Happy New Year

This is NOT a new card that I just made.  I actually made this card 3 years ago and posted it on my blog then, but never sent it out.  Today I received 8 Christmas cards in the mail, and two of them were from Family members that I had forgotten to send a card to.  I looked for  this card design, so I could maybe case my own card to make a Christmas/New Year card for them.

I don't think I will be posting till after New Year's eve.  So I thought I would add this card now.

The card is obviously Iris folding, My Sentiment and Stickers  were from Kaisercraft.  I added some peel offs to the wine glass.

My Iris folding pattern for the wine glass came from a book I purchased "460 Iris Folded Cards to make"  By Maruscha Gaasenbeek and Tine Beauveser.

Hoping that 2021 will be a much better year...Take care, and keep safe...Blessings, Jill

Merry Christmas

I know that I have posted this card at Split Coast Stampers but I hadn't posted this on my blog yet because I was waiting for the dear blogging friend that I mailed it to receive it.
This is an Iris folding card made with my favorite Christmas paper this year.  Stampin' Up's Brightly Gleaming paper.  I added some stickers and peel offs.

This will probably be my last post till after Christmas.  So I want to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas!  And thank you for all the kind comments and loving thoughts sent my way throughout the year!

Blessings,
Jill

Hubby colored Another Image for me

I made two Christmas cards over the weekend using the side fold technique.  I really liked that fold!  So today when I logged onto Splitcoast Stampers I saw that the Technique Lovers Challenge for today was a Side Fold Card...  I had to try another one.  I have a whole book of images that my hubby colored for me with copics.  He can color these images faster than I can make cards with them.  I so appreciate that it does them for me.  So I know I have to start making cards using them.

This is an image that Jim purchased from Funky Kits website.  I don't think they still sell these digi images, The last time I looked they did still sell Sugar Nelli stamps, but that was while ago.  I guess I should have checked before I posted this card.  All I know is that I love these images and I don't think I would ever get tired of seeing them..

Hope you had a good Monday, and If you are not ready for Christmas you are not alone.
My tree is still not up.  I hope to do that tomorrow, but since it will only be the two of us at our house this year.  Not sure If I really want to even put it up.  I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Take care,
Blessings,
Jill

RIP Trixie (sorry this is a sad post)

This has been  a sad week for me....First, I lost my Aunt on the 15th this week,   She moved to Texas, a long distance from me and I only got to see her twice in the last 10 years.  I have so many fun memories of her especially of us making cards together when she stayed at my house for about a week maybe 5 years ago.  She was such a fun person to be around.  I feel sad when I realize that I won't see her again.

And today brought tears when My daughter called me to tell me that had to put Trixie down.

Trixie would have been 14 years old in Januray.  She had cancer, was almost blind, and had mnay seizures this week.  It ws obvious to my daughter that she was in much discomfort this morning they had no choice but take to the vets office for her last visit.

Trixie  was like my daughter's third child.  I know this will be hard for her.  I know I will miss her when I am finally able to go to our daughter's home to visit after this pandemic is over.  I'll miss Trixies happy bark when she would see us.  RIP  Both my wonderful Aunt and my grandpuppy Trixie

Blessings,

Jill

Two more quick cards make with one of my card making magazines...
Cardmaking and Papercraft issue 162

What I like most about making these cards besides the fact that they were quick ot make!
Was the fold that I used...I used this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers site

I really like this tutorial.  I like to make square cards, or I guess I should say I like the look of square cards but I don't make them too often, because of the extra postage.  This card fold makes it easy to make a square card and not have to worry about the postage.

My Images are colored images that came out of the magazine.  I just added some ribbon.

Ugly sweater

My Ugly sweater card was a complete case of a card that Ponygirl2  (also known as Joan) posted on Split Coast Stampers.  The Link to Joan's card is here

  https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2954049?&si=ugly+sweater

I had mentioned before on my blog that I met Joan (So to speak) at Split coast stampers site.  We started exhanging emails and then we started exchanging cards, and went a step father and we now exchange a single card kit with along with our card.  The above card is one that Joan had posted at Split cast that I  really thought was cute and in the bottom picture you can see where she sent me a picture of her card with instructions and all the pieces I needed to make the card.

This has been so much fun, and gives us both something to look forward to in our mailbox beside bills and Junk mail.  And I have learned so much from seeing how Joan makes some of her cards.   (Hopefully she has also learned something from me).

As Joan put it in one of her emails..."It's like a bright light in this difficult time we are all going through....

