Colorful Birthday........................

Hi everyone.  Bonnie here today with a fun and colorful birthday card.  It seems every time I schedule myself for a blog post here on the RRR blog, when the time comes I wonder what I was thinking - lol.

I have a really hard time feeling creative when there are other things that I feel I should be doing - this would include but not be limited to:  housework, yardwork and RRR office work.......  I'm sure you know what I mean.  :)

When I sat down at my work desk without a creative thought in my head I found this pretty paper flower I made a while back when I was playing with my Silhouette Cameo and I went from there.......

Another thing I like to do is feature some gorgeous, but sometimes overlooked ribbon styles.  With all the choices available at Really Reasonable Ribbon, sometimes there are gorgeous styles that just don't get the notice that they deserve.

You can see the beautiful 5/8" Fuchsia Satin w/Scalloped Edge Satin which I used as a base layer running horizontally across the card.  This pretty ribbon is available in 7 great colors.  I topped it with our new Fun Dots on White Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used White Iridescent String to secure my sentiment and I topped the birthday sentiment off with a small bow made with Summer Rose Seam Binding.  We now carry seam binding in 50 colors in either 5-yard pieces or 100-yard spools.

Thanks for stopping by today!

~ Bonnie ~

"Life is Art" with Hand-dyed Silk Ribbon

Hi, it's Tracey here to share a mixed media graduation card I created for our daughter, Maria, who graduated just over a week ago. Bonnie's fabulous hand-dyed silk ribbon is the focal piece for my card.

"Life Is Art"
Graduation Card

Our daughter, Maria, is an artist. She has played piano for 10 years and started taking art lessons about 5 years ago. She is quite accomplished. I've been known to say, if I had her talent I wouldn't scrap; I'd draw and paint. She's won several art contests this year and really has the heart of an artist. This may not be a typical sentiment for a graduate, but it just fit Maria perfectly. I hope she embraces the life ahead of her and enjoys the journey.

Tips and Techniques:

Double Loop Bow ~ Bonnie carries the most gorgeous and luxurious hand-died silk ribbon in her store. You really should try some of this fabulous ribbon. This particular color is not currently in stock, but she has some amazing color combinations that are sure to fit your needs. The tutorial by our RRR DT, Ginny, for these sweet bows can be found here. She shows how to tie them right on your fingers. So easy!!

Mixed Media Background ~ Creating this mixed media background was a perfect way to showcase the gorgeous hand-dyed silk ribbon.

I started by stamping my sentiment with Donna Salazar's Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx, then sprinkled with opaline embossing powder and heat set.

Then I laid punchinella next to the sentiment and "inked" through the holes with Perfect Medium. Any kind of clear embossing pad should work. I sprinkled with Fran-Tage Shabby White Embossing powder and shaved ice mica then heat set.

I've had Faber-Castell Gelatos in my stash for some time, but just never have gotten around to trying them out. Let's just say, I'll be using them a lot more now that I've broken the ice. What gorgeous colors and so easy to work with. I scribbled the colors across my nonstick craft mat using similar colors to the ribbon, spritzed with water, then laid my paper into the liquified color. Just like the ribbon colors blend, gradating into each other, the Gelato colors did the same. I just love the effect!!  I colored two pieces - the white cardstock background and then the stamped and heat embossed sentiment on water color paper.

Once the water color paper was dry, I hand sketched the heart shape around the sentiment, cut it out and hand distressed. The background paper was distressed with my Donna Salazar Distrezz-It-All.

On the background I took some bubble wrap and painted it with gesso and used as a stamp in places. This is very subtle, but adds great visual texture. I also "stamped" some circles of gesso using a small bottle cap.

Oh, and wouldn't you know, the sentiment got a little muddied by the mixed media, so I took a white Glaze pen and carefully went over the letters to make them pop again.

What I love about this technique is that you can really create a custom background to go with any of the hand-dyed silks.

Pearl Accents ~ I added Kaisercraft pearls from the RRR Store. There are a wide variety of colors to choose from.

Ribbon ~ I adhered a strip of the hand-dyed silk ribbon across the card using Scor-Tape. I wrapped the Iridescent White String around the ribbon three times, crossing in the center. This string is one of my favorite items in the RRR Store. I already had to order more!! LOL It shimmers so beautifully in the light. Finally, I attached the bow to overlap the heart.

Ribbon Pinwheel Flower Tutorial!

I have a really adorable little tutorial I "remade" for you for my "Pin Wheel" flower.  It was "remade" because the first one was NOT on the SD chip when I went looking for it!  So, the first flower was made with three 4" strips of ribbon where this one is with four!  No matter, they are both easy to make and really lovely!  Any ribbon works of course, but for the smaller flowers, the more narrow ribbons work best!  In this case, the Really Reasonable Ribbon February Ribbon Club included this wonderful 3/8" diamond patterned ribbon that matched the DP perfectly!  There are so many different patterns to choose from in this size that it's hard to decide, 317 of them in all!  WOW!  Check out what's in stock now here!

I've assembled a Shape EZ rolled bag and colored the cute little Kitten from the Wee Stamp Set "Playful Kittens" first with Stampin up pigment ink then refurbished with Copics!  I suppose it's time to toss the old inks after all!  The Sentiment is from the 2 Cute Ink Set "I Do".  I've also used the same RRR ribbon and some American Crafts Eyelets to tie the bag together at the top with a lovely bow in the back.

