DIY: Easy Flower Pot Decor

Some of the DIY projects I do are pretty intricate and take a bit of time,
while others are quite easy and are completed in a matter of minutes.
This month's DIY project fell in the latter category.

The Pier1 location closest to my apartment closed recently,
but before closing they had a massive sale for the whole store.
I snagged a few item including a small flower bunch for this DIY project.

I LOVE having fresh cut flowers around my apartment
but potted plants are pretty much a no-go because of bugs.
Instead I use fake plants to decorate and today I'm creating my own!

The Goods:
Glue Stick
Small Flower Bunch

Heat up your hot glue gun for a few minutes,
then put a thick coat of glue around the rim of the pot.

If it gets a little messy, that's okay because your flowers will cover it!

Before the glue dries, place your small flower bunch on top of the vase.
Press down just slightly so they stay stuck to the glue.

Lastly, figure out where to display your super easy DIY project!

I wasn't joking when I said this one was easy.
It took me just a few minutes to complete,
and waiting for the glue gun to heat up took the most time!

DIY: Teacup Pin Cushion

For Christmas, I made my grandma a Teacup Pin Cushion.
She loves tea and she is always sewing,
so it seemed pretty fitting that I make this for her.

This DIY project was incredibly easy,
and once I had everything ready to go,
really only took a few minutes to complete!

Take a look at how simple it is!

The Goods:
Teacup
12x12 Square Fabric
Thread
Needle
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue
Fabric Scissors

Add Poly Stuffing to middle of fabric,
enough to fill up teacup plus more to overflow.

Push needle and thread through gathered fabric one time...

Making sure there's a knot at the end...

Then wrap the thread around a few times.
Make sure to pull tight so it's secure.

 Trim off the excess fabric.

Place dome side up in teacup and hot glue all over to secure.
The more glue the better in my opinion!!!

Lastly, place some pins in the new pin cushion!!!

DIY: Burlap Ribbon Wrapped Jar Vases

I love the look of burlap.
I use it pretty much whenever I can.
So when I was planning a little event a few months back,
you can bet I wanted to incorporate burlap in some way!

I knew I wanted to have some fresh flowers for decoration,
and I adore old recycled jars as vases for flower arrangements.
So I thought it would be a really cute to combine burlap and recycle jars
and make some adorable DIY vases!

The Goods:
Recycled Jars
Thick Burlap Ribbon
Thin Burlap Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue

Measure and cut your ribbon ahead of time.
And plug your glue gun in to heat up.

Place a tiny dollop of glue on the jar, followed by one end of the thicker ribbon.
Wrap around and secure with another dollop of hot glue.
Trim excess ribbon and repeat steps with thin ribbon.

Simple, yet cute!

With some white Mini Calla Lilies from Trader Joe's!

Copycat Spring Wreath

In the last year, I started making wreaths for the different holidays and seasons.
You can see a few herehere and here.
Since Spring and Easter were coming up, I knew it was time to make something festive!

I turned to the internet and found a few options.
After getting opinions from a few people I settled on this one!

I made my shopping list and after a quick trip to Michaels I was ready to go!
Take a look and how easy it was to make this beauty!!

The Goods:
Wreath
Fake Tulips
Burlap Ribbon - Two Kinds!
Floral Wire
Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Wire Cutters

Make the bow and the main bouquet.

Decide where to place and hot glue it to the wreath.

Hot glue the rest of the flowers to the wreath.

Wrap in the larger burlap ribbon.

Hang on front door for all to enjoy!!!

White Yarn Wrapped Wreath

I've been on a homemade decorations kick since Halloween and I have to say that I'm really starting to love DIY decor! There are so many fun homemade things out there and it's so easy to customize everything so it looks exactly how I want!

One of the fun things I found was a White Yarn Wrapped Wreath. I knew I wanted a wreath for my front door and after looking around for a bit, I couldn't stop thinking about this one

It didn't look too hard to make, so I got the supplies last weekend and went to town wrapping and wrapping and wrapping. Yes, it took forever to wrap. Hours in fact! Yes, folks, that's dedication! Even though it took so long to get the straw wreath wrapped, I was SO happy with the outcome.

The only thing left to do was make the felt flowers and add everything to the wreath.
That was a cinch compared to the wrapping!

Check out the wreath making fun below.

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE my wreath and am thinking I want more yarn wrapped wreaths for other seasons.
We will see...
