Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-19-1988 FLAC (repost)

Jimmy Page
Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-19-1988

This is from a French silver "The Outrider Tour" that was taken from an FM broadcast of the entire Cleveland show. The original artwork has incorrect info for the track listing. I photoshopped and corrected the track listing. I have included the wrong listing for those that might want it. I have seen the location listed as "Public Hall, Cleveland, Ohio", art says "Cleveland Music Hall". Unsure if this is pre-FM, though it seems that it is as there is no DJ banter etc.

When I first posted this I was accused of converting this from MP3 to Flac. I assure you that is not the case. I ripped it from CD and the EAC log is included. I cannot however tell you what the bootlegger did. It sounds great to my ears. If any of you sound nuts want to run a spectrum analysis on it, I'd like to know.

This is the first of many reposts I will be doing.

01 Who's To Blame
02 Prelude
03 Over The Hills And Far Away
04 Tear Down The Walls
05 Emerald Eyes
06 Midnight Moonlight Lady
07 In My Time Of Dying
08 Wasting My Time
09 Custard Pie
10 Train Kept A Rollin'
11 Stairway To Heaven

Cast of players:

Guitar - Jimmy Page
Vocals - John Miles
Bass - Durban Laverde
Drums - Jason Bonham

John Miles is quite an outstanding singer with a great vocal range. He is able to pull off covering songs originally done by both Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers, two legendary vocalists, as well as singing songs originaly crooned by the great Chris Farlowe. To me, the highlight of this disc is Midnight Moonlight Lady. In the middle of MML, Jimmy breaks into White Summer, then Black Mountainside and back into MML. Wonderfully done.

Jimmy Page talks exclusively about the band's early BBC sessions
----------------------------------------------------------------

They are one of the most successful rock bands ever, but the BBC was unconvinced about Led Zeppelin when they played their first radio session.

Documents from the BBC’s written archive unearthed by 6 Music and published today (16 Dec) show that producers invited the group to appear on a trial basis only, giving their performance a cautious welcome. A 1969 Audition Panel of BBC producers reviewed them, with future broadcasts depending on their verdicts.

One wrote: "English blues group longing to sound like Muddy Waters, but failing necessarily through being derivative...for me it’s unconvincing and I’d rather hear the genuine article."

Jimmy Page came in to 6 Music to talk to Breakfast Show presenter Shaun Keaveny about those Led Zeppelin sessions, for a Christmas Day special.

The programme, Jimmy Page and the BBC Sessions, was broadcast in two parts on Christmas Day (25 December) 2009.

The Tour For A.R.M.S. 12/8/1983 MSG, NY DVD

The Tour For A.R.M.S. USA 1983
live at Madison Square Garden, New York
Dec 8, 1983 (the Ronnie Lane encore/celebration is from Dec 9, 1983)

Another piece of Rock N' Roll History here folks.

This partial video of the A.R.M.S. concert from Dec 8th, 1983. I was at this show and was blown away as was the whole crowd. My stepbrother and I sat behind the stage, one level up and front row. I remember Ron Wood jumping the barrier behind the stage holding what appeared to be a bottle of JD. Ray Cooper on percussion stole the show. He was amazing. Joe Cocker was at the top of his game.

To me, the best part of the show was set three, the Return of Jimmy Page. This mini-tour was the first time Jimmy took to the stage since his good friend and bandmate John Bonham died. From what I have read, after Bonzo died Jimmy was so depressed, he didn't pick up his guitar for nearly two years and became somewhat of a recluse. He attended a party where Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck were talking about putting this show together. He overheard them and asked if he could join in as well. Apparently, they figured he wouldn't want to so they hadn't asked... or so the story goes. Anyway, after Jeff Beck's set, Jimmy comes walking out on stage wearing a dark jacket and scarf and the place went nuts! I'll never forget him waving to the crown, taking his jacket off, strapping on black beauty, rolling up his sleeves and ripping into his adaptation of Chopin's Prelude (as he recorded it on the death wish II soundtrack). He capped off a his set with an instrumental version of Stairway To Heaven wtih Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton joining in. It was one of the most memorable shows I ever saw.

