P-Rail Making

This is how it happened..
The idea came out during my office hour,
Sketching out a very simple blueprint and sent to my brother Yaw;
and he agreed to take a shot see if we could make it.
So we went to get wood, PVC pipe, screws, and all the tools & equipment ready
on a Saturday morning.
I want to thank Yaw, for all his strength, power, passion, support, energy, etc.

prailmaking_008
First of all... you need to buy the materials.. Wood and PVC Pipe.. and of course, you must have your tools and equipment and do not forget your safety equipment as well.

prailmaking_007
It is a little IMPOSSIBLE if you think you can do it alone. So.. you will also need the best brother in the world to help you up.

prailmaking_023
Then only we start Making a P-Rail.

prailmaking_009
Measurement & Angle is important in making the "A" which accommodate the PVC Pipe.

prailmaking_010
Once done, Drill both pieces of wood to form a solid base from avoiding the "A" splitting.

prailmaking_011
Saw to trim the base #1.

prailmaking_012
Saw to trim the base #2, obviously, we need 2 bases, at least.

prailmaking_010
finishing base #2

prailmaking_015
Now, how to drill the PVC on the "A"?

prailmaking_001Measuring is required again.

prailmaking_002
Perfect is not necessary, but Do it precisely.

prailmaking_003
And this is how we secure the "A" on the Base.
3 screws went down directly.
Make sure they all go all the way in, best is to force them flush.

prailmaking_016
Most ppl still didnt get this as most of the online "How to make a P-rail edit" didn't show as close as this.
So, this is how we did it. Drilled a hole from the PVC and...

prailmaking_017
a screw went through the pipe and lock itself onto the "A".
You got to make sure the angle is correct.

prailmaking_020
And to avoid the crack like this.. drill at least approximately half a foot from the edge of the wood. Unless u are getting a high quality wood, then this notice is discard.

prailmaking_014
More screws for the base.
If the screw is too long and somehow pops out from the wood when u do the drilling from the PVC to the "A" with a wrong angle, you can alway cut the screw to shorter.

prailmaking_004

prailmaking_019
Almost done..

prailmaking_018
Final turn of the final screw, finally

prailmaking_006
Finally!!!
Yeah!!! This is it, the making of P-Rail.

prailmaking_005
Truly from WEE BROS. ENGINEERING CO.
Haha~!!!

prailmaking_021
If u love stickers.. you could add them on as deco for ur personal p-rail.

prailmaking_022
After that.. Start skating~

Hope you enjoy reading this "P-Rail Making" page.
Try it yourself, GOOD LUCK!

IMG_1721
Just to share with you guys on what I've been doing lately,
And I believe that the picture above is clear enough to see.

My original Blue Valo AB.1.

IMG_1694
And this is how the naked boot looks like.

IMG_1696
Here they are, the whole sets of Valo,
Quite a lot of work, but not as bad as I've imagined.

IMG_1707
Masking taping.. take 1...

IMG_1708
Masking taping.. take 2... And ready for new color.

IMG_1709
Red buckle is done...

IMG_1722
And Valo "Captain America" skin is in the air~!!!!

IMG_1725
Did not take a super long time for them to dry up completely,
So they are essentially ready for booting. =)

IMG_1726
This is it~!!!
My new Valo "Captain America"~!!!

CaptainAmericaVALO
This is how it was planned in Photoshop edit,
I think I've done not bad!!!

Well, I think my 1-year-old Valo deserves something different after sometimes.
The new color might stands for at least 6 more months?
Or more? Or less? Who knows?
With the new color scheme plus the D.I.Y work,
Having to see the changes of my skates is definitely a special treats,
I never thought I could have done so "not bad" too, Haha!!!
See you guys in the park tomorrow~!!!

Captain America is coming to safe the world~!!!

Valo Liners Improvement Review

Before and after I got my Valo on my feet,
Many people was talking about the super thin liners of Valo,
And also the footbase problem, everything was too thin.
However, looks like the Valo AB.1 had a promise of improving it.
As a result, I think the liner cushion fits me with comfily.
But the footbase is quite unsatisfying I can say,
As far as I could feel, it is as thin as you could even feel the screws of the boot base.

TineSponge
Here I would like to share my idea to improve the better footbase.
Giving me more comfy and 'Air'... Yah, like Nike Air kind of thing.
All I need is just a simple 2mm thick product wrapper sponges from my office.

ScissorNPen
A pen and a scissor,
And my skates ready as well, of course.

TakeOutBase
Take if my liner, and take out the liner too.

DrawingOutline
Trace my footbase on the sponge I had.

OutlineDone
Here is how it looks like,
I press my footbase flat down to trace the outline,
To get the best shape when I put it back in my skate.

CutoutBase
Then cut it out...

DrawOutline
You can always make extra pieces of footbase,
Depends on how you like your skate more spaces and fitting.
I made 2 pieces for my Valo as I think it's really necessary.

3pieces
So here I've got 3 identical footbases...

PutInAllBases
Stuff in all 3 footbases into my liner.

SchollHeelGel
And I also added a Scholl brand heel gel for more 'Air' feel.

TestFit
Testing the fitting, and it's just nice to feel I have a pair of Valo with 'Air MAX' footbase.

AO Topsoul
That's it,
Few simple steps to make a better Valo footbase,
This can be done on all kind of skates of course,
Economical and simple and good, really good.
Try it yourself~!!!
