Dear Jaida,
Today you turn 7 years old. We're celebrating in Lake Powell! Lucky girl.
I'm so glad you're my oldest kid. You've taught me more than any other person in my entire life. In 7 shorts years you've completely changed the person that I was. And that's a good thing.
The other day you asked me why the oldest kid always has to do everything. I told you that God put you first in our family for a reason. He knew you'd be a good example and a HUGE help to your mom and dad.
I love your personality. I think you're alot like I was when I was a kid.
You love to be in charge. And pretty much insist on it most of the time. You always have friends come to our house to play so you can be the "boss". For now, your friends tolerate that. And so does Mya. One day that might change and things could get ugly. :)
You are going to be a really good mom one day. You love to take care of younger kids and you are always making sure Mya and Carter are taken care of. We went to Lagoon the other day and though I couldn't hear what was being said, I could tell by your body language that you were telling the worker he needed to make sure Mya was buckled in really good.
You aren't afraid to talk to anyone. You have a lot of confidence. You aren't intimidated by anyone.
You are very independent and like to do just about everything on your own except fall asleep at night. You still want someone next to you in the bed while you fall asleep.
You usually think I don't know anything and try to correct me alot. I asked you one day if you thought I was dumb and you replied "yes". I asked why and you said because I don't go to school. I had to then educate you on the number of years I had already gone to school. I don't think it changed your mind about me being dumb. One day hopefully your mind will change on that. :)
You have your own sense of style and I can't pick out clothes for you anymore. I always bring home the wrong thing. Our styles are very different. But that's okay with me. I want you to be who you are, not who I am. Although sometimes I still take the liberty to say no. You pick out some crazy stuff sometimes.
You get along so well with Mya. You guys are buds and very rarely fight. You watch out for her and never complain when she goes to your friends houses with you. You tag along with her alot to her friends houses.
You wish Carter would let you do more for him. You're always trying to help him and mother him and most of the time he just screams at you. "He hates me" you always say. I try to make you feel better by saying he just really loves his mom and one day he'll let you do more for him. I don't think you believe it.
You are very girly. Love makeup, nail polish, cute clothes, cute hair. But you're also not afraid to get dirty. You love camping, riding your bike, swimming. You're very active. Perfect kind of girl.
I tell people you'll probably be a nurse one day. You love to take care of people and nothing, nothing grosses you out. You squish spiders in your fingers, don't even flinch at the sight of blood, and once scooped Mya's poop out of the tub with your bare hands without even thinking twice.
You are a really good eater and will generally try anything at least once. You have a good appetite just like your mom.
You ask all the time if you can wear makeup to church and school. When I said no your reply was "But you wear makeup to church." We had a little talk about being old enough for certain things. You still wanted the makeup on.
You love, love, love to dance. You could sit and watch people dance all day. And you have some pretty sweet moves whenever we have music on at the house. I finally signed you up for dance classes. Hip Hop. Can't wait to see the recital.
I love you more than I could ever tell you in words. Don't ever, ever forget that. Love you no. matter. what!!
Happy Birthday J.