I have always been a big fan of when Jimmy played with the Crowes having had in the collection previous amateur videos which were pretty good to say the least and the various audio bootlegs that were available to us all right through to the official release from the Greek Theatre in 1999. This release is a welcome addition to any collector, Jimmy whilst playing with the Crowes was always on fire, some people regard the vocalist as being "Tame / weak / not Robert Plant etc" should ignore this fact, cause this is all about Jimmy playing old zep standards at some of his highest standards. The highlights for me were Lemon Song, Celebration Day, In My Time of Dying. Lets not forget that the Crowes are a pretty tight and professional band and can certainly handle their instruments. The DVD itself is indeed a pro shot, where it come from who knows and who cares, the picture quality is fantastic with multi camera angles, there is a minor tape flaw in places but this does not detract from the viewing at all. The sound is simply fantastic also. This is a fantastic release and a master class in guitar playing, the intermingling of Jimmy with the Crowes guitarists is fantastic, such a pity they stopped playing. A big thumbs up on this one to the people who released it, lets hope for more. (Big Lee From Tipton Jan 07)

I converted this for use on my iTouch and thought I would share that as well. Also included is two different versions of DVD artwork. Just for the record, I happen to think Chris Robinson is an excellent vocalist. He is different than Robert Plant and while being true to the original spirit of the Zeppelin songs, he also adds some of his own flair, which is much better than someone just trying to be a Plant replacement. I've seen the Crowes live a few times, in clubs, medium size venues and at MSG on New Years Eve once, and they have always been great. This show is no exception. Enjoy!

This one sounds great! Original uploader's notes below:

Thanks to 3hrsoflunacy for continuing to supply me all the great Page & Plant audio.

Both sources were put into the multi-track function of Adobe Audition 3.0 and synced, the audience source's volume was boosted. Mastering was done after syncing. During mastering, levels at 150 Hz and below were boosted to emphasized the low tones, and levels at 12000 Hz and above were slightly lowered, this was done in an attempt to give an equal balance to all the instruments and vocals.

Both the audience and soundboard sources sounded amazing on their own, hopefully the combination of the two does as well.

- Liriodendron

I have tagged the flac files with artwork and track titles, otherwise files have been untouched by me. I have also included Nero audio CD compilation files (only a few kb's). I have created new fingerprint and md5 files.

A BRAND NEW ZEPPELIN SOUNDBOARD
September 24, 2009 – 1:26 pm Every now and then, someone in the community floats a new show. Well, this time it’s a Led Zeppelin soundboard of the 1975 tour. Enjoy.

LED ZEPPELIN
Long Beach Californication [Empress Valley Supreme Disc EVSD 523-525, 3CD]
Live at the Civic Arena, Long Beach, CA, March 11, 1975. Very good soundboard.

This show has been circulating as a very good audience recording for a while, thanks to the efforts by the legendary Mike Millard (click here). Now Empress Valley has unveiled a soundboard recording of the show.

This is what the Underground Uprising Led Zeppelin website (www.uuweb.led-zeppelin.us) noted:

“While an excellent audience recording may better capture how the band overall was actually heard in the venue, a soundboard recording better captures how the band members did perform (and enjoy or struggle) on stage. The rule also applies to this release. For instance, it more clearly and vividly captures how Bonzo played his drum kits and yelled on stage.

“Although the tape is slightly distorted at the beginning, there is no noticeable hiss noise in the new soundboard, except that there is a very noticeable digital error at the end of Moby Dick. Accordingly, it could overall be deemed as one of the best and most well-balanced soundboard recordings from the band’s ‘75 shows. (Incidentally, in this title, EV elected to use the Millard tape at the beginning of CD1 in order especially to include the famous exciting opening announcement of “The American Return of Led Zeppelin!”.)

“In the latter half of the show, the band in fact played very well, even better than on 12 March [click here] in some places. For instance, Dazed And Confused is spectacular from ‘75 standard and Stairway To Heaven is flawless and gutsy. Jimmy also played better in the funcky section in Whole Lotta Love than on the following day.”

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - "Simple Truth" - The Shark Tank - San Jose, CA - May 20, 1995 "TISDU" FLAC & mp3

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - "Simple Truth" - The Shark Tank - San Jose, CA - May 20, 1995 "TISDU"
Kiss the Stone Records - KTS 450/451
Superb Soundboard Recording probably from Pre-FM Broadcast.