CCEE2050 Reflect the light of Hope

I made this card for the CC Stampers challenge.   CCEE2050 which can be found here

https://cceestampers.blogspot.com/2020/12/ccee2050-glow-of-christmas.html

The challenge is to use something on your card that would relfect the light of hope.

I really struggled with this card.  I knew there was  something I didn't like about it after working too many hours on it ....I gave up.  I fianally realized what I didn't like about the card.

I have problem with depth perception when it comes to drawing or art.

My side walk in front of the house makes it look like the house is sitting on half of a foundation.

My hubby said that later he'll help me see if we can't add some extra strips of paper going down the front of the house to make it look like steps.  Hopefully it will work.  I guess this is how you learn...

My card was made using dies from Impression Obsession, (House die, Lamp post,  and tree die. Snow die was from Elizabeth Craft, I used momento ink for my sentiment which came from the Simply Cards magazine, And I used an embossing folding from Cuttlebug...added a ribbon, brad, and some stickles

I also realized after I made my last post ....that I spoke too soon...I said that I had all my Christmas cards done and in the mail.  I should have known it would happen.  The very next day I received a card from someone I forgot to put on my list...followed by a second person the day after that.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Blessings,

Jill

CCEE2049 Wrapping Paper Challenge

I made this card for the CCEE Stampers blog where the last challenge  CCEE2049 (Yes I am late for this challenge) was to use wrapping paper to make a card.  I found the wrapping paper difficult to use.  I finally did apply the paper to double sided adhesive to make it easier to work with.  Since Our family has grown so much smaller and our grandchildren are grown ...they want gift cards or  Money (which is probably preferred) so I don't do as much gift buying.  So I don't have much wrapping paper.  This was the only paper that I had.

I made a center step card, and heat embossed a sentiment with gold embossing powder.  Sentiment is from Stampendous (Tis the Season)  I also used a die from Our Daily Bread designs for the lace border, and my snowflake embellishment is a die from spellbinder.  I added a ribbon and a brad.

I Did It!

I Did it!

My Christmas cards are done and in the mail as of today!

I have just four more that I might have to mail...The cards are for four of my neighbors...Usually  just hand deliever my cards to my neighbors (along with some chocolate candy and/or cookies.

But this year with Covid 19...Not sure yet what I'll do...Maybe just call them and tell them I hung something on their door knob?

Okay!  Getting my cards addressed and off the post office ...Made my day...

But so did the gift I received today from my hubby.  He decided to give it to me early so I can use it now.   My poor big kick (Don't know how old it is...but it is OLD!)  It gets used by me and my hubby (Yes if you didn't know this... my hubby makes greeting cards!) He makes some really neat cards!

For many years (Before Covid- 19)  I had craft night at my house almost every week, and Yes my friends would also use my Big Kick.  So it was well loved!

Hope everyone had a good week...

And thank you for visiting my blog

Some Quick Christmas cards

 Click pictures to enlarge

I'm half way through addressing my Christmas cards and those have been put in the mail...I'm getting there...but I started to panic....thinking that I don't have enough cards...So I took a break from writing out my envelopes  and decided to make a few more cards using images from one of my craft magazines.  The images were from "Cardmaking and Papercrafts" magazine issue 162.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today...
Hope you are having a nice weekend

Card made using scraps

This card was made from scraps of paper I had left over from all the Christmas cards I made using this paper.  The frame that I used for my paper scraps was cut with a die by Elentina Cutting dies. I don't like the way the tag turned out so before I put it in the mail I hope to change the tag.

Most of my Christmas cards are done and I actually managed to get  cards addressed and in the mail today.  I feel like I'm finally making some progress

Today would have been my father's birthday.
I tried to find some photos of me taken with my father, but the pic below is the only one I could find.
(and it's not in the greatest of condition).
My parents divorced when I was pretty young so I don't have too many family pictures with my father in them.

I lost him to a heart attack 26 years ago.
Happy Birthday, Dad

More Brightly gleaming cards

I'm pretty sure anyone looking at my blog on a regular basis (Thank you so much for looking )  Might be tired of seeing all the cards I post using this designer paper.  As I said before, I'm trying to use it all up and I am definitely coming to an end to this Stampin' Up paper.  I honestly think that it is one of my favorite designer paper sets that I have purchased from Stampin' Up.  I purchased the paper last year and made some cards last year and now this year.  I think I may have made way over  50 cards using it.

The card above was so difficult to take a picture.  I always struggle when I used reflective paper.  When this happens I sometime to outside to take a pic.  It was raining yesterday so that was not an option.

