New Music: Seth Swirsky, April March, Lee Rocker, Amoeba Teen, Son House

In this column, I feature a handful of outstanding releases released in the first four months of 2022, including a mix of new studio titles and reissues.

Artist:
Seth Swirsky
Title: Songs From The Green Couch (Lolipop Records)
You might like if you enjoy: The Beatles, the Monkees, Badfinger, Julian Lennon
Tell me more: Singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Seth Swirsky is back with another batch of indispensable ear candy courtesy of his self-produced Songs From The Green Couch, a 15-track disc that is as ambitious as it is listenable. Take the opener; "Sunny Day" opens with a chamber pop section before burgeoning into a Beatlesque celebration. The instantly-inviting "I Don't Wanna Lose You" is pure power pop and executed with absolute perfection. Standouts abound on this terrific release; the beautiful Baroque-mining "Cashmere Sweaters," the frightful "Dead," irresistible "Making It Up As We Go Along," shimmering "Rose Avenue" (the latter bolstered by some sharp guitar work from Kirk Hellie) and luxurious closer "American Bar" are among this writer's other favorites on the masterwork. "The record was a two year process," Swirsky says in the press notes for the album. "I started writing and recording the record at the beginning of a serious new relationship I was having — it continued during a very painful breakup. Thus, the album oscillates between many hi’s and lo’s for me personally, which are reflected in the lyrics. If you love melodic and smart songcraft, get a copy of "Songs from the Green Couch." Information: RealSeth.com.

Artist:
April March
Title: In Cinerama (Omnivore Recordings)
You might like if you enjoy: She & Him, Belle and Sebastian, Susanna Hoffs' 2012 album "Someday," French pop music
Tell me more: April March's In Cinerama was originally release as a limited edition vinyl-only release for Record Store Day in 2021. Thankfully, Omnivore Recordings has given this marvelous album a wider release in 2022. Singer April March (whose career in the entertainment industry has included music making with greats such as Brian Wilson and Jack White as well as being an animator on "Pee Wee's Playhouse") mines the retro stylings of classic French pop, the 5th Dimension, Belle and Sebastian and Burt Bacharach to come up with something that is magically her own. The uptempo and bouncy "Life Off," lush "Rolla Rolla," romantic genre-bending "Open Your Window Romeo," bewitching "Ride Or Divide," bouncy Runaway" and sweeping "Baby" are among the delights on the 13-track album. The audio CD version of In Cinerama reviewed here includes updated artwork, new liner notes (both in English and en Francais), printed lyrics as well as two previously-unissued bonus tracks (the wonderful "Goodbye" and "Friends Peculiar"). Information: OmnivoreRecordings.com.

Artist:
Lee Rocker
Title: Gather Round (Upright Records)
You might like if you enjoy: The Stray Cats, Carl Perkins
Tell me more: Both as a member of the Stray Cats and his subsequent celebrated solo work, Lee Rocker has done as much as anyone to keep rockabilly music alive. Armed with his signature baritone vocals and amazing talents on a slew of instruments (double upright bass, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, accordion), Rocker conjures up the magic of rock and roll's rousing beginnings across his latest album Gather Round. The fiery disc opener "Gather Round" recalls the magic he created as a member of the Stray Cats, the track bolstered throughout by Buzz Campbell's virtuoso lead guitar flash and Matt Jordan's piano work. The romantic "The Last Offline Lovers" is beautiful and showcases Rocker's emotive vocals. The album's strength spans its 10-track run, with the sly "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat," propulsive "Pickin and Grinning" rockabilly romp, tuneful "Every Time I See You," roaring "When Nothing's Going Right" and reworked take on Robbie Robertson's "Ophelia" adding to the collective magic. Information: LeeRocker.com

