FMCP mosaics back to looking like crap
Here's the 1964 mosaic of the NYS Pavillion. If Parks can't even fix this properly, why should we expect them to repair the actual structure?
Below is a mosaic by Salvador Dali.
He's likely rolling over in his grave.
The Hall of Science mosaic appears to be intact.
So does the one representing the NYC Building.
Wait a minute...I typed too soon. There's an ugly dark cloud over today's Queens Museum!
The Queens Museum of ART is inside the park, yet they allow these mosaics to sit in this condition? For shame.

FMCP mosaics won't be repaired this time
From the Queens Chronicle:
The mosaic tile discs encircling Flushing Meadows Corona Park’s Dinkins Circle are falling to bits — and in some cases they may not return.
The Parks Department has cordoned off the tile disks, which commemorate the park’s two World’s Fairs, to keep pedestrians from continuing to trample on them.
“Some areas that cannot be repaired will be replaced with hex block pavers,” said a Parks Department spokesman. “Cars are not allowed into David Dinkins Circle to prevent further damage to the mosaics.”

Well, that didn't take long...
Sorry to report that at least one of the World's Fair mosaics in Flushing Meadows is on its way to rack and ruin after the restoration a few months back.

The World's Fair Mosaics have been restored!
In 2007, QC first brought you the decrepit condition of the World's Fair mosaics at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
I am pleased to report that they have been fully restored. Updated photos taken yesterday.

A Walk Through the Meadows, part 5
Ladies and gentlemen, we have come to the conclusion of our walking tour. Notice how the city neglects Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, showing its contempt for the working class people of Queens. The Bloomberg administration wouldn't even think of allowing Central or Prospect Parks to sit in such a disgraceful state of disrepair. Because neither of those parks are located in the borough of Queens...the dumping ground of NYC since 1898!
Crappy says, "Someone please help my friends!"
