Hello all. I'd like to introduce myself. Some of you know me already and I am really pleased to be part of this group.
My name is Hazel and my blog is Quietly Stitching. I am nearing the big 4 0 next year and have been stitching since I was 17. I started stitching around the same time that I became a Christian and so my faith is very important to me. I am married with two children, 11 and 6 years old and I live in the Peak District in Derbyshire in the UK. I went back to work as a secondary school teacher two years ago and I work in an independent Christian school where both my children attend (it has a primary attached). I really love my job but during term times it leaves little time for stitching and crafts. So I make good use of the holidays.
I have been stitching for a long time. I started out with cutesy Country Companions designs but then moved on very quickly to more elaborate designs like Mirabilia. Once I got started online with blogging and forums, the world of stitching really opened up and I began to find many designs that really appealed to me like samplers and reproduction samplers. I think these kind of designs really define me as a stitcher although I am not averse to the odd sparkly project now and again! I have been involved with many exchanges over the past few years and have often done RAKs and giveaways on my blog. In fact I am having a giveaway on my blog right now. This has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know fellow stitchers from across the globe and I am looking forward to getting to know some of you too and sending a few RAKs out.
My favourite designers would include (but not limited to) Blackbird Designs, Carriage House Samplings, Heartstrings Samplery, LHN, CCN, Lizzie*Kate, The Sampler Girl amongst many others. I have just ordered my first My Big Toe designs chart as I love the scriptures on them so will see how that goes. I have also just signed up for the autoship of the new CCN ornies due to start soon. I love most things and autumn is my favourite season esp the colours but I don't like halloween designs or anything "witchy" or horoscopes. I love hand dyed fabrics in natural/subtle shades and also hand dyed threads. I am hoping to try my hand at hardanger soon as well.
Well that's a little about me. I am going to be having a little browse around your blogs and posts and try and get a feel for how this works. Look forward to RAKing some of you soon.