Artist:
Amoeba Teen
Title: Amoeba Teen (Big Stir Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Jellyfish, The Lickerish Quartet, Blur, Teenage Fanclub
Tell me more: Stourbridge, England-based Amoeba Teen's self-titled debut blasts out of the speakers with the raw approach of a concert recording (no surprise since the media release notes the foursome recorded the album live at Claptrap Studios in Stourbridge). Indeed, singer-guitarists Mark Britton and Mike Turner, drummer Carl Bayliss and bassist Simon Muttitt deliver 10 potent songs enhanced by an effective mix of garage rock, '70s glam, power pop, folk and Britpop. The quartet's winning approach shines on the melodic "Just Not That Into You," lush "New Material World," tender "A Good Reason Why," the countrified gem "January" and sumptuous "Melody Told You." Other standouts include the driving "Monica Wake Up," literate "Putting the Kids Through College" and full-blooded indie rocker "King of the Cut." Information: BigStirRecords.com

Artist:
Son House
Title: Forever On My Mind (Easy Eye Sound)
You might like if you enjoy: Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Robert Johnson, Delta blues
Tell me more: The story of blues great Son House is truly the stuff of legend. Born in Lyon, Mississippi in 1902, Son House was featured on several commercial 78s in 1930 and two field recordings captured by Alan Lomax for the Library of Congress at the dawn of the 1940s before returning to relative obscurity for more than two decades. That changed in 1964 when he was rediscovered at the age of 62 working at a train station in Rochester, New York; he subsequently returned to music and toured throughout the U.S. and Europe and was even chronicled in a story in Newsweek magazine. Fast forward to 2022 and producer Dan Auerbach (the Black Keys) has issued a stunning new edition celebrating the legendary "Father Of The Delta Blues." The remastered eight tracks on Forever On My Mind were tracked in the 1960s after Son House's reintroduction to the world (Son House passed away at the age of 86 in 1988). They offer a true glimpse into the early sounds of the Delta blues. The artist's freewheeling vocals and guitar playing are spirited and there is an otherworldly quality to the selections. Lee Rocker at The Coach House.

Music lovers who came to the legendary Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA on Friday night (Feb. 11, 2022) were treated to an outstanding set from headliner Lee Rocker, as well as two strong openers (Buzz Campbell & The Heartaches, Moonshine).

Rocker achieved international fame as a founding member of The Stray Cats at the dawn of the 1980s, and has since continued to champion rockabilly and roots rock performing on stage or in the studio alongside a wide range of legendary artists including Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, John Fogerty and Carl Perkins.

Guitar great Buzz Campbell in
action at The Coach House.

At The Coach House, Rocker was backed by his terrific trio featuring Buzz Campbell (guitar, banjo), Larry Mitchell (drums) and Matthew Jordan (keyboards) for an exhilarating 85-minute set. The troupe delivered a stellar showcase featuring plenty of Stray Cats favorites and energetic covers as well as highlights from Rocker's rich solo career and a gem from his stint from Phantom, Rocker & Slick (a project that featured Rocker, Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and guitar virtuoso Earl Slick).

The quartet opened with an extended version of "Stray Cat Strut," reworked from the oft-heard Stray Cats hit into a stylish romp where Rocker, Jordan and Campbell were each able to display their masterful chops. The fiery "Runaway Boys" followed, fully rekindling the rockabilly revival that Rocker, Phantom and Brian Setzer championed more than four decades ago.

From left, Matthew Jordan, Justin Drucker, drummer Larry Mitchell, Lee Rocker
and guitarist Buzz Campbell in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

There was a joyful spirit throughout Rocker's 20-song set. After performing a spirited version of the title tracks from the Stray Cats' 1982 Built For Speed and his new album Gather Round, he brought his son Justin Drucker to the stage and turned back the clock to deliver more stripped down material including a buoyant medley of Elvis Presley's "That's All Right" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky," an animated take on Perkins' "Honey Don't" and tender reading of Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans"
the latter bolstered by Jordan's accordion playing. He also performed an acoustic version of "The Last Offline Lovers," a song written for his wife Deborah Drucker (they celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on the day of the concert).

Rocker then picked up the tempo for the speedy number "When Nothing's Going Right" (a song from the Stray Cats' recent reunion disc 40) and retro-styled "Men Without Shame"; other late set highlights included the Louisiana-mining "Graceland Auctions" and '50s sounding ballad "I Won't Stand In Your Way."

The night ended with four standouts. The blistering "Bulletproof" (the title track off his 2003 album), soaring "Rumble in Brighton," aptly-pegged "Rock This Town" and zestful closer "Rockabilly Boogie" made for the perfect parade of cuts to close out a wonderful night.