Four 4" strips of ribbon
Pattern side out, roll one end of ribbon until the edge is even with the remaining ribbons edge
Follow the same instruction for the other edge of the ribbon, it should appear like below
With Thread and needle, make two or three stitches in the center of the pinwheel and repeat 4 times
From the underside, run your thread and needle through as many pinwheel petals as you made and be sure to alternate them before going back up through all of them for the button
When through to the top side, run thread through the button and back down to tie off the thread and your done!  Easy Peasy!

So glad to be able to share with you all today!!

The finished project turned out as hoped, as the space used with the Pinwheel flower was small but missing that home made touch of color and texture that this ribbon brought out perfectly!

For more info on the project visit me here.

Congratulations Graduate!

Hello RRR friends and followers !  Today I have another project for you featuring Really Reasonable Ribbon and Helmar Adhesive.  With graduation's still taking place, I felt it fitting to share with you a card my best friend ordered for her son for his kindergarten graduation.

This card is for a boy, so it was tough to add ribbon to a boy card for me.  I thought that the Sheer 3 Stripe Blue Ribbon allowed me to add a bow but still be masculine.  It really worked out well!  What do you think?

My entire card is assembled with Helmar Professional Craft Glue!!  I mean every single layer is put together and secured with the Craft Glue.  I love this stuff!  It dries fast and clear and I never have to worry about one of the cards I have sold falling apart.

Even the inside of the card is put together with Helmar Professional Craft Glue.

I love the way the bow turned out.  I used Sheer 3 Strip Blue from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I attached the bow to the card and the button to the bow using Helmar 450.  Perfect for embellies!  I LOVE the way this sheer ribbon ties.  It is super easy to make a perfect bow.  Doesn't slide out of your hand at all!

My image is from Scrappin Doodle.

I achieved lots of dimension with the Helmar Zap Dots.  They are perfect for raising images off the card.

Thank you so much for visiting.  I hope I have inspired you to craft today...and/or use Really Reasonable Ribbon!!

Thank You Card

Hello Peeps!!
Heather here and hopefully I and my bestie Ginny are riding the spinny rides at Cedar Point while you are reading my post today.
Today I would like to share with you a Thank you card that I created .
I used my favorites Raspberry baker's twine, champagne netting, Pink Salmon seam binding,  Pink beads, Latte buttons and candi fix it foam pads from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
I used some designer dries clear glue and a fine tip applicator to outline the edges of my card and added the just peachy glitter.
Here is a close up of the pink beads...Yummy!!
I used digital papers and ephemera from Gecko Galz for my backgrounds and main image.  I attached my first layer to a 5" by 7" ivory card base, then glued on my seam binding and champagne netting.  I used a Martha Stewart punch and attached it to my next digital paper and image after I wrapped my Raspberry baker's twine around it and tied a bow.  I used the candi fix it foam pads to elevate this layer.
I inked all my edges with Ranger's Vintage photo.  The two darling little buttons came from the latte collection and were tied with the Raspberry Baker's Twine.
One last look at the whole card.
Hope you find some time to create today!
Thank you for visiting!!
Please don't forget that Bonnie has a fabby
Memorial Day Sale going on Now!!

Sweet Blossoms

Hello everyone! Today's card was designed for Really Reasonable Ribbon using the Beautiful Double Ruffled Edge Ribbon in brown.

For my card I made a double bow using the Beautiful Ribbon that Bonnie Carries. It's perfect for making bows. Next I used CottageCutz Blossom Branch die for my flowers and branch. The Beautiful frame is a new CottageCutz Elites, and I absolutely LOVE this frame.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely day!!
Hugs to all,
Cheryl

Good morning everyone!
What are your weekend plans?
I have a busy weekend planned out with a birthday party tonight, BBQ tomorrow and another one on Monday, but I do plan to take my camera along for the ride!
Hopefully I will get some good pictures this Holiday Weekend.

If you AREN'T so busy...maybe you have time to sit and scrap?  Yes?
I did a couple of layouts that I wanted to share with you.
In these layouts, I used scrap pieces of ribbon.
I keep all of my  ribbon/trims/lace pieces that really aren't very long in a gallon sized Ziplock bag.
I will periodically go through that bag and pick something out that I want to use, or, if I am working on a project that just needs that extra little touch of ribbon, I will go through my "scrap bag" first.

Here is "It's ALL About the Shoes"
This is about my niece and her friend and their LOVE of shoes!

In this layout I used

And here is "My Super Hero"
He really is!  This is my youngest some when he was about 6.
He LIVED in capes and insisted that he could fly!
For this layout, I used that last little bit of the darker

Even though my weekend will be busy, I will certainly make time to scrap a little bit.  I always do!
It is one of those addictions that I can't get away from, nor would I try!  LOL
I hope I have inspired you to pull out some ribbon/trim /lace and get crafty this weekend!
Have a WONDERFUL Holiday weekend!

OOOOOO Shiny!!!!

I find myself under the Stickles spell here lately....gotta have the sparkle. I created this sweet card with an image that I added the sentiment to....then got out my Stickles...and embellished away.  I had some great glittery cardstock in the shop that matched perfectly : )
I chose the super beautiful 3/8" Satin w/Silver Metallic Edges Porcelain Blue from Really Reasonable Ribbon for a lovely finishing touch....doesn't that bow match the glittery butterfly perfectly??
Okay...that's it for me today...I'm off to the shop to see what else I can glitter up : )
I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) Huggs Ginny
