CCEE1829

Hello to all our CCEE followers! Lynn here to share with you this week's challenge.

"Back in the day when I was a young mother, one of the first trips I planned during the summer break from school was a day at the zoo for my son and his cousins. We all loved watching the crazy antics of the animals. This week in honor of zookeepers' week, I am challenging you all to include at least one (more if you want) zoo animal on your card."

Those of you who choose to share your card in an online gallery, please include the keyword CCEE1829.

I used some great design paper on kraft and used  these lions from an old retired stamp set from Stampin' Up. Retirement means fixed income at my house, so since I have made a major investment in my stamp collecting over the years when I worked, I am now getting around to using some of these things I have had and not made much use of. It's been fun pulling out so many of these old gems

T is for Tropical and tree

When checking on challenges to do today I found that on CAS on Sunday you were to add  a splash of watercolor and for the Just Add Ink challenge this week you were to do something for the letter T. So, here is my tropical tree, with some watercoloring in the bg.  I love this old SU palm tree from a retired set. I used distress oxide inks to do my watercoloring. Kept it clean and simple by using white paper.

SOS371 and CAS Colours and Sketches

These are the colors for the CAS Colours and Sketch challenge this week:
grapefruit grove, daffodil delight, and highland heather. I used the ink and rubbed it across the inside an embossing folder, spritzed it with water and smashed my white paper inside of. Then I covered some white paper with the grapefruit grove and highland heather inks. I stamped the flower over it and then fussy cut them out. The sentiment is from Stampin' UP.

The challenge for the shopping our stash challange  was to use geometric patterns. So I picked this old embossing folder from my collection, and printed with it. The stamp is an old favorite from Stampendous.

Color throwdown challenge 496 - aqua, black, white

I loved the colors for this week on the Color Throwdown Challenge and used the masculine theme that was on the Free for All challenge on SCS today. I combined them but using these terrific colors with this old favorite stamp from Stampin' Up. I stenciled a partial pattern on the white panel before stamping on the old Chevy. Then I added a few speckles from m favorite little "itty bitty backgrounds" stamp also from SU. Since I have been stamping for over 18 years now, I just can't justify keeping these oldie but goodies unless I use them. I inked the debossing side of my embossing folder with black ink and then ran it through my machine to create the card base texture.

Less is More 369 - Bring Something back!

When I saw that the challenge for Less is More 369 was to bring something back, I thought of this old stamp set that has been sitting in my garage for some time now. It was dated 1997, which makes it 21 years old. Wow, where do those years go?? I always loved this set and just could not seem to part with it although I had not use it in a decade probably. Then I thought it would be fun to use the new Distress Oxide inks to give it a new life with these amazing inks. The sentiment is from Verve.

Black and white

This card was made for the Cards in Envy challenge which was to use the tuxedo theme (black and white only cards). I got to use scraps from my scrap pile on this one. The stamp is an old retired Stampin' Up stamp, and the diecuts were done in black cardstock. The white paper is punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. I added small rhinestones to the centers of the diecut daisies. Black and white cards are always so fun to do. I think they make such a dramatic statement because of the drastic contrast of the two colors.

Inspirational challenge 151 - only stamping

Sitting here with a bummed knee, waiting for freezing weather to head in here tomorrow, home alone, and looking for some inspiration to stamp. Browsing the internet, I checked up over at Paper Playful to see what challenges were posted for today. I found the inspirational challenge #151 to use only stamping on your card. I headed straight to the stamproom to see what I could come up with. I pulled out some old SU background stamps ( oh, how I loved those when I bought them years ago) and they are just the stamps to go to for background stamping. Then I pulled out this image and sentiment from Unity and thought this looked a little like I felt---cold and pondering the new year.

Just as in any year 2017 held some sad times and some great, and  the highlight of the year was the Astros winning the World Series. So I am sure 2018 will have its highs and lows as well, but I am feeling very blessed that my faith gives me great hope in all things. So, I hope in 2018 holds great and wonderful things for all, and we find our strength if times get rough, and we realize there are more things alike about us all than is different. LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

You can check out that challenge HERE.

CTD460

This card is for the Color Throw Down Challenge that can be found here. It's never too early to get going on those Christmas cards, so I am adding to my stash so I have less cards to have to get made in December.  I send different cards to everyone, so it is easier to do all along the way as the year progresses. I used Oxide distress ink on this, and Unity and Stampin' Up stamps. The holly leaves are a diecut.

