Waffle Flower September 2021 Blog Hop

Welcome to Waffle Flower’s September 2021 Release Day! I’m happy to be hopping with the folks from Waffle Flower to show you all the fun new stuff awaiting you on the Waffle Flower website! This month, we’re looking to the change in season with some fall favorites with a sprinkling of everyday goodies!

My first card today uses the Moon Bay Stencil Trio to make a clean and simple card. Before I stenciled this one, I taped off the edges. I love the white edges like a watercolor painting. I used Distress Oxides for this card for a softer look. The sentiment is from the Classic Sentiments set.

I used the same stencil set to create this lighter version and added some birds from the Lighthouse set. This sentiment is from the Tender Thoughts set.

These stencils are so fun to work with and so versatile! For this one, I left one section uninked so that I could stamp the sentiment. Don't be afraid to play around with colors and white space!

This next card uses the Nesting Oval Frames Die to create a channel for the enamel dots. The negative cut is just the right width for the largest size of the Waffle Flower enamel dots.

The sentiment is from the new Sentiment Additions 2 set. These sets look so good die cut!

My last card today uses one of the Nesting Hexagon Frames dies. I cut them in different colors and then put them together in an interlocking pattern. The key to this technique is to lay out the pattern with the die cut pieces and then cut the frames so that the cuts hide behind another frame.

Be sure to check out each stop in today’s blog hop for fun, inspiration, and chances to win some of these new release goodies! Next on the hop is the always amazing Laura Bassen!

For today’s hop, Waffle Flower is giving away $25 gift certificate to THREE lucky winners. You can leave a comment on this blog and along the hop by 11:59pm EDT on Wednesday September 8th, 2021 for your chances to win. Waffle Flower May 2019 Birthday Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone! It's time for the Waffle Flower May 2019 Release! There's so many fun and new things going at Waffle Flower starting with a new look for our stamp packaging. Starting this month, all of our 4x6 stamp sets will be packaged in our new rainbow packaging.

On the design front, we are kicking off a new series with illustrator Kamo that features different cities around the world! Our first stop is London - Oyez (stamp, die, combo) will sure to help you send some love to those who hold this amazing city close to their heart.

This month, you will also find beautiful florals in Wild Roses (stamp, die, combo); make fun and clever cards with Go Girl (stamp, die, combo); and send happy wishes to some sweet couples on their Wedding Day (stamp, die, combo), which works with the brand new Cake Panel Die (die) that can also be used for birthdays and celebrations! If you are getting ready for Father's Day, the Be Him Sentiments (stamp) goes great with our popular Be Her (stamp, die, combo) and Be Him (stamp, die, combo) sets with sentiments for Dads and Grandpas.

These next few cards are made with my new stamp and coordinating die set called Go Girl.  The stamps and dies of these builder sets are meant to be mixed and matched together to create totally personalized cards for all the special women in your life.   The sets this month are just the first in a series (cannot wait for you to see the rest!).  I have not been able to stop playing with these sets since I got them!  I love that I can personalize each card to match the recipient.  For this first card, I used mostly dies to create.  (The little flower is from another set).  For the hair, I've been using woodgrain paper and it looks so neat!

For this version, I used the dies again but I stamped the sunglasses.  So fun!

This last version is the simplest but probably one of my favorites.  This time I used the negative cut of the hair and then added a pair of die cut glasses backed with some vellum.  How fun is that?  I have a lot more samples to show you later this month and hope to have a video soon!

This next card features the Oyez set by Kamo.  She makes the cutest stamps!  When I saw the little figure with the umbrella, I knew I wanted to make a rain scene.  The background is done with the Wave Texture die and some cloud dies.

Speaking of Kamo stamps, she also has a set this month called Wedding Day.  This set works perfectly with a new die I designed called the Cake Panel Die.  This die cuts an A2-sized panel with a cake.  To decorate the cake, the set comes with a variety of cake picks and other toppings.  It's one of those dies I will be turning to again and again because it can be used with so many other stamps and dies.

Before I go, here's one more cake card.  This card uses the Cake Panel die again, but this time I trimmed it down to just the cake.  This die set comes with two types of birthday candles (straight and spiral).  I colored both the candles and the cake with pastel-colored Copics and added a sentiment from the Bold Sentiments set.

I have so many projects for this month that I can't share them all today!  Here's some sneaks of what's coming!

Here's a list of everyone hopping today and you don't want to miss any of the amazing release projects!

To celebrate the blog hop, Waffle Flower is giving away $25 gift certificates to THREE lucky winners. You can leave a comment on my blog and along the hop by 11:59pm ET on 5/8/19 for your chances to win. Winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on any of the posts on this blog hop and will be announced on the Waffle Flower blog on 5/9/2019.  Receive a FREE Tiny Wings Die with all orders, while supplies last.  No code required; Limited 1 per customer; While supplies last; Valid through midnight 5/8/19.

Now let's take a look at one of the new dies, Dainty Flowers!  I love the design of these dies (what I call open looped) because they allow you you to do so many techniques.  You can use the die cut alone, make a shaker card, or do inlaid die cutting as I have with this card...

For my card, I used the dies to make a background and just used color on one flower.  This is a fun way to use a very intricate die.  Even though the die is very detailed, the white on white design still keeps it clean.  I blended inks on the one flower and then added the bold sentiment strip.  The black of the sentiment strip is pretty dark, so I balanced the black with some enamel dots.  Couldn't have been easier.

