Field Trips + Sunburn + Masks + Birds = My Week

This week has been the week of field trips for Bradley's class and I was lucky enough to go on both. Both of the field trips had TONS of walking and going up hills, so I got in a lot of workouts (which is a good thing). In fact my legs are feeling a little sore and I have an awkward sunburn within my hair part. Isn't that the worst place to get a sunburn?!
So just for fun and because Bradley LOVES seeing himself on my blog, I thought I would share the photos

This last photo is of my face. Totally sunburned! Can someone say "I forgot my sunscreen"? Oh and I just found out we are going on another field trip next week. This school is so fantastic!!!!! What school goes on 4 field trips in 1 month?! Umm... our school! Oh and do you see the photo of the Lucha Libre Mask? Yep - I bought two of them for the boys. Thanks Olvera Street.

And before I go... I also wanted to share this new cover of the PaperCut Magazine. It took me forever to make these birds. Like FOREVER! I know it doesn't look like they should, but they totally did! Forming their bodies with wire and paper mache took me the whole day... I know.  So lame, but they look uber darn cute. Right?...RIGHT?! lol

Finally A Layout and A Blog Party Announcement

 photo HeidiSonboulCraftJunction.jpg
No... your eyes are not deceiving you! I made a layout for my blog and I'm posting about it... Can you believe it?!
 photo IMG_4267-001Medium.jpg
Yesterday I was finally feeling up to some crafting time and so I pulled out all my supplies from the Craft Junctions March Kits. I used a combo of two kits, but most of the papers came from here. If you've looked at my blog this past weekend, I'm pretty sure you'll notice these photos too. They are from this post. So lots of links to look at. Fun right?!
 photo IMG_4275Small.jpg
I wanted to keep the layout's color tones warm and yet at the same time... soft. Almost like a sunrise color scheme. The crafty bug has bit me again and it felt so good to scrapbook. While I was on bed rest, I looked at all my crafty friend's blogs and I felt so inspired by all their work. It was nice to just absorb the talents of others, so that when I picked up my scissors... I was ready to work. Oh and speaking of other scrapbookers... my sweet and sassy fun sister in law made a few layouts herself. I thought she did such a great job and I wanted to share the link to them. If you are a scrapper... go leave her some love HERE.

As always, I layered a ton of embellishments and focused on circle shapes. I know it's nothing new, but I ALWAYS love using circles on my layouts. There is something soft and pleasing to the eye about them. Simply put... I love circles and I use them on almost every layout :)

One last thing before I go.... I thought I would share this info.

Which Is Your Favorite Cover?

Once upon a time while in a meeting with a GCD co-worker, we decided to try and make a magazine. We knew it would be a lot of work, but thought "it will so be worth it"! When it came to naming the magazine, we couldn't decide on a name. Later that night I told Mr. Sonboul about the new project and how we didn't know what to call it. Off the top of his head he said.... "what about The PaperCut"? The moment the words left his lips, I knew it was the PERFECT name! Being the Company Coordinator, I took on the cover and photographing each issue. Besides CHA and picking a new DT, I LOVE THIS PART OF MY JOB!

Each month I try and pick something appropriate for the cover and themed to the seasons. So here they all are, without the magazine info and text on the photo.

This past two months have been my favorites, Feb and March. It might be because I'm getting better at the job, or it might be because they are closer to my style. This Month's issue has just posted and within the pages, reveals the NEW DT for GCD. So don't forget to check it out. It goes live at 10am PST on the blog. Just simply go here

So which cover do you like the most?

A New Job = Exciting News

Photobucket

I got an email from Northridge Publication (who I'm doing my book through) the other day and it was an offer I couldn't pass up. We had a phone meeting and put together a plan for a new idea, which was something that was close to my heart...Scrapbook supplies.

I'm so thrilled to be asked to do this job. I've always LOVED their magazines and books and now I get to help with their Craft Junction site. Each month I am given a list of companies to pick from. I then select my top favorites and for this month, you can find them here. It's the perfect job for me, because I'm obsessed with anything scrapbook!

Photobucket

Each month I'll get to work with these supplies and share how I used them. Which again... is so exciting! To kick off the site, here is a coupon for 20% off. I just love coupons!!! Don't you? Right now The Craft Junction is trying to reach 5,000 fans on Facebook, for their BIG opening today. Simply go here, like them and you will be entered in for a prize. Even more fun right?!

I feel so honored to have been asked to help with this and I just know you will love their kits. So go and check it out now, because it's easy and delightful to use!

A Year In A Book and Printing Photos

Photobucket

I have been feeling under the weather today (nauseous) and while I'm taking it easy, I thought I should finally print my photos for the Jan and Feb chapters (Year in a Book Project). I Printed a lot of different sizes, so I can fit in more pics. As I started printing out the photos, I realized how much I use my camera... on a daily basis.