Buzz Campbell & The Heartaches performing at The Coach House.

The aforementioned Buzz Campbell opened the bill backed by his honky tonk outfit The Heartaches, performing 30 minutes of material recalling the celebrated likes of Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens and Johnny Cash. A super talented guitarist, Campbell's vocals are also first rate. The outfit navigated a mix of solid originals and covers from a diverse field of artists including The Beach Boys and Faron Young.

Moonshine performing at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA on Feb. 11.

In addition to bassist
Justin Drucker, Moonshine features the brother-and-sister team of singer Selena Marie and guitar master Dylan DelPizzo-Howell along with harmonica pro Travis Muniz and drummer Nick Crays

From left, Travis Muniz, Dylan DelPizzo-Howell
and Selena Marie of Moonshine.
The quintet's 40-minute set demonstrated an ensemble able to blend blues, rock, jazz and country styles into something that is uniquely their own. Highlights included a reworked version of Wanda Jackson's "Funnel of Love" and their own jazzy ballad "Darlin' You Blow My Mind." The breezy "The One Who Got Away" allowed DelPizzo-Howell to showcase his impressive and nuanced guitar work.

Lee Rocker set to return with 'Gather Round' on Jan. 22, 2021

Great to see the parade of promising 2021 album continues. Here is news on Lee Rocker's upcoming eagerly-awaited solo effort Gather Round...Robert Kinsler

Lee Rocker of The Stray Cats announces release of new solo album 'Gather Round' - album due Jan. 22, 2021

LEE ROCKER of The Stray Cats fame today (12/10) announced the January 22 release of his new solo album Gather Round on Upright Records (his label distributed through Orchard). Get ready to “Gather Round,” start “Pickin’ and Grinnin,’” enjoy a“Dirty Martini,” do the “Doghouse Shuffle” and place a bid at the “Graceland Auction.”

Gather Round marks the Grammy-nominated upright bass player, singer and songwriter’s first album of all-original music since 2007’s Black Cat Bone (Alligator Records). The sizzling 10-track rockabilly album was produced by ROCKER (vocal, string bass), who is joined by Buzz Campbell (guitar, backing vocal), Larry Mitchell (drums, percussion) and Matt Jordan (piano, organ). Two songs with videos—Doghouse Shuffle” and Pickin’ and Grinnin’”—are now available, with a third track/video due out ahead of the album’s release. Pre-order the album here and watch the trailer here.

Most of the songs on Gather Round were written after the pandemic started. “My wife Deborah and I hit the road in our airstream and criss-crossed the country from California to New York and back,” shares ROCKER. “We rolled through 20 states from north to south and from east to west. In addition to the pandemic, the presidential election was raging. I wrote songs and music and drove 6,000 miles. It’s been year filled with global disaster and uncertainty. It’s also been a time of introspection and for me a time to reimagine how to record an album under these circumstances.

“When we returned to Southern California,” he elaborates, “I booked a studio to record in one day week for months. I played many of the instruments myself and had my band, Buzz Campbell, Larry Mitchell and Matt Jordan send me their tracks from remote home studios.”

Opening track “Gather Round” powerfully gets the album rolling.” It’s a song of positivity, of love, joy and happiness. When I wrote and now listen to the song, I feel like I’m raising my middle finger high in the air and waving it to 2020.”

“Graceland Auction,” explains ROCKER, “came about by my lifelong obsession with Presley. I’ve been a bit of a collector and have bid and bought various Elvis stuff. “It makes me laugh and it makes me want to cry.”

“The Last Offline Lovers” is a song “I wrote to my wife Deborah. We’ve been together for 32 years and she has been my inspiration, love, and strength. All of the instruments on this are acoustic and I played all of them with the exception of the drums performed by Larry Mitchell.”

Another album highlight is “When Nothing’s Going Right,” a song ROCKER wrote that appears on the Stray Cats’ album last year, 40. “This is the original version I recorded before the Stray Cats’ version. I feel it has that spark of original fire.”

