the boys July 2015

I've been trying to make a point of taking photos of Hobbes while he's still really little because I know that these days will be over before we know it. I take a lot of random snaps with my cell phone, but I like to capture kitty moments with my DSLR, too.

Hobbes is crazy about these little Mylar balls.

Of course when I have the camera out, I like to take pictures of Ares and Apollo as well.

Ares, watching the backyard birdie channel.

Apollo, our natural poser, enjoying a suitcase and our massage table.

hanging out with Hobbes

Whenever I have my DSLR out at home, I seem to end up taking a few (and by few, I really mean a lot) of pictures of my cats. As I've mentioned before, Hobbes has so much energy that it's been hard to get more than a few snaps of him when he's not sleeping, particularly with the DSLR. Last week I was lucky enough to get a great round up of shots of him.

Of course I couldn't take pictures of Hobbes without taking a few pictures of Apollo, my ever present photo taking helper and total natural in front of the camera.

introducing Hobbes

Introducing the newest member of my kitty clan, Hobbes.

He's from the Wisconsin Humane Society, he's three months old, and he came with the name. Another male orange tabby kitten with a great name seemed like a good fit for us and our boys.

This guy has an insane amount of energy, even for a kitten. Apollo and Ares had an insane amount of energy as kittens and still do as adult cats but Hobbes is on a whole different level. To give you an example, the only way he'll fall asleep when people are around is in someone's lap. Otherwise he's way too excited to calm down on his own. Apollo and Ares never went through anything that extreme.

It's been an adjustment for all of us, but so far things are going well. I'm ending this post with a little round up of first Hobbes cell phone pictures. When he's awake, he almost never stops moving and he's always interested in me and my camera, which has made it hard to get a lot of shots with the DSLR. Consequently, even most of these cell phone shots are of Hobbes sleeping.

I know that it's been months since I've shared any pictures of Apollo and Ares on the blog. I have a huge backlog of cell phone snaps, and I hope to start posting them again at some point soon.
