45 möh

Good morning! :D

To reach your goals, you need to challenge your fears and climb up high!

In the summer of 2013 I joined the crew of the Swedish Ship Götheborg for two weeks, on the first leg of the Tall Ship Race in the Baltic sea. An amazing experience! :)

This is my inspiration, a scraplift challenge over on the Sodalicious blog.

I was inspired by the black lines and the black square, the torn up book paper in the corners, the orange photo underlay combined with the blue circles. :) Oooo... and also the numbers. A lot of inspiration.

First I added  some tissue paper with text on, on the corners of a Sodaliciuos paper, with mod podge.

Then I added some orange and yellow paint with Liquitex Acrylic Markers in a square where I wanted the photo... and some on the corners as well, to give the layout balance.

There are a lot of lines on the photo, with all the ropes from the sails... I used a ruler to draw those ropes out from the photo, continuing onto the paper. This gives a depth to the whole layout, I think. :)

I also doodled some squares on and around the photo.

I decorated with wooden like thickers, some rope twine and blue brads - to keep the nautical feeling.

Have a great day! :D

Hard Easter

It has been a lovely warm summer day in Sweden today. And I really enjoyed it! :)

This is a layout with a photo from Easter celebration.  I had seen this type of egg painting on the internet, and I wanted to give it a try myself. I really like how it turned out. :) The eggs got different personality. :)

This layout is created inspired by Sodalicious sketch #5. I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right because I think that it suited my photo better.

I started the background, on a Sodalicious pattern paper, by smearing gesso on a part of it. Before the gesso was completely dry I added texture in it with a lid. When it was dry - I dripped alcohol inks over the part with the gesso, and I also did some splashes with a gold mist from Heidi Swapp and a black one from Dylusions.

For some reason the title got really long... but I solved that by having one part of the title in Thickers and the other handwritten.

A close up of the background, where you can see the texture that I created in the wet gesso with a hair spray lid. I like that it is subtle , but yet it's there. :)

And I do love the splashes! :)

Added some paper circles, as seen in the sketch, to enhance the focal point to be on the photo. Did some scribbling around them as well. :)

This is the first version of this layout with the same photo, based on another Sodalicious sketch. But I wasn't pleased with it, so I tore away the photo and papers and started over on the same background paper.

Now I'm pleased. :)

Sweet Nellie

Today I wanted to show you a scrap lift I did over on the SWEScrap blog.

It is a layout about my brothers cute dog - Nellie, who is no longer with us.

Photo borrowed from Mison.

This is the amazing layout done by Mison, that I was inspired by. I just love how she works with different mediums and getting messy. It is so inspiring. :)

I started the background by misting over a mask from the Crafter Workshop - Tile Texture, with two different mists in green and pink.

After that I added a lot of stripes of wasi tape, some stamping and mist dripping - to make it more messy. :)

With all the messiness going on, I wanted the title to stand out.. so I used white thickers for the title.

For the butterflies I used Liquitex medium - Blended Fibers over a mask. You can color that medium, but if you keep it clear it creates a cool soft effect that I really like.

Look at all the yummy layers! Love! :)

Have a great day!

The sweet life

Pyssloteket is having a challenge where you should create around the word "Spring". Spring is starting to join us outside, it's sunny and it's getting warmer - Love it! :)

I choose a photo that I took last spring when me and my niece did our nails, with an idea that she had heard about from a friend. And of course a yummy ice cream! :)

I did a lot of embroidery on my layout - like the cosy home made feeling it gives.

Among my scrapbook stash I have a lot of stickers... that I randomly use, but it was some time ago. For this layout I picked out a lot of word stickers that represent spring for me, and sprinkled them across the layout.

I was thinking of showing you the back of my layout as well, with all the left over thread, so here you go. Sometimes when I like both sides of a pattern paper I cut out a piece of it behind the photo - to save for my next project. :)

I also write on the back of all my layouts, when I created it and when the photo was taken and of what. Usually I don't have any journaling on my layouts, I find it hard to add it on them for some reason, but this is a way for me to keep track of that info in a different kind of way.

Spring for me is a bright feeling, and I wanted to show that by picking a bright happy pattern paper - this one is from Sassafras Lass.

But to make it a little bit more grungy, I added teal paint through a Finnabair Prima mask and stamped with black ink and a texture stamp.

Fabulous

When I was at Stockholm Scrap & Pearl last weekend I bought a lot of nice papers from a friend Malin and her store SirapiParis.

