Flourished by Fall

Happy Tuesday ribbon lovers!  It's Tammy Louise today sharing a project that is keeping the season of fall close to my heart.  Both of my children are October babies and one of the funnest child oriented holidays is fast approaching!

Not a lot of supplies needed: Just the Studio G card pack, clear emboss pad, embossing powder, sentiment set and some wonderful fall colored Jute String Orange and ribbon from the September club pack and lace from our lovely leader Bonnie and the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store!
My card class had their monthly share last Wednesday, the theme was fall, and I decided to make my 5 cards from a tree stamp set and I've shown step by step process below.
Some of my new favorite card packs from Studio G are perfect for quick cards and offer really beautiful designs.
I cut the Lace and grosgrain just long enough to spread horizontally across the card and glued them down in the lower section of the card.

I cut the Jute string long enough to string though the top holes and tied a knot in the front.
Then starts the fun stuff, I used an old tooth brush to scratch the fibers of the Jute string apart and make them soft and fluffy!  I tried separating this jute before with my fingers but it just doesn't turn out separated and soft looking!
I embossed the tree stamp from the set onto the front of the card and a very small sentiment at the bottom.
Then I embossed the lovely sentiment that came with the stamp set into the inside of the card
I glued on some WOC flowers and a great button with coordinating fluffy Jute String Orange tied to it into the center of the lace and grosgrain ribbon.
Voila! It's the perfect little fall card x 5!  Big hit in class!

Such a pleasure to be here and share my creation with you all today!

Just Because

It's Tammy Louise today to share my use of some of the fabulous ribbons I found at Really Reasonable Ribbon last month.  The Big Sky Hand-Dyed Silk and the Netting went perfectly with the Paper cord (on sale now) for the Rick St Dennis I lovs you dis Much image I've colored up.

At first I wasn't sure about the sentiment for this card but when I placed the gorgeous rich colored buttons from Buttons Galore and More on the project instead of flowers, I just knew it would be perfect for an all occasion multi gender card.

I've shared more of the specifics on the project on my blog and would love for you to stop in for a visit to both get inspired and to join in on the candy available!  Happy Crafting!

 Hugs,
Tammy Louise

Just For You

It's time for me, Tammy Louise, to share another way to incorporate your Really Reasonable Ribbons into your card in such a way that really makes it POP!

I've used a Whimsy Print from the Elizabeth Bell collection so there was NO coloring involved!  Makes things go so much faster!

Then I've designed one of my favorite style of card, the 1/2 split card.  Just one 5 x 5 piece of stock scored in half!  I've used the beautiful Sheer Ombre Peach/Yellow colored organza 5/8 inch wide ribbon and made several little bows around the frame!  They resemble butterflies I think?

The hole piercing tool gave texture all the way around the edge and some lovely gems bring in the bling!  The inside of the card was embellished with a Cherry Cake tag and it was also wrapped in matching ribbon.

Some times the most simple card can become the most inciting to try huh?

You are Treasured

4 Day Pre-Labor Sale here

It's hard to believe that it is the end of August already!  Where did the summer go?  lol  Just a fun little card today that I made to share with the lovely ladies of the USA stamping Club at my local craft store.  Our tutorial last night was on Zantangle!  LOVE IT!  As a matter of fact, we all gave it a try and if you would like to see what I created with it, visit my blog today!  I'll have that as well as a link to my You- Tube video (hopefully) with a full tutorial on this project!  lol

But, I digress, the theme to follow this month was water???  I know most of you have one or two scenic stamps maybe from Northwood or other company, but I have absolutely 0
That's right 0!

So I've decided to go with a nautical theme by adding some Jute String Natural from Really Reasonable Ribbon, one of my favorite button collections Latte and some terrific dies that are all nautical.  The friendly little lion stamp is just an extra I couldn't resist adding from 2 Cute Ink.

The Studio G pre-made card and envelope set was on sale so I snatched them up and fast!  When I got the set home and opened it, I realized that the score line was on the longer of the two edges of the card.   Because I had planned to make a scene out of it, I wanted to place the ribbon going vertically down the card and found a creative way to do it, so I though I would share it in this video.

If you give it a try with maybe wider ribbons or even some lace, be sure to send me a link so I can check it out won't you?  Have fun and I hope it is helpful.

Other contents:  Shapeology Dies by Whimsy
Ranger Distress Ink
Copics
Cuttlebut embossing folder

If you look carefully, the envelope is distressed and stamped as well to coordinate!

We do a monthly card swap so each of us bring 5 themed cards and go home with 5 different cards!  So fun!  All of these took about 1.5 hours so quick and simple today!  As a matter of fact, I've been doing clean and simple for most of this month!  NEW TREND for me! lol
Thanks for visiting,

Recycling my scraps!

Happy Tuesday crafty friends!  It's Tammy Louise today and I've been on a new kick this month.  I can't get enough of the little extras you can add to a card that are subtle and non distracting from the stamped images.  Today I've made a clean and simple card with the beautiful Delicate stitched Satin Pearl pink ribbons and the August Ribbon of the Month Club "Jennifer"  lace .