Dragonfly Journeys True Blue challenge #100

How fun to see this challenge  taking place for the Dragonfly Journeys's 100th challenge! Trying out some of the new blue shades I have in my Distress Oxide Inks I created this background, then I stamped the large medallion is the darkest blue. I did this on watercolor paper. Then on white cardstock I stamped the girl. I colored her with copic markers and cut her out and placed her on the cards with dimensionals to pop her out a bit.  I like the way this turned out.

You can find the Dragonfly Journeys' challenge here.   https://dragonflyjourneys.blogspot.com/

CCEE1732 Insects

Anne is our fabulous hostess this week and her challenge for us at CCEE Stampers was to use an insect. So it might be a bee, a dragonfly, or any insect you would like. She also suggested using a little stickles or sparkle to the wings if it is a winged insect. I went through my bug stamp collection
and found this  old favorite of mine from Stampin' Up. It was a from a free set that I got during their Sellabration event years ago. I love the artwork on it and so I wanted a softer look for my coloring and a simple background so I went for a one layered card.  I watercolored with oxide inks and embossed the edges.

CCEE1717

Hi....Joanne is back  with her last challenge for the month of April. She writes:

When    I    think    of    April    I    also    think    of    flowers….spring    is    here    and    flowers    are    blooming.        That    is    probably    why    April    is    National    Garden    Month.        Make    a    card    that    includes    floral    or    garden    images.

We hope you will play along with us.  If you do, when uploading to SCS please use the keyword CCEE1717.

CTD408

CCEE1603 Opposites

Frances is again our hostess and her challenge is this:

Did you know that the 25th January is National Opposite Day?  For our challenge this week make a card/project that has opposites on it. Think opposite colors on the color wheel, stripes and polka dots, black and white, mirror image, etc.

We'd love to have you play along. All you have to do is create something using the above challenge, and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword CCEE1603. Don't forget to come back here and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see your card too. Check the other gals wonderful cards for this challenge while you are on the CCEE blog site.

I have to admit this was very challenging to me. But I thought about this old retired Stampin' Up set I have always loved and have kept in my stamp collection. It looks great when it is embossed, so using the opposite colors of black and white and crossing the card with a diagonal cut using opposite corners, I went with this clean and simple style of card in design. It will be fun to see what the team comes up with for this challenge.

JUGS302

For the JUGS 302 color challenge this week. I found out today that a friend I grew up with in my youth is facing breast cancer. I made this for her and since she lives hundreds of miles away, I plan to bombard her with cards to help her keep her spirits up.  I used an old retired SU stamp for the flower and a Verve stamp for the sentiment. The design papers are from my scrap pile, so this was a card from the stash! I love those kinds.

JUGS285

Here's my card for the Just Us Girls Challenge this week. I used gold as my choice color. I used an old SU sentiment, a rose image from Inkadinkado, and the lace from Paper Inspirations. I shaded the rose with a pale yellow copic marker just to add a little dimension to it. The gold is some fancy cardstock I probably got at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Trying to reduce paper stashes and this gold has been stashed for a while. I used a gold gel pen to outline on the lace.

CTD332

This card is for today's Color Throw Down challenge using red, tan, navy, and turquoise.
Masculine cards are not usually my "go to" card but today, I seem to have nautical theme in mind, s so this works great for a masculine card. The stamp is from Stampin' Up.

CCEE1507

Sabrina has another fine challenge for us this week:

The Finnish for February is “helmiku”, which means “month of the pearl”. Snow melting on twigs and refreezing as drops has a pearl-like look.

You can take it easy and just use pearls/Liquid Pearls on your card, or you could be adventurous and try out some pearl techniques; pull out that old Pearl-Ex or Perfect Pearls!! Here are a few suggestions to get you started, but feel free to use any others so long as they are pearl-related.

I used a layer of pearlized white over my entire rose. I also used some pearl-x on my embossed piece, and then added a few pearls as my embellishment.

Sabrina has  listed the techniques you might want to try over on the CCEEstampers blog.

While you are there, check out the lovely cards created by the team members.  If you play along, make sure you link up to the linky over on CCEE and if you post it on SCS use the CCEE1507 as your keyword.

CCEE1504 silhouettes

January is rolling right along and Vicky is our wonderful hostess again. The challenge this week is to use a silhouette and a sentiment on the front of the card.  I pulled out an old favorite of mine from Stampin' Up. I am busy trying to get my Valentines done and ready to mail because it won't be long and it will be here.

Join us this week with your silhouette and if you post it to Splitcoaststampers make sure to use the code CCEE1504. Also go over to the CCEE blog and link your card to the link there.