Tomorrow I'll share the January chapter and on Monday I'll share how I decorated the cover. It's all starting to come together and I'm thrilled with how it looks!
I hope you are doing what you love today.

Planning For Easter

So did you know that Easter is in March this year? It's on March 31st. I'm glad I looked it up, because I wouldn't have known or had time to plan for it. I love making my boys matching bow ties, home decor, treats, and (shh) "bunny gifts". To get some cute inspiration I visited Pinterest and found these pretty pics.

Photobucket

I LOVE THIS IDEA. Taking marshmallow and coloring them with food coloring. How neat!

Photobucket

Decorate with eggs and twine is so divine.

Photobucket

And I adore these peep s'mores and glitter filled eggs. I know it's spastic to plan for Easter, but it's just who I am and I like it. I love making every moment special and magical for the boys. I might even put together an advent calendar for Easter, using eggs :) I might even make my own chocolate Easter bunnies this year. haha can you tell I have time on my hands, now that the book is done?

Push Us Higher

Photobucket

When I put the finishing touches on my layout I had a thought "Has it really been 4 years, when I last played along with a challenge and made a layout just for fun"? The answer was "YES"! Somehow 4 years went by and this was most likely the reason I got burnt out in the past. I am SO HAPPY I now only scrapbook for fun and for me. It's the best decision I've ever made for myself. It was also really nice being able to scrapbook with my lines. In fact... I kinda felt cool.

The challenge I'm playing along with was to create a layout using the resist technique. I don't normally use mist and thought this could be thrilling to try. LOL After 3 different tries, I finally had a look I liked. Two Pea's has so many great challenges and now that my book is done, I'm most likely going to lay low for a while and just enjoy playing along. I also realized I'm out of photos to scrapbook. Which means... I need to get back into taking pictures as well.

Photobucket

Even if you like the layout or not... I like it and I thought I would share it. The drought is over and I'm happy. I now crave to scrap almost every night and that's alright with me.

P.S. Mr. Sonboul is totally winning at being more romantic. His thoughtfulness and help is a turn on. I totally need to step up my game!

In just one day

Yesterday I took the day off (well...at least part of it off) and already so much has happened.
Bradley and Calvin went to school and when I picked them up, they were both in trouble! I couldn't believe it! My first day back and there was no time to ease back into motherhood. Calvin wasn't doing his work again and Bradley... well Bradley decided to cut a LITTLE GIRL'S HAIR!!!! Hair is a big deal to me (being that curly hair is so much work) and the little girl that sits next to him has the most gorgeous hair. I asked him "Why would you do that"??? and he said "I just wanted to see if the scissors could cut hair". If you know Bradley, you'll know that THIS is no where like him! He always thinks before acting and is very thoughtful of other's feelings. We are gifting the little girls with a hair salon gift card and he will work off the money it took to buy it.

So why am I still up at 12am? I know that CHA just ended, but I have the BEST idea for a new collection. My mind is bursting with themes, patterns and color schemes. I'm still so tired from CHA and tomorrow I have an art class, but I don't want to forget anything. So as you all rest in bed, I'll be working to my favorite music (on my sidebar).

Needless to say... this was some first day back!

From Beast to Beauty - The Hutch Story

Photobucket
This story begins with me having a dream about a BIG o'l Heavy hutch for my CHA booth space. As soon as I woke up, I got dressed and went over to the Goodwill. The store had a 30% off on all furniture, which was awesome. I walked to the back of the store and there it was. An old beautiful hutch, longing to be revamped. As I checked out of the store, it came out to $115.00.

I got it home and knew that it needed fresh paint...Mint Green to be exact. Mr. Sonboul thought I was crazy to paint such a nice piece of WOOD furniture. Together we sanded down the beast and after FOUR coats of paint, it was complete. Oh and I spray painted the handles silver. Having it in our home was perfect. It allowed me to dress it up, just as I would do it for the show. So here it is in all it's glory. I hope you adore it as much as I do AND go me for recycling!

A Year In A Book Class - May

Photobucket

I really love this month, because I get to enjoy my Mother's Day gifts AND Mr. Sonboul and I celebrate our anniversary. I know that most people fall out of love after 10 years, but for us... it just keeps getting better and better. I miss him when he is away and he makes me giggle at the weirdest things.

Photobucket

I used THIS die cut and THIS banner for the cover.

Photobucket

Hello again... you've seen this before.

Photobucket

I plan to use this for our date night (on our anniversary). You can find it HERE and I backed it with a blue cardstock "tag page".

Photobucket

The back of it is matted, with rounded corners.

Photobucket

Two simple tags.

Photobucket

A cute tag that you can find HERE. I also backed it on a white tag page.

Photobucket

I love this page. Something so cool and simple about the letters coming off the pages. You can find it HERE
Photobucket
I added a darling little pocket and tag...which can be found HERE

Photobucket

All together I counted 31 spots and I plan to do word strips for the journaling this month.

Photobucket

See you all tomorrow and Happy Friday.
