I have splashed out on 2 fabric lines this month. (Yes Monkey, I kept my promise. but we only said this month, not THE NEXT MONTH :)
Tina Givens' new line Haven's Edge has already arrived and is absolutely gorgeous.
... and Patty Young's Sanctuary should arrive today or Monday, and as always Patty has managed to create something stunningly beautiful and contemporary.
But I need all your help. Here is my dilemma. I have these wonderful fabrics, whole collections sometimes and I absolutely adore them, but I keep looking at them, drooling over them, caressing them, but I never have the courage to use them. I keep working my way through old scraps or leftovers from previous quilts and never actually get to the big beautiful fabric lines.
I think it's because I am afraid I might ruin them and the quilt or gift I make will disappoint me and then I won't have any of the fabric left. And especially now while I am working on my Etsy shop, I don't want to ruin any of my fabric.
So what should I do? What should I use these fabrics for?
Maybe I should rearrange my fabrics and sort them by colour as many quilters seem to do these days? Maybe that way I would actually start using them more? At the moment I keep all the collections together, Tufted Tweets in one drawer, Flora and Fauna in another etc.
Let me know what you think, all your advice is greatly appreciated.
Love, Nadine

Christmas again? Already. Yay.
Look what beauty has just arrived. Oh I am sooooo lucky, this bumper pack truly feels like Christmas again.
This box is packed full with lovely goodies from seamstar.co.uk
including some of the amazing designer fabrics Courtney offers in the shop. It's absolutely beautiful.
It also contains a collection if Anna Maria Horner Voiles and ribbons, zippers and a cute tin of sewing pins.
Now I have a few more questions for the experienced sewist:
- When using ribbons how do you avoid the ends unraveling?
- What can I do with these adorable voiles? I shouldn't use them for quilting, should I? They're too precious for that.

Sunday Stash (... on Monday, ooops)
I think you all know how much I love, no, LOOOOOVE fabric and I think I need to get into the habit of sharing more of my fabric with you, well pictures of my fabric, of course, duh.
So here is a little random selection of the fabrics I found at the Festival of Quilts.
I am currently trying to get Heather Ross's "Far Far Away 2" but am really struggling to find them in the UK. I bought a few FQs off Katy from I'm a ginger monkey but was hoping to find the darker greys and purples too. If anyone has a suggestion where I could find them in the UK (can't bear waiting for up to 6 weeks for a package and pay horrendous customs charges) I would love you forever.
These are the ones I have.

Oh, I am all giddy, look at this BJUUUUU...TEE...FULLL fabric on Lucy and Norman. I really should not tell you about it, as that decreases my chance, oh well, let's just hope that I WILL WIN and not you ;)!
It is my birthday next week after all.

... and the 3 WINNERS are
I used an online random number generator, I didn't know how to embed it so I decided to just use a screenshot.
The winners are commenters number 7, 9 and 1.
So Emma, Marjorie and Lisa, could you please send me your addresses by email to nadinesaupe@yahoo.com and I'll post your fabric in the next few days.
Congrats to the winners and don't despair to the others, I think I'll do this again. It's an easy way to "use" fabric scraps without letting them hold me back.
Oh, and in the future those scraps might include some Tanya Whelan, Denyse Schmidt or Patty Young. So, patience Ladies, and just keep checking back.

GIVEAWAY: One woman's trash, another woman's treasure
Ok, it's time to face the facts. I have spent an insane amount of money on fabric over the last few months (well documented here on the blog), but my determination to use up all the old fabric before cutting into the new means I won't be able to work with the beautiful new lines in the next few ... ahem, years (as the handsewing is taking me forever).
So, the best (only?) quick fix solution to the problem is to get rid of the old to start working with the new. (believe me, I am normally not the type to throw out things. so I rather give them to a crafty new home.)
Besides, August is my birthday month and what better way to start celebrating than to draw
THREE WINNERS on Sunday the first of August.
Each of the 3 winners will receive 3 of the nine scrap bags you can see in this post (3 is my lucky number, in case you were wondering), some very cohesive fabrics that go together and some just full of random bits and offcuts. Most of the bags contain different amounts and some quite a lot of fabric. Some even enough for a small quilt.
And as I am feeling slightly neglected in BLOGLOVE I am only asking you to become a follower of mine and post a comment telling me about it (or post a comment telling me you already are a follower, and I love you all, my minions.)
Oh, how exciting, my first giveaway.

Spoonflower swatches arrived
Hurrah. My spoonflower swatches have arrived.
Three different designs, one is turquoise, one is lime and one in fuchsia. They look great together.
And they will be available on Spoonflower.
My labels turned out pretty well too.
And I bought this cute little print called 'Play with me!' for myself to play with.
Hope you like them.

Fabric shopping in Berlin
We had a great time in Berlin even though I spent most of my time at the conference while Monkey had to explore the city on his own. I did however find the time to go fabric shopping at Frau Tulpe's, an amazing fabric shop full of modern designs and Japanese imports.
Check out what I found:
... and I really can't decide which are my favorites. Hmm?

Pig in Wellies
Yes, it's a mini pig in Wellingtons, how cute. Just like Laurie's beautiful Donkey in wellies design.
Laurie asked a while ago in a fabric giveaway which other animals we would like to see in wellies, I said 'monkeys' but didn't win anything. :(
I should have said 'pigs', I guess.
Check out Laurie's other designs in her shop, on her blog and her beautiful website.
Absolutely brilliant.

Fabric bliss
Look what the postman delivered today. And it has all arrived within less than a day of shipping, hurrah.
I indulged in some more Patty Young love. The first from Seamstar, very nicely packaged and with a little sewing tips card which is very well designed.
And the second from Fabric Inspirations.
I am determined to support UK shops when I can but I think I am done fabric shopping (I can see my other half nodding violently when he reads this :)
Well, I am only waiting for some of Jessica Levitt's Timber and maybe some Laura Gunn fabric one day. But that's it, except for some Heather Ross maybe? Argh.