Besides using my favorite designer paper for this card...I used a Spellbinder die for the window.  The die is called stained glass.  I used vellum for the background of the window die and fussy cute some paper for the windows and used another die for the candles in the window (Daily bread designs die)

Today, I can finally start to address cards.

still working on my Christmas cards

I'm still working on my Christmas cards, and I'm still trying to use up my Stampin' Up Brightly gleaming Christmas paper.  I'm getting closer to the end of it.

I hope to start addressing some of my cards tomorrow.  I keep remembering that last year at this time...I not only had all my cards done, they were addressed and most of them in the mail.  (I think that is what makes me fee so far behind)

Tie One on Day...

I made this for the challenge at CCEE stampers blog.

The challenge can be found here

https://cceestampers.blogspot.com/2020/11/ccee2048-tie-one-on-day.html

I made a card to enter the "Tie one On Day"  A challenge issued by Kelly,

To make a card that would have something to tie...shoe strings, ribbons, apron ties, etc.

I made my card using a die  from Dreamweaver.  I used some of my Brightly Gleaming paper from Stampin' Up.  I really do like that designer paper,  but I have been making so many cards using it these last couple of weeks...I really want to get to the point where I have used it all.  So I am trying to think of card techniques that I can use up the scraps and smaller pieces of paper that I have left.   This card  seemed to fit that!

Thank you for the great challenge, Kelly.

And thank you for visiting my blog,

For a dear friend's birthday

This is a birthday card for a dear friend of mine.  She was my very first co-worker when we were both 17.  For many years I told people that I had known Carol since we were both 17.  Then my friend comes to visit me one day to tell me that statement was NOT true.  She then pulls out a photo she found of both us in a Girl Scout photo.  I didn't even know that the photo exsisted.  (we were both about 11 or 12 at the time.  Anyway, she is one of those friends who has NEVER ever forgotten my birthday.  So I try not to forget hers...(although sometimes my cards have arrived late).

Carol's favorite color is red and through the years I have always tried to give her or make her a card with red on it.  I made this card at night, so I thought the dress was RED, but in daylight in actually looks ORANGE!  (I hope she thinks it look red!  Smile.. .. The image was cut out of a piece of Graphic 45 Designer paper.  The background is also a piece of designer paper that my hubby found for me to use from his stash of craft supplies   (It great to have a hubby who does crafting too!)  The stamps I used for my sentiments also came from his craft supply...

Thank you everyone, for all the nice comments you leave for me...It always makes my day...

Happy Thanksgiving

3D Thanksgiving card.  The 3D sheet is by Penny Wessenauer.

I added some orange lace around her 3D sheet image using a die from Our Daily Bread.

It's Thanksgiving in the USA!  A very different Thanksgiving.

It's going to be just my hubby (who is doing the cooking) and me!

One thing that I am giving thanks for is that my husband loves to cook, and he is a great cook.

I always tell him he should have been a chef.  Yes, he spoils me.  He often cooks me my favorite meals.  I will miss seeing my daughter and her family, and  sometimes she does the cooking for us.  This year we feel we need to do social distancing.

Pinterest inspired

The two cards above were inspired by cards that I saw at pinterest...

Pinterest is a place that I definitely spent too much time...but I am so addicted at seeing what other people post, and it so inspires me.  (I need all the help I can get...)

My cards above was again using Brightly gleaming paper.  I have just a couple of sheets left.  My goal is to us it all. before Christmas but I was running out of ideas...thus my Pinterest hunt.

...............................................................................

The card below is the card I posted yesterday.   After I posted it and took a better look at my pic...

My question after looking at my card was.  Why is there white smudges above my branches?

Then I remembered ...That I forgot to make sure that all the white powder was off my card.

I don't know if anyone else does this or not??  I saw a hint on someone's blog that if your card feels sticky...get out your embossing buddy and lightly press over where it's sticky.  It definitely helps to get rid of any sticky residue.  The only thing is ....Like with stray embossing powder....You need to remember to brush off the stray powder.

Now maybe this is a hint that everyone else knew before I did....smile

In case someone else would need this info   I thought I would pass it along.

I certainly don't want my card to stick to my envelopes....so I was very grateful to read about this hint...

and it works...

Jill

Sparkly Christmas Card

My spakly Christmas card...Had me sparkly too.

My hubby kind of groans when he sees me using glitter.  Somehow I not only get it on my card, and get it on me, and all over the house.   My ornament was made using an Elizabeth Craft Peel off sitcker. covered with white glitter.  My branch was cut from a die cut by Impression Obsession,  added a twine bow.

Fabric cards

I  really like making cards with fabric (for one thing it's so easy to do...)