Thanks for hopping with us today!  The next stop on the hop is the wonderful Kalyn Kepner!  Have a great day guys!

Now to my card:)  I'm using the new word die set called Love and Cherish!  I love the beautiful curl of this font and I thought it would pair nicely with the Blossoming Buds stamp set.  The stamped flowers are pretty intricate, so I used a vellum overlay to prevent the card from getting too busy.

On top of the vellum, I added the die cut sentiment and some enamel dots.  The enamel dots serve 2 purposes, decorative (of course) and functional (they hide adhesive that keeps the vellum laying down).  I colored the die cut word with some blended ink in 2 colors (pink and red).  I also put a plain white version of the word behind (slightly offset).  Both the blended ink and the white "shadow" really give the sentiment some depth and help the sentiment stand out.

Now it's time for you to hop on over to the next stop on the hop, my talented buddy Jocelyn Olson!  Keep on hopping!

And for my US friends, Happy Thanksgiving!  I'm so thankful for you:)

Christmas Frame with Avery Elle

Hi everyone!  Thursday means that I've got an Avery Elle project:)  Today I'm highlighting the new Seasons Greetings die!  Isn't that font fantastic?

For this card, I really wanted to focus on that gorgeous die cut word.  (BTW, I just realized I forgot to add the apostrophe in "Season's", oops!  I'll have to go back in and add it;)  The word just happens to fit perfectly in the frame that you can create with 2 dies from my new set, We R Family.  There is an outer die that cuts a Project Life-sized 3X4 rounded card and there is a separate die that cuts a smaller rounded rectangle.  It's hard to see, but the smaller die also has an embossed stitch around the outside of the cut (yeah, it's a totally different concept that I'll have to show you on another day:).

To finish off, I added some die cut leaves with some enamel berries.  This design would be great to mass produce if you've got a lot of cards to send out!

Until next time!  Thanks so much for stopping in!

Mahalo and Aloha,
jj

Avery Elle & Authentique Project Inspiration Blog Hop

It's Authentique and Avery Elle week!  This week the Avery Elle design team is playing with Authentique papers, Life Cards and embellishments.  After visiting here, be sure to check out the Authentique Blog for even more inspiration!  We have a fabulous prize up for grabs so be sure to comment on our blogs throughout to week to be entered to win!

For my card, I used a bunch of coordinating Authentique patterned papers to create a totally custom die cut panel!  Since some of the papers are pretty detailed, I went with the simple leaf shapes of the Modern Leaves dies .  I randomly cut a pattern and inlaid the pattern papers.

For a few of the apertures, I backed them with simple vellum.  I struggled a bit of where I was going to put the sentiment.  It seemed like everywhere I chose, it competed with the patterned paper.  I finally ended up putting it on the card base behind the vellum.  I really like the soft look of the sentiment and the enamel dots behind the vellum.  The dreamy look goes well with the soft look of the papers.

Don't forget to check out the Authentique Blog and leave some comments on all the blog hop stops to get entered for a fun prize!  Hope you have a fantastic day!

Mahalo and Aloha,

Studio Calico Penny Arcade Reveal!

It's the 27th of the month and that means reveal day at Studio Calico!!!   The new release is available to subscribers right now, and will be available to everyone at midnight tonight.  I'm so excited to show you my cards from the main card kit Penny Arcade and the Pinball add-on:)  Let's get to the cards, shall we?

I'm happy to report that the main card kit comes with a die!  I always get so excited when a die is included:) I used the banner die to create a graphic pattern and backed it with the pattern papers.  Actually, paper.  I used that first page of the pack that has a swatch of all the papers in the pack (what is that page even called?)  I feel like that is a bonus page and I love using it!

For my next card, I used the gnome stamp in the main card kit to create a snowglobe:)

I colored the little guy with my Copic markers to match the fantastic papers!  Love the natural woodsy feel!

I couldn't resist making just one more card from the main kit.  I used that absolutely fantastic paper (can't get enough of Kal Barteski) to create a fun background.  I painted select words with my Mr. Huey's and I added a little gold wrap threaded with wood stars (so much goodness in that sentence;).

How about some cards from the add-on, Pinball?  This set has some stunning stamps!  The design is another SC exclusive collaboration with One Canoe Two Letterpress!  But before I get to those stamps, let's talk silver labels and patterned paper!  For my first card, I cut some funky shapes from the patterned paper.  I layered them over and under a sheet of vellum and added a sentiment on a silver-edged label.

Isn't that paper too much fun?  I love how the vellum gives the paper a different look:)

Last but certainly not least, my card using the sublime One Canoe Two stamps!  For this card, I played with layers again.  I stamped directly onto the card base.  Then I stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut the petals.  I also created a diagonal panel for the sentiment that picks up a bit of the flower.  I love how the layers add interest but in a subtle way.

I was so busy fawning over the flowers, I didn't even mention the sentiments!  Oh my word.  They are so lovely.  Seriously, right?

That's it for me for today!  I hope you check out the entire release over at Studio Calico!  And stop in to the gallery to see all the goodies the Creative Team have put together!

Mahalo and aloha,
jj

P.S.  There's still time to get in on my SC giveaway here!  JJ
