Slieve Blooms and a pretty house...

Well it's March and that means daffodils
lovely golden daffodils
I have a few flowering
and I planted some outside the gate
but stupid sheep wandering up the road ate them and now
I only have 2 flowers left
I hope those stupid sheep and hope that they have really bad belly ache...

More walking this week
this time we headed for the Slieve Blooms.

We passed this beautiful little cottage on our way
and I just couldn't resist having a look
I didn't think anyone lived there and gawked through the window
but there were signs of life
so if it's your house and I was making a nuisance of myself
 sorry sorry!!
We had a great day up the Mountains
wonderful sunshine and greens
but boy oh boy was I wrecked.

It was a 7km trek and very slippy in places
I fell on my bum more than once
to the delight of the men in my family
who enjoyed a good laugh...
huh....

when we got to the end of our climb even this weary horse looked fresher than me!!!

I bought a bunch of peach roses when I did the dreaded grocery shop
they were such a lovely shade,
 they didn't last long
but even when they were dying they still looked pretty...

Soon it will be Easter and all the yummy chocolate goodies are appearing in the shops,
I'm trying to be good
so instead of buying delicious chocolate eggs
I bought coloured ones to decorate with
(have no idea what I'm going to do with them)
but sure they look nice and you can't eat them...
Do you remember last Summer when I was telling you
about lovely daughter with a bruised heart.
Well same daughter's heart has obviously healed
as she is out and about with her friends,
wining and dining and living the high life.
She met a local guy who has an identical twin and she seems hAppY....

I met him recently in the village and started chatting to him,
telling him how cold I was, asking after his Mother
and if he enjoyed his Saturday night out,
yabba, yabba, yabba
I thought he was looking at me strangely but he chatted away politely
yes you have guessed it
I was chatting with the twin brother
Oopsie, dosey Me
(I didn't tell Ms. Raindrops as I don't think she would be too impressed!!!!)

I'm sure he thought I was just a simple old wan wanting to chat about nonsense
thank heavens he didn't know who I was...
Lesson to be learnt,
know who you are talking to Fiona
before you open your big mouth....
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend full of sunshine and laughter
and because it's Friday  it's

Mountains, Mugs...

and hApPy things...

Hello my lovlies and how are you this week?

It's been cold here and just when I thought Spring was on it's way
she disappeared and left her friend Mr. Winter with us.
Myself. Mr. Raindrops  Teenager Raindrops and 2 crazy dogs went walking
It was bitterly cold and I wrapped up well
I looked like someone attempting to climb Mount Everest
but better to be  safe than sorry right?!

We had beautiful views of the Wicklow mountains
and even though I moaned about the cold it was worth it.

On Saturday it started to snow and as it was quite heavy
I decided to go to the supermarket and do all my  shopping
just in case we were stranded without anything to eat for the week,
it looked lovely
but sure when I came out with a trolley load of shopping
it was gone....
Do you like grocery shopping?
I don't....

take the food off the shelves
put it into the trolley
take the food out of the trolley
and put it on the conveyor belt
put it back into the trolley
take the bags out of the trolley
and put them into the car
take the bags out of the car
and take them into the house
take the food out of the bags
and put it into the cupboards
.... agghh time for tea!!!!
Anyway when I was food shopping  I bought a new book
just to make the job more appealing
I haven't started it yet but it sounds promising
it's a story about mothers and daughters
and I'm looking forward to tucking into it when I get some "me" time.
Look at this shop isn't it just so pretty
they have the most wonderful Spring flowers on show
and sure you couldn't help but smile at the bright colours and the gorgeous scent...

and so
 I had to buy....
pretty white hyacinths for the kitchen,
 romantic and dreamy...
I also have some tulip bulbs in a basket that I bought a few weeks ago
the label said they were white but they seem to be a very orangey shade of white...
During the week I spotted (!)  some pretty  mugs in a discount shop
and they were only €1.49 each!
The boys don't like these ones (whew!!!!) as they are too small
that suits me as it means they wont be using them!

I enjoy  drinking out of china cups or mugs and I don't like them too big either
if I'm making tea I always use a teapot
I don't think the tea tastes as nice from a teabag in a cup.

My kids think I'm bonkers
but I suppose we all have our funny little ways don't we?
Or maybe it's just me......
What do you think?
Anyway happy weekend to you all
and remember...

Well hello my friends
I have borrowed teenager Raindrop's laptop so that I can do a quick post
I am sorry that I have not been visiting you
but
I am hoping to get a new laptop as mine is now completely banjaxed
and so fingers crossed I will be back in action again soon...

The weather here has been cold cold cold
those roads are ICY
I  hope that they improve as my nerves are shattered driving on them!

But when the ice melts the days are beautiful, cold, frosty and clear.
I went on a long hike with lovely daughter across the Curragh Plains
it took almost 3 hours but it was just wonderful

not so wonderful the next day
when I could barely walk, had aches and pains all over
and had a stride like John Wayne's
my bottom and legs were sore for 2 days!!!

House and Home...
Planted some hyacinths around 2 weeks ago, the pot was pretty so fingers crossed that they grow!!

also treated myself to two lovely Cath Kidson mugs
they are so pretty and dainty
the tea definitely tastes better from them!!!

I'm still knitting but this time it is taking forever
might be finished by Summer....
Well I know from reading your blogs
that you are all busy decorating your homes for Christmas
I bought some of these pretty decorations
I have far too many now but sure it's a time of excess
 so I suppose it's ok!

The crib is probably my favourite thing at Christmas.
My crib was given to me by my Granny on my 1st birthday
it is probably an antique as it is so old
but it is very special.

Years of my brother and I playing with the figures
and my own children playing with them too
have resulted in chipped faces!!

Well it's Friday and so it's {Green Day 26}

The usual rules apply...
Thank you to all who participate I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do