All you need is fabric ( of course) Maybe an iron (Do you remember those?)

your fabric should be free of wrinkles and then all you have to do is lay your fabric down on a flat adhesive sheet (either one sided or two sided)  (I prefer the one sided sheets)  I found my adhesive sheets at a local craft store, and on line.  Your cut  around the image you want to adhere to a card base,

and then after you have put it on your sticky sheet (which you need to stop the fabric from fraying) then cut around your image, and then just adhere it to your card base.

The first image is my favorite, but the craft store that I purchased it from only had that one last image left.  I sent that card to the on line friend that I have been exchanging cards with.  She loves horses and I hoped she would like this technique  (she did!)

Twofer Challenge Stars

These two  cards are for this month's Twofer Challenge.

I made two Christmas cards.

My first card was made using a tutorial from Split Coast Stampers which can be found here...

https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/stitcheddiestringart/

The Twofer Challenge can be found here...

https://twofercardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/11/twofer-card-challenge-33-stars.html

My die that I used for my stars came from Stampin' Up (Stitched Stars Dies...

I found out how rusty I am when I went to stitch the star for this card.  The Split Coast Tutorial gives great instructions...  But I still stuggled with the stitching.  You would think after many years/ and hours I spent stitching cross-stitch projects/ embroidery projects, etc.  It would have been easy for me, NOT!

Thank you for visiting my blog today

Blessings,

Jill

PS.  I knew I woud make a mistake with this post...I put two of the same individual cards.  I deleted the one not sure how to put the second one back in this post.  Didn't want to mess  up the whole post.  But you can see the second card in the first picture.

3D Christmas Card

I'm still working on my Christmas cards...(and it's slow going)  In between my stamped cards, (and other card techniques that seem to take me so much longer to complete a card...

I go back once in a while to my quick cards to feel like I'm accomplishing something, anyway.

Like another 3D card, They go so much quicker for me.  This is another image I made a long time ago, it just never made it to a card base, so I don't know where it came from.  I guess it's strange colors for a Christmas card but I like Christmas cards with unconventional colors.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, ( as much as we can have these days)

Christmas card inspired by a friend's card

My card

Joan's card

My card was made using Stampin's up's Christmas paper Brightly Gleaming.

I really like that paper...Wish I had ordered more.  Not sure if the card design has a name.

I met someone (so to speak) at my favorite card forum.  Her name is Joan, and we had been exchanging emails and then decided to start exchanging cards.  I have been a member of Split Coast Stampers since 2007.  I have met so many people through that site, and many have been in real life.  (And many of the members have sent me beautiful cards)

I met Joan there, but I don't think we will get to meet in real life, we live too far apart, and I'm not much of a traveler.  It has been so much fun to exchange cards but this time it's been a bit different.  We not only exchange cards, we also include the cards instructions and sometimes a small card kit along with the card.  It has been so much fun, and a welcome addition to getting through these difficult times with having something extra to look forward to.  I'm enjoying getting my mail so much more these days.

Joan does not have a blog but this is the link to her fabulous gallery at Split coast stampers.

https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=392847&cat=500

The second card that I posted above is the first card that she sent to me, and then the first one is the one that I made using Joan't instructions.

3D Snow men

I found some old 3D sheets that I still had (from years ago) and in between my other card making...

I'm making a few 3d cards...because I find them to be so quick to make  (and JILL does love to do fussy cutting,  (as long as my hands will let me that is)

.......................

My previous upload was a Card made using the Triple Fold card Tutorial...I had forgotten to add the link as to where I had found the tutorial.  I went back and updated my last post...but in case you don't have time to go back and look for it...

I'm also adding the link here to for that card " Triple fold card."

Triple Fold Card

I made this card for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  It's their Falliday challenges.  This is my first time entering these challenges.  The first challenge is to make a card using the card fold....Triple Fold card!  I really liked this fold and I can see me using this fold a lot more in the future.

I used Stampin' Up designer paper for this card (Brightly Gleaming)   The color of this card should show up more like a green teal.  My background paper is called Pretty Peacock and it's such a pretty color.  I just wish my card color would show that color instead of blue.  (although I do like Blue)

Thank you for the prayers and good wishes for my daughter in my previous post.

I had an update from her on Monday after her doctor appointment (where they removed her stitches). She is doing so much better than the doctor expected her to be doing.  Instead of 4 weeks on crutches she only has to do 3 weeks, and he gave her permission to drive again...(only to work...she lives 5 blocks from her job)  Driving to work made her happy then she doesn't have to depend on other people picking her up for work and bringing her home.

I forgot to add to this post the link to where you can the triple Fold card.  As I said in a previous comment...  I love this fold and I plan to make another card using this fold today.