ROCKER minces no words and looks to brighter day on “Pickin’ and Grinnin.” He says: “I wrote this song as my statement on Trump and the dividing of this country which I love. We all need to reside in the UNITED states of America. Come together gather round. I know that we all can’t agree on everything but we should be able to agree we live in a democracy and that every four years we have an election that should be respected.”

ROCKER’s infectious party spirit is in full effect on “‘Dog House Shuffle.” “It’s just plain fun! It’s really my tribute to the original rocking bass players that have influenced me so much. These guys are in a way the unsung heroes of rockabilly and early rock. We’ve incorporated these players into the video.”

Last year, in a multiple-page feature in the new Bass Player magazine (December 2019), ROCKER was asked about his ability to come up with fresh rockabilly bass-lines. He says: “I’m still discovering things. I still have revelations: ‘how did I not think of this before?’ There are a lot of different rhythms and slaps, and different ways to walk your bass-lines. There’s only 12 notes but there’s an infinite number of ways to play them.”

The GATHER ROUND track listing is:
1. Gather Round
2. Graceland Auction
3. The Last Offline Lovers
4. Everybody Wants to be A Cat
5. Pickin' and Grinnin'
6. Every Time I See You
7. A Dirty Martini
8. When Nothing's Going Right
9. Dog House Shuffle
10. Ophelia

Sights and Sounds: The Stray Cats, Pavarotti, Biffy Clyro, Paul McCartney

Here is a roundup of some of the week's biggest news going into the holiday weekend...

The Stray Cats release '40,' the band's first new album in 26 years today via Surfdog Records

Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phanton return to celebrate their 40TH Anniversary this year with new album and concert tour

The Stray Cats will release 40--their first new album in 26 years--today, Friday, May 24 on the heels of three singles they've recently issued from the album: "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," "Rock It Off" and "Cry Danger," the latter of which was premiered this past Friday at Guitar World

Brian Setzer (guitar, vocals), Lee Rocker (bass, vocals) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums, vocals)--original founding members of the iconic and acclaimed American rock and roll trio--are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2019 with 40 and a tour that's hitting the U.S. and Europe (*see tour dates below). The album is being released by Surfdog Records and distributed by BMG (CD, vinyl, digital), with an exclusive indie-store edition of the album--colored vinyl, with a double-sided 24x12 poster--arriving on May 24. "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," "Rock It Off" and"Cry Danger" are available now as instant grat tracks with a pre-order of the album.

The all revved up and red-hot STRAY CATS recorded 40 at Blackbird Studios in Nashville in late 2018 following their first North American shows in 10 years, with four concerts including sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa MesaCA before wildly enthusiastic audiences. Still buzzing from the thrill of playing together again and the crowd response, they went into the studio with producer Peter Collins (Rush, Bon Jovi, The Brian Setzer Orchestra) and engineer Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Arctic Monkeys). There are a dozen original songs that comprise the album. Read the first press release about the album here, which includes quotes from the band and the track listing. Watch the band and album producer Peter Collins in the studio discussing the making of the album here.
Early critical acclaim for 40 is rolling in:

"The album brims with bracing, stripped-down rockers like 'Cat Fight (Over a Dog Like Me),' 'Mean Pickin' Mama' and 'Devil Train,' and every track boasts a widescreen riff and virtuoso guitar solo. But the band also serves up some new sounds with the riff rocker 'Cry Danger' (co-written with Mike Campbell) and the punk-like 'I'll Be Looking Out for You.'"
--Joe Bosso, Guitar Player, May 2019

"Four decades later, Stray Cats are ready to 'Rock It Off' with the same three basic ingredients they've always used: Setzer's twangy Gretsch guitar, drummer Slim Jim Phantom's elemental thumping and Lee Rocker's expertly slapped upright bass...On the standout 'Cry Danger,' the Cats venture out of their '50s comfort zone and move boldly into '60s garage-rock territory. The track features an intro guitar riff that'll make any Beatles fan instantly think of 'Day Tripper.'"
--Kenneth Partridge, Billboard, 4/25/19

The STRAY CATS begin their select U.S. dates presented by SiriusXM on August 3on the heels of June and July overseas shows. Tickets for the shows are on sale now.

About The STRAY CATS:
The Stray Cats, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950's style brought "up to date" with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include "Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut," "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "I Won't Stand in Your Way."

