Wilding incident at Highland Park

From A Walk in the Park:

In what police describe as a "wilding" spree, authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking down a gang responsible for a series of vicious attacks which left two park patrons with gun-shot injuries and a third with a stab wound that required 40 stitches.

The bloody rampage happened in broad daylight on May 18, 5:45 p.m. when a group of men, believed to be in their late teens to early 20's roamed through Highland Park in East New York armed with sticks, canes, knives and at least one gun, police said.

Media reports initially said it was an altercation stemming from a basketball game. Investigators however believe the attacks were random and three separate incidents as the victims did not know each other.

A 18-year-old man reported being attacked by the gang and slashed four times in the left arm which required 40 stitches to close the wound. He told the police he didn't know why he was targeted.

A 17-year-old male was playing basketball when he was approached by a Hispanic man who asked, "are you Trinitarios?" (a violent New York-based street gang composed of Hispanics) The assailant then shot the teen one time in the left hip. The victim was treated at Jamaica hospital.

A 20-year-old man says he was walking in the park when he heard shots. He ran and he was struck one time in the right side of the chest by a bullet.

He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he is expected to survive.

He told cops he never saw the shooter and doesn't know why he was targeted.

There are no cameras in the park.

And the NYPD is unaware of the correct spelling of Highland Park?

From BBQ to B-ball

The other day at the sh*t hole slum apartment building located at 89-15 170th St and owned by slum lord Baldev Singh, this was the scene of a “ghetto barbecue.”

A good ole Jamaica ghetto cook-out.A good ole Jamaica ghetto cook-out.

But in no time this adaptable run down shit hole space can become a “ghetto basketball court”.
???????????????????????????????Ghetto garbage hoop complete with backboard.

???????????????????????????????No, this is not some slum in some third world country, this is the good old USA, Jamaica, Queens.

What is next “ghetto hot tub”? You pick the possibilities, they are endless.

These garbage cans are used for everything except garbage.

FYI: The New York Fire Bureau was notified of all of the fire code violations from that barbecue and all of the sh*t on the top fire escape, so let’s see if anything happens. I know the sh*t on the fire escape is still there.

Smith to Occupy NBA

From the Daily News:

With local businesses losing money and neither side in the NBA lockout willing to negotiate, one city official is planning to follow the philosophy of the downtown protesters and occupy the NBA.

As a prelude to what state Sen. Malcolm A. Smith calls a “national movement,” the Queens Democrat will lead a group of restaurant owners, season-ticket holders and disgruntled basketball fans in demanding refunds and gathering signatures on a giant petition Wednesday in front of Madison Square Garden.

And if David Stern and Billy Hunter don’t settle their differences in the next four weeks, Smith said the protest will move across the country in “A Day of Solidarity” on Dec. 11. Smith said he has contacted officials in Chicago and Los Angeles who are willing to organize similar protests in front of their respective NBA arena.

$300M down the drain, people evicted for nothing?

From Fox 5:

The Atlantic yards complex that will become the new home for the NBA's Nets could be a lot smaller than originally planned.

The developer had promised 16 residential and office buildings, affordable housing, and recreational facilities along with the stadium.

Much of that vision is on the chopping block. Documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission by developer Bruce Ratner and his Forest City Enterprises show that much of the project could be scrapped because of money problems.

Since no one in America fell for it...

These videos created to market the Atlantic Yards project to foreign investors - or should I say people who are being bribed with green cards in return for investing in this debacle - are really something else...

From Atlantic Yards Report:

Markowitz claims, incredibly, "Brooklyn is 1000 percent, 1000 percent behind Atlantic Yards."

He knows that's false. But it could help save Forest City Ratner some $191 million under the dubious exploitation of a federal program in which immigrant investors get green cards for themselves and their families in exchange for purportedly job-creating investments.

Markowitz closes by asserting that "there's nothing better than China and Brooklyn together."

There's some irony there, given that the version shown here is subtitled in Korean.

Meanwhile, the City apparently lured Caribbean teachers here with promises of green cards and never delivered on it.

Billionaires' breakfast

From NY1:

The mayor had a power-packed breakfast this morning, hosting the major players behind the Atlantic Yards development project at Gracie Mansion.

Bagels were on the menu for this morning's breakfast meeting between Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Nets majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov, arena developer Bruce Ratner and Nets co-owner Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter.

Prokhorov is in the city this week to take park in the NBA draft, after closing on a deal last week to buy 80 percent of the Nets and 40 percent of the arena, which will be called the Barclay Center. The arena is now under construction at the former site of the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn.

The Net's owner is making basketball history with his purchase of the team, as it is the first time there's an NBA team owner from outside of North America.
