubes with the trees and other items, a village and who knows what else.

The tree:

This is the tree I purchased at a flea market for $3.00!!!!!

I found a wonderful Jewelbrite tree topper!

A Jewelbrite tree!

This is my favorite PBN ornament!  My second one shows the house.

I still need a vintage tree skirt.  I sent a convo to an Etsy seller that has one I'm interested in but there's no dimensions in the description.  Would you agree that is something you would want to know?  Well, 24 hours later and still no answer and I see she has listed since I wrote, so I guess she doesn't care if she gets my money or not because I have decided, no answer, no sale.  It's too much money and photos can be deceiving, so I've made up my mind!

Christmas photos

A friend of mine went along with me on my last vintage shopping spree.  She was looking for inexpensive balls to make a tree.  She found a huge box of ornaments for only $5.00 and then some old vintage Shiny Brites for a good price.

She said they used to make these trees as kids and I've never seen one before so I was anxious to see one.  Today, she sent me photos!  She said they take a simple dowel and drill a hole in another piece of wood to use as a base and insert the dowel into the hole.  Then, just start sliding ornaments onto the dowel and here is the end result.

And, she got her Shiny Brites into a pretty dish:
Instant display!!  WTG, Jean, they look great!

Tree Day

You know, I've always enjoyed decorating the tree!  Despite getting it, putting it up, then deciding how you want it done this year, the dreaded lights that never seem to work from one year to the next.  Then, stepping back and thinking, nope, that is just not going to do it, so re-arranging the hanging decorations over again.

It takes hours and hours of thinking and planning, doesn't it?  After all, it's going to be up for a month, it has to look perfect!  And you want it to reflect how you feel, show handmade ornaments from friends and relatives.  It just has to be perfect.

Today was my day to put up the perfect tree.  When I finally stepped back, I knew it was perfect and had to snap a photo.

I'm not positive, but I'm fairly sure I've done Charlie Brown proud!

She sent a photo along to show me what she has done with them and I wanted to show everyone else what can be done with them. She's made package ornaments! Thanks Bea! You did a great job and I'm so pleased at how they look and thanks for sending me the photo!

Christmas Trees part II

I made another pair of tree earrings. These are done with all silver. Hung from silver lever back hoops. I do like these and couldn't resist a pair for myself! They are listed on Etsy at www.RunsWithScissors.etsy.com

On another note, go to Best Buy to shop for a new computer. About two minutes into the sales spiel, all my brain is hearing is this voice that sounds like Charlie Brown's school teacher. You know the one I mean? Like, wah wah wah wah ... What's the prettiest one you have? I want pretty, I don't know anything about specs. I did load up my shop and blog on a bunch of them to see how different things look on different computers. There was this super neat desktop computer with a touch screen! Just touch the screen and move things around.

Christmas tree earrings

I made these today and have them listed on Etsy. I'm going to make one more pair in silver. I like how they came out. They look great when wearing them, I must have a few for myself. They are wire wrapped to look like they have their own little tree stands! Aren't they cute?