The image by Darcy's Diary was pencil colored in monotones with a touch of reds and some gold.  I'm a big on recycling and using every little piece of extra paper, ribbon, buttons and embellishments.  Once a year, I organize and make projects from my scrap box including today's project.  I used Bakers twine inside the buttons and a Prima key shaped paper clip for extra's.  Keeping it as simple as possible.  I'm increasing my stash of cards to send to candy winners and some of my favorite lady friends.  (wink)

A little tip of the day with this ribbon, sometimes I can place ribbons and bows precisely where they belong and they stay perfectly!  However, sometimes, they want to lay crooked and off a bit, this is when I grab a silicone double sided dot and place it under the bow loops so they will lay straight and not distract from the point of interest.

More information regarding this project can be found on my blog (as well as some Candy!)I've been visiting the blogs entered in the current Really Reasonable Challenge blog and I have to say hoora! Ladies!  The inspiration projects have been stunning for the Pink and Brown challenge this time!  Keep 'em coming, I'm loving it!  And best of luck!

Forever in Love!

Hello ribbon lovers!  I've got a simple and lovely gift idea to share today!  I guess I've been in the mind set of crafting things that other people would buy to give as gifts lately.  I've been working very hard to create items other than cards for CHA!  It's coming so quickly . . . Just 2 days and I'm off to Vegas!

For today's project . . .  years ago I purchased about 20 paper/cardboard frames from Hobby Lobby, on sale of course (wink), and decided that they could easily be made into lovely gifts with the right theme and objects. What better than loads of 3/8" Butterfly Multi Grosgrain and  those Moss Green Jumbo May Arts leaves ribbons, adorable pre-colored print and one of the Leaf Trio die cuts!

The frame is covered with some of my scrap paper, and glued onto the back of the frame.  The love birds are part of the Sweet Valentine Whimsy Prints (pre colored) collection.  The Recollections pearl is altered with my Copics to offset the color of the birds, and the Really Reasonable Ribbons used here bring the frame to life!  I was so glad I decided to extend the large green leaf ribbon across the bottom, adding texture, elegance and that finished look to the whole theme.

For some more photos and information, visit me at HandmadebyTLC!  Till then, ta ta for now!  Thanks for joining me and I hope you're inspired to alter some of those great finds!

What is Romance?

Tammy Louise here today to play with more of the Really Reasonable Ribbon's Red, White and Blue's! I played with dies instead of coloring and the Lighthouse , wave border and Seashell Elements Shapeology Dies were perfect for a lovely Sea Side view.  Three pieces of my favorite 5/8" Red w/White stitches were attached and gathered in the center with a tab of glue, then three pieces of the Stars on Electric Blue Grosgrain were cut smaller and attached then gathered in half.  I popped on the button in the center then tied a bow with some Jute String White.

I created a sandy look to the scene with some Champagne Netting, then "framed" the card with some Natural twine, pushed some Jute String Cocoa through the lighthouse and ran a strip of blue ribbon through the lighthouse base.  The background waves were die cut from the blue striped paper and the negative of the cut was used for texture and design behind the white stock.  It's a red, white and blue heavenly scene of complete romance.  I just need a little wine, hubby and a camera!  lol

Other Contents:

Ranger Distress and Momento Ink

As always, more info and photo's are available on my blog, I'm so glad you could visit and I hope you've been inspired to create your romantic scene!

Inks and Ribbon 101!

It's Tammy Louise posting today and I wanted to test out some of my ink on some of the Really Reasonable Ribbon called Silky Crush White Ribbon.  I've seen people stamp on ribbon and have always wondered which of my inks would work and just how much bleeding would occur with each of them?
So instead of a tutorial, per say, I'm going to share some of the results with you.  I guess what I've decided is that until you try something new, you'll never know what's possible REGARDLESS what the label on the ink says!
First, I cut a small section of the ribbon and got a butterfly stamp out to try four different types of ink. I challenged Momento, Stazon, Indian Ink, and Versafine.  Here is how it worked!

Let's learn ink 101 together today!  Momento is a water based dye ink, this means that it can be used on most papers but as it is water based, any added water will encourage it to bleed or blend out.  BOY DOES IT EVER!
Stazon ink is a fast drying solvent ink that is recommended for non porous surfaces such as metal, plastic, glass, ceramic etc.  However, it did leave a crisp outline on the ribbon around the stamp image.

Indian Ink is archival and fade resistant ink IS SUPPOSEDLY for non smearing, the label says it's a quick drying dye ink perfect for use with markers and watercolors, however, there was a considerable amount of bleading on the ribbon with this ink.

Versafine ink is an opaque pigment ink for finer details.  This is oil based and water resistant and did actually turn out the best of all four images with crisp detail and NO bleeding with really rich dark color.
This is the versafine ink
This is the India Ink
This is the Stazon Ink
The big brown blob at the bottom is the Momento Ink!  Yuck!

My intention was to apply a subtle amount of Distress Ink to some of the areas of the stamped image so I colored some ink on my pad and added water until the desired color was accomplished.

After applying color, I dried with my heat gun in between each application, some of the areas where too much water was applied, the ink did still do some running but not more than acceptable amounts.
Sneak peek of the girl card!
 more on my blog.

I used some adorable buttons from Really Reasonable Ribbon Store called Cherries Jubilee and Blueberry Pie from Color Blends Buttons Galore and the twine on the girl card is the Baker's Twine Peppermint, on the boy card, I used the Twinery Caribbean.  The Design Paper is Recollections "Itsy Bitsy Ditsy Cherry Pie and Aqua Screen.
I just so happened to have the Inkadinkado boy stamp set as well, and couldn't resist showing you a sneak of this as well!
Thanks for joining me today and I hope you give this technique a try, it was simple and really quick to do!
Hugs,
