People say picture conveys thousand words. I say illustrations can do the same plus they convey the message in a much cuter way! Especially cartoons and comics!
From cartoon that I used to watch when I was young such as Tom and Jerry, Cow and Chicken, Mickey Mouse and Friends, and others, I was always feeling surprised that why all these cartoon characters can be so cute! So I tried to draw the same thing on paper but failed. :(
As I grew older, I was once addicted to comics, especially those from Japan which has already made into animation shows. For instance, Crayon Shin Chan, Detective Conan and Ranma 1/2! Top three Japanese Manga I like the most during that time! LOL
Yes, I had tried to draw those characters by mimicking the style based on what has printed on the comic books but they still looked weird anyway. Till then, I can still remember that I used tracing paper to trace the characters out in order to make them looked more perfect, or nearly the same as those on comic books! Haha, this is the cheat way! :P
Then I stopped all these as I couldn't take in my failed comic character drawings anymore, not until I found out this cute comic blog! Like to read this blog so much because the blogger's avatar is so so so cute! It was so fun by reading her comics!
So by reading her blog, somehow it triggered me to draw my own avatar...
Here is it! I drew this for the Mid-Autumn Festival that had just passed not long ago. That's me holding a lighted lantern in the dark. Featuring the green stripes shirt I bought from Bangkok and the orange skirt which my sister bought for me. XD
To brush up my drawing skill, I even bought two books about techniques on how to draw cute illustrations from the book fair at KLCC!
Determined enough? LOL
I know that by reading these two books are still not enough for me to draw more nice and cute comic characters! I need some shortcuts or tips from the professionals!
Luckily, I found that Nuffnang is kind enough to provide a golden chance for those comic blog's readers or whoever enjoys reading/drawing comics to meet with Nuffnang featured comic bloggers (CheeChingy.com and Dontlikethatbro.blogspot.com)!!!
Gosh! I want to meet up with these two awesome comic bloggers at CAFFEine, on 10 Nov 2012! I want to know what's their secret behind that makes their comic characters become so cute and the comic stories are so humorous! And, I am also curious about how they looked like actually because we seldom got the chance to see their face appeared on their blog. This is a really really good chance! *laugh cheekily* no la this is joking XD
I still feel that my drawing don't have my own style, or even a very own personality. My avatar is still very normal, an ordinary female comic character. There's a big room for improvement :/
Therefore, I really wish to attend this comic bloggers gathering because I need their guidance very much. Wondering what kind of style suits my drawings better?! Hope I can learn something new from the meeting with them. :)
x.
