Swim Lessons

This summer the kids went back to the Humble City Pool to do 2 weeks of swim lessons. This year Channing joined them as I was trying to get her more comfortable in the water. She was fine going the first day til the end and she was tired and ready to get out. It was much more of a challenging thing to get her to go the second day. She was good with one and done! I don't usually favor bribing your children to do something, but we didn't have the option of a refund and we had paid for the lessons, so bribing is what it came down to. She was really scared to get in because she didn't like making "bubbles" in the water. She hates putting her face in. The instructor worked with her pretty well and after a couple days and a promise of a "little blue pool" in the backyard if she completed her lessons, she made it through.
Silly goggled cuties!
They were happy to be together! They also had a couple friends in their classes and that made it fun!
Channing made it on the diving board. She did well! I'm not sure she can "swim" yet, but she progressed a ton, and she got comfortable in the water. Until she can put her face in all the way it will be difficult to swim well, but she can float ok!
Cavin is getting better and better. On the first day he advanced from level two to level three (partly because they had too many kids in level 2, but it made him excited). He is a pretty crooked swimmer, but is getting better and better and I feel pretty comfortable with him in the water.
Ella is our little swimmer. She swims pretty well and has a fairly good stroke. She was working on breathing on the side better, but she really is pretty good.
I am glad they were patient and took lessons. I feel like learning to swim is a life skill that you need to survive and I want them to be able to tread water and float if they get in trouble in the water. Until next year.....