Biffy Clyro share brand new track and video for "Balance, Not Symmetry" taken from the band's 'Balance, Not Symmetry' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Biffy Clyro share a brand-new track and video in the shape of "Balance, Not Symmetry," the title track from the film of the same name, which Biffy frontman Simon Neil collaborated. The bands vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter has co-written the film with director Jamie Adams. To accompany the film, Biffy Clyro wrote a full album of original material which is also available now.

Regarding the collaboration, Simon Neil explains "On meeting Jamie, we realized early on that we'd both had to deal with grief at a relatively young age and so it was interesting to talk about how we'd both dealt with it and the effect it had on us - and this is the main crux of the film, delving into the lonely world of grief and loss and coming out the other side."
The 17-song Balance, Not Symmetry explodes into life with the title track, which tightly packages Biffy's angular rhythms with the kind of sky-bound hook that they've established as a hallmark of their sound. The track is accompanied by an official video. Also directed by Adams, it intercuts the band's visceral live performance with footage from the film. Click here to view and share "Balance, Not Symmetry."

While the collection often explores Biffy's gift for arena-filling anthems on the likes of "All Singing and All Dancing," "Tunnel and Trees" and "Touch," the album as a whole leans towards introspection and experimentation. The foreboding yet elegiac "Gates Of Heaven" is quite unlike anything that the band have recorded before, "Colour Wheel" switches to a more ethereal ambience and "Touch" echoes the emotional power of previous Biffy classics such as "Many Of Horror" (from 2010's Only Revolutions) and "Re-arrange" (from 2016's Ellipsis).

The album also includes three mood-setting instrumentals ("Pink," "Navy Blue" and "Yellow") plus a studio recording of "Different Kind of Love," which originally featured on last year's MTV Unpluggedalbum. It was co-produced by Adam Noble and Biffy Clyro, and recorded at AIR Studios, Monnow Valley Studio and ICP Studios.
Balance, Not Symmetry will be available to download and stream tomorrow, with the vinyl following July 26.

Filmed in Scotland during Autumn, the Balance, Not Symmetry film follows American student Caitlin (Laura Harrier) after her father's funeral, leaving her grieving mother (Kate Dickie) behind to return to her third-year studies at the Glasgow School of Art. There she juggles her grief and end-of-year presentation with meeting a new guy, Rory (Scott Miller), and a rupture in her relationship with her housemate and BFF Hannah (Bria Vinaite). Can she again find balance in her turbulent life?

The film will be released in the U.K. on July 26 and stars Laura Harrier (BlackKkKsman), Bria Vinaite (The Florida project), Lily Newmark (Pin Cushion), Freya Mavor (The Sense Of An Ending), Tasmin Egerton (The Brothers Grimsby), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones), Shauna Macdonald (The Descent) and newcomer Scott Miller.

Paul McCartney decades-spanning "Live" album milestone reissues

AMOEBA GIG
PAUL IS LIVE
CHOBA B CCCP
WINGS OVER AMERICA

to be released July 12, 2019 via MPL/CAPITOL/UMe

Paul McCartney's legendary performance at
Amoeba Records in Los Angeles is among the
special reissues coming July 12, 2019.
Following last night’s kick-off of this year's North American leg of his record-breaking FRESHEN UP Tour, PAUL McCARTNEY adds to his Summer of LIVE: Paul has confirmed updated releases of four albums capturing performances spanning from his 1975-1976 return to U.S. arenas with Wings to his intimate 2007 set at Amoeba records in Los Angeles. The albums — Amoeba GigPaul Is LiveChoba B CCCPWings Over America — will be released July 12, 2019 via MPL/Capitol/UMe digitally, on CD and on both black and limited-edition color vinyl.