This show was recorded by Westwood One and parts of it has been aired from time to time. I have the silvers from one of the broadcasts and only a few songs were aired at that time. This is the same quality, albeit mono, therefore I am led to believe this is from the master recording of this show. For some reason it was converted to mono (why the hell do the bootleggers do this?). I ripped it and did the Tisdu process on it, and it sounds much better than the original mono on the silvers, in my opinion.

This is a fresh rip of this 2-cd set by me. I Love this set and have the silvers so I thought I would rip it for those that don't have it.
Lineage: Silver CDs > Wav (CDex) > Tisdu using Audacity > Traders Little Helper/FLAC Level 8 > Front cover and details tagged to FLAC files using Mp3tag v2.42

I scanned all the artwork at 300 pixels per inch. The scans came out very good. Includes the whole fold-out insert, scans of the actual CD's and both sides of the tray insert. I haven't seen all this art anywhere else, not even the Zeppelin art website so I hope people enjoy having it.
m3u playlist files created as well.

OK. For more details on Tisdu, check this: http://www.geocities.com/michaelmcgennan/sound.html

Tisdu is basically simulated stereo. The interesting thing is that different things are heard in each ear even tho it is just "enhanced" Mono. What I did on this particular release is as follows: Ripped to wav, had both disc as full files and inserted .05 seconds of silence on the begining of the right channel, then upped the whole volume to 110% of the original (to give it a little more punch, there was no clipping), then reduced the left channel to 80% of that (see the Tisdu page above for the reason for that, I assure you the right side doesn't sound louder on the final product). Then I seperated each track from the whole and encoded to FLAC Level 8. I also split the Hurdy Gurdy Solo from Nobody's Fault but Mine and split Four Sticks from In The Evening. My preference. It's my party and I was doing this for me first, and that's the way I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh), so feel free to NOT like it if you want :-)

FFP, ST5 and MD5 files included with the FLAC version.

Track listing:

Disc 1:

Intro
Thank You
Bring It On Home
Ramble On
Shake My Tree
Intro 2
Lullaby

Hurdy Gurdy Solo
Nobody's Fault But Mine

The Song Remains The Same

Disc 2:

Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-19-1988 FLAC

This is from a French silver "The Outrider Tour" that was taken from an FM broadcast of the entire Cleveland show. The original artwork has incorrect info for the track listing. I photoshopped and corrected the track listing. I have included the wrong listing for those that might want it. John Miles is quite an outstanding singer with a great vocal range. He is able to pull off covering songs originally done by both Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers, two legendary vocalists, as well as singing songs originaly crooned by the great Chris Farlowe. This is one of my favorite recordings from the Page/Plant tours. The Wanton Song with The Immigrant Song intro is a Tour-De-Force. Ignore the EAC log files and MD5 files, they will no longer be accurate since I tagged the flac files with info and artwork. Jpegs of all the artwork are included as well. Enjoy!

Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - Simple Truth
Professionally Recorded Live
At The Shark Tank in San Jose, CA 05-20-95 (FLAC)

Many of these songs were used for a Westwood One Broadcast, though I do notbelieve all of them were ever broadcast. I am assuming that is the original source. The quality is awesome. Ripped right from the silver CD's.

Included are scans of all artwork that came with CD. Flac files tagged with artwork embedded.

Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-88

Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-88 (unsure of exact date)Ripped from CD at 192kbps bitrate.

01 Who's To Blame
02 Prelude
03 Over The Hills And Far Away
04 Tear Down The Walls
05 Emerald Eyes
06 Midnight Moonlight Lady
07 In My Time Of Dying
08 Wasting My Time
09 Custard Pie
10 Train Kept A Rollin'
11 Stairway To Heaven

Cast of players:

Guitar - Jimmy Page
Vocals - John Miles
Bass - Durban Laverde
Drums - Jason Bonham

John Miles is quite an outstanding singer with a great vocal range. He is able to pull off covering songs originally done by both Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers, two legendary vocalists, as well as singing songs originaly crooned by the great Chris Farlowe.

To me, the highlight of this disc is Midnight Moonlight Lady. In the middle of MML, Jimmy breaks into White Summer, then Black Mountainside and back into MML. Wonderfully done.
