My Opinion

Blurred avoids the sophomore curse- a must read for anyone who liked Inbetween. 

Finn and Emma are both in this segment of the series, although they do take a back seat. I enjoyed that Cash and Finn do not instantly get along for Emma’s sake. I liked that Cash had problems with Finn, but ultimately was able to overcome those problems. You can honestly see how much Cash loves Emma throughout the book.

Anaya made a deal with the devil – okay, really with Balthazar, but he sometimes reminds me of the devil in this series. I mean he is the boss of the reapers and well he has a hidden agenda. He promises her Heaven in exchange for her bring Cash in to him. This deal is kept a secret, and Anaya goes against her very nature to not deliver Cash’s soul to heaven’s pearly gates.

Cash pays the consequences. Which I have to say is a darn shame. Poor Cash, has been through hell on earth. Anaya puts him through even more. The things that happen in this book, due to Anaya’s decision is at times painful to read. Especially the scene in the middle, where someone dies. The scenes with the shadow demons are kinda on the creepy side as well.

Anaya for her part did not know what it was she was asked to do by Balthazar. Once she realizes all that it entails she did try to find a way out. But atlas, one should never make a deal with the boss man. You find out a lot of Anaya’s back story and how her life on earth was ended horribly. Regardless of how she died, you cannot help but feel bad for her. You even begin to understand why she made the deal. The twist in the middle was not really a surprise- more like a “holy cow, I was right kinda moment.” 

I wish Easton was in the book more than he was. I realize that he is not a main character- but he still is my favorite in the series. He plays a pretty big part in the book though. I love that he is Hell’s reaper, he has the personality to fit a reaper for hell. The things that he is willing to do for Heaven’s reaper did make me wonder if maybe just maybe he was sweet on her. Ultimately, Anaya only had eyes for Cash.

I loved that each book in this series ends without a cliffhanger. Don’t get me wrong cliffhangers are great. This is just one series that does not need them. There is closure for the couple involved. The fact that we get to see the previous couple and know how they are handling their closure is refreshing. Overall, Blurred is a book that shows us where the lines are drawn and how often times those can get fuzzy for a period of time. Regardless of the good intentions of those involved, or how pure of heart they may be.