Amoeba Gig is the first full length commercial release of Paul’s surprise free concert at Hollywood’s Amoeba Music on June 27, 2007. To date only four songs have seen wide release as the Amoeba’s Secret EP, two of which were nominated for Grammy Awards in 2008: "That Was Me" for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and "I Saw Her Standing There" for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance. A few years later in November 2012, an extended 12-song excerpt of the Amoeba show titled Live in Los Angeles – The Extended Set was made available free to PaulMcCartney.com premium members for a limited period. And come July 12, 2019, a full 21-song recording documenting possibly the most intimate L.A. show Paul has ever played will be made available to the public for the first time. The millions of people not among the luckier than lucky few hundred rubbing elbows with the likes of Ringo Starr and Woody Harrelson during that once in a lifetime in-store set will be able to experience those performances of Beatles classics “The Long And Winding Road,” “I’ll Follow The Sun” and “I’ve Got A Feeling,” Flaming Pie’s “Calico Skies,” plus Carl Perkins’ “Matchbox,” Jan Garber’s “Baby Face” and an emotional rendition of “Here Today.” Additionally, the LP will include an exclusive soundcheck recording of “Coming Up."

Amoeba Gig has been newly remixed by Paul’s engineer Steve Orchard and will be available in configurations including CD, 2 x 180g black vinyl, and limited-edition color vinyl (LP1 - clear, LP2 - hazy amber transparent).

Recorded during the U.S. and Australian swings of the tour in support of 1993’s Off The GroundPaul Is Live is Paul's fifth live album. Originally released that same year, the album is famous for the multiple meanings and clues embedded in its title and cover art, all of which play on the “Paul Is Dead” conspiracy/hoax. In addition to a wealth of Wings and Beatles classics, covers of Roy Brown’s “GoodRockin’ Tonight” and Leiber and Stoller’s “Kansas City” and more, Paul Is Live also offers a peek behind the curtain: Three songs improvised on the spot and exclusive to the album, all recorded during rehearsals in various locations over the course of the tour.

Paul Is Live has been newly remastered at Abbey Road Studios and will be available in configurations including CD, 2 x 180g black vinyl, and limited-edition color vinyl (LP1 - opaque baby blue, LP2 - plush peach white opaque).

The live-in-studio Choba B CCCP (Russian for “Back In The USSR”) was released in the Soviet Union in 1988, making Paul the first Western artist to issue an album exclusively for that market. In a conscious decision to get back to his roots, Paul spontaneously spent two days covering his favorite hits from the 1950s. The sessions produced 22 songs in total (and one of the outtakes being a version of The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There”). Choba B CCCP was a deeply personal album and a way to acknowledge fans who had supported him and The Beatles since the start. “When I was very young I asked my dad if people wanted peace,” Paul explained at the time. “He said to me, ‘Yes, people everywhere want peace – it’s usually politicians that cause trouble.’ It always seemed to me that the way The Beatles’ music was admired in the USSR tended to prove his point, that people the world over have a great deal in common. In releasing this record exclusively in the Soviet Union, I extend the hand of peace and friendship to the people of Russia.” Choba B CCCP was released in the rest of the world following the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.

Choba B CCCP has been newly remastered at Abbey Road Studios and will be reissued as the original 11-track Russian release. It will be available in configurations including CD, 180g black vinyl, and limited- edition opaque yellow vinyl.

Rare #1-charting triple live album, Wings Over America is a document of one the most sophisticated and dazzling rock shows of the 1970s or any decade. Paul and the band would eventually perform to more than 600,000 people at 31 shows in the US and Canada, ending with three historic nights at The Forum in Los Angeles. It’s no exaggeration to say that the excitement that greeted Paul McCartney & Wings (Linda McCartney, Joe English, Denny Laine and Jimmy McCulloch) in the spring of 1976 as they embarked on what would become their one and only North American tour was overwhelming. Having released four consecutive chart topping albums — Red Rose SpeedwayBand on the RunVenus and Mars and At The Speed Of Sound – not to mention 1973’s Academy Award-winning James Bond theme “Live and Let Die” – Wings' career was in full flight… and as Paul’s first U.S. tour since The Beatles, the sheer joy of both the band and its fans were off the charts throughout the 90 hours of recordings distilled into this triple album. Wings Over America was last reissued in 2013 as part of the Paul McCartney Archive Collection series winning the Grammy Award for Boxed or Special Limited-Edition Package.

Wings Over America will be available in configurations including double CD, 3 x 180g triple vinyl, and limited-edition color vinyl (LP1 - transparent red, LP2 - transparent green, LP3 - transparent blue) both come with original souvenir poster.
