A short video folks that I made earlier at the hotel where I suffered tonight working with a squeaky voice. This is only the second time in my life that I got laryngitis, the last time was about twenty years ago when I worked at First Fidelity Bank in Philadelphia.
First of all, trying to speak with laryngitis, is painful. I'm trying to reach my voice under all that phlegm and it just isn't working. There's nothing like answering the phone with a SQUEAK! when the owner call which is exactly what happened tonight. I didn't realize how much I talk. Oh I DO love to talk. The guests were giving me that "poor thing" look tonight when I tried to get off my usual coterie of bon mots and witticisms. Just wasn't working tonight.
So here I am at home now, waiting for the ball to drop and half expecting to see Ryan Seacrest roll out Dick Clark's embalmed body to count down the crystal ball on New York's Times Square.
Happy New Year everyone!

Thanks, Ron. Squeaky voice; great smile. Happy New Year!
get better soon, ron!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't think I'd make it, but Captain Morgan saw me through.
You've got until March to get better. That should be enough.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Peace <3
Jay
You were certainly couragous to venture into work when you're so sick. There's nothing worse than having laryngitis on New Year's Eve.
On second thought, there IS something worse - -
having to watch all the crappy New Year celebrations on TV. If they brought out Dick Clark's embalmed body it would liven things up and probaby be the hit of the show.
Thanks so much for that, Ron. We can hear that it caused you a lot of effort but I can tell you that your pains were well worthwhile to let your admirers hear your voice, albeit in its present shaky condition.
Yes, here's hoping that 2013 offers a significant improvement in many respects. I've heard that last year was truly dreadful for so many people - as well as being possibly my own all-round worst one ever. So any year which is not quite so bad is bound to be better.
Take care of yourself, my friend.
Squeeky...I mean, Ron,
Ah, a Happy New Year to Bill, a couple days of peace and quiet! :)
Get well soon, and me too.
Lar
George,
Thanks! Now my voice is just horse. I DO sound like Harvey Fierstein now. Happy New Year to you too!
Ron
Anne Marie,
Just got up from a long morning nap. I think I turned the curve. Hopefully I'm on my way to getting better now,
Ron
Hey Jar!
I like Captain Morgan too. Great rum! Happy new year to you!
Ron
Jon,
Tell me about it. There are times when I've been pretty sick and worked in the past but this is only the second time I've had laryngitis. This is really hard because it is painful to talk and frustrating not to be able to communicate. I don't realize how much I need to talk on my job until something like this happens. I hope this is the last time.
Happy New Year!
Ron
Ray,
You're quite welcome! Yes, it did take an effort to talk and make that video. But I wanted it "on the record" that I was suffering. I'll remember this New Year's Eve for sure.
Happy new year!
Ron
Lar
Ah ha, you were going to let me do all the talking last night on FaceTime weren't you? I'll get you for that my pretty and your little dog too!
Ron
That was a nice smile at the end. Happy New Year!
A Nettie Pot will do wonders. Roger
It is lovely to hear your sexy voice! Happy new year, and particularly, a very healthy one!
No doubt a punishment for your wickedness.
See you soon!
Happy new year to you also Sean!
Never heard of it. I will check into it.
Thank you Nadege! Happy new year to you!
No doubt Dr. Spo!
Sorry to hear you're under the weather Ron. I too lost my voice a few years back, co-workers were making fun of me. One said when Randy can't talk, thats like a nymphomanic that can't have sex,I like to talk. I think your friend Dr. Spo is on to something there about our past wickedness! As far as a remedy, dark rum and coke always worked for me. Now it's hot tea with honey, hope you feel better soon. Oh yeah I think you're more handsome than Harvey Fierstein. Happy and better 2013! Randy.
Randy,
This is very difficult without the ability to speak normally, especially working the front desk at a hotel. Thank goodness it's not too busy tonight but I did have a lady on the phone a while ago that was giving me a working with all her questions. After tonight I'm off for a week and I'm going to do a LOT of rest.
Thanks for the Fierstein compliments.:)
Ron
