Despite the huge number of existing chess engines out there, chess programmers continue to release new engines (or update their existing chess engines). From the 1st January 2012 to 9 Sept 2012 at least 99 new/updated chess engines were produced (as published in wbec-ridderkerk)
At the point of my writing, the latest addition was Tucano. The name is derived from a bird named Toucan ( (look at this site: tucanochess) . Let see how Toucan pecks (or pecked by) one of the latest top commercial engine, Fritz 13. Result will be published in my next posting.