She had brought home pattern papers from the Polish web shop Sodalicious. I have been following their blog for a couple of years, and now to finally be able to create with their pattern papers - WOW! :) I'm sooo happy!

I created a layout about my niece with one of their pattern papers as a background...

... and inspired by this sketch - the March Sketch Challenge at the Sodalicious blog. :)

I started out by making a sketchy rectangle with yellow acrylic paint, gesso and a brayer. Then I picked up hot pink thread and my needle and made some stitches to enhance the corners of the rectangle.

I used some scrap papers in a happy color combination, together with some bling and wood veneers as decorations.

I borrowed this photo from my niece, on facebook, 'cause I just love the photo.. and my niece is fabulous! :)

I think that the fact that the paper has a lot of bicycles on it and I decorated with a wood veneer in the shape of a bicycle only adds to the coolness of the photo... it doesn't have to have a purpose... Love it! :)

Working out

In December last year we scrap lifted on of the girls from the Design Team over on SWEScrap.

This is my version....

...of AnnaEs double layout.

I like all the pattern paper squares and photos. That she manages to get so many photos on one layout, without making it look too much.

I also love the circles on Anna layout... so I lifted that as well. :) I added three different colors of Distress Ink pad (Broken China, Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade) over a polka dot mask. I also added some enamel dots, rhinestones and pebbles. Cute! :)

The layout is about a vacation in 2010 with some of my friends. We filled a car with happy people and drove down to La Rochelle in France. :) We spent a week there, and I really love that cute little town. Every morning me and Laura went out running and working out. It was so great to see the town waking up in the morning, and it was a great start to the day.

I just need to add another photo, cause this makes me sooo happy! :) Yummy colors and circles! :)

-You are restricted from using black anywhere on the layout including, ink, paint, pen lines, journaling or any other elements.
- There is not to be black on the page with the exception of your black and white photo(s).
- You can not use brown to antique elements unless brown is the colour you choose for your monochromatic colour scheme.

7. Materials you may use
:   embellishments, ink, media stuff, everything that you want in the monochromatic colour.

FAQ:
(...)
3. Do I need to use 30x30cm pages?
No you don't. Size is free as long you make two pages.

I decided to do a double layout in the size of 2 times 6x12 inch. I have done some layouts in the size of 6x12 inch before. It was really popular a couple of years ago, and I also have page protectors in that size so this was a great opportunity to use them. :)

First I choose a black and white photo (of my mother and her sister in 1946), then I thought of which color to use... hmmm... PINK! :) So I gathered a lot of pink mediums that I have.

Then I started playing....

I started by adding UTEE with a stamp from D.Downey... but the image isn't that visible. It turned out pretty cool any way, creating yummy texture on the backgrounds.

I did splashes with Alcohol Ink in the color Raspberry. Love how different the color turned out depending on where it landed, on the cardstock or on the UTEE. :) Stamped with Distress Ink pads Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry together with stamps from Prima/Finnabair and Kaisercraft. Making the pages more grungy. :)

This is a close up of the next splashes I did, with Distress Stains in Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Love how it turned out. :)

If you look at some of my other layouts, I love to do some scribble with a black pen. But since I couldn't use black on this, I did my scribble with a pink neon pen instead.

Over the UTEE I mixed modeling paste with two small drops of pink Acrylic ink and smeared that over my favorite polka dot mask from TCW.

Wanted to show you the color of the modeling paste on a different surface.  It is pink! It's just hard to show on photo... on a pink cardstock. :)

Love this close up with all the different shades of pink - in splashes, embroidery, mediums, stamps and pattern paper. :D

It takes just one step

This is my contribution to the first challenge in the Supreme Scrap Tournament 2014.

The rules:
Make a double layout that shows where your live.
For example you could use photos of your favorite tree, bus stop,
house - as long it is within 1000 steps of your home!

- You can not use any spray inks.
- You will have to use at least 3 photos on your project.
- You will have to add a visible journaling of at least 50 words.

Here is a closer look of the left page...

... and the right page. :)

I really love this yellow checkered paper from Sassafras Lass, but I wanted to make it less busy. So I made a frame of post its and smeared gesso, with a brayer, inside that frame. Before the gesso was dry I used a texture comb to make waves. On that I dropped some pink acrylic ink, and created some more texture with the comb.

This is the finished background.

Can you see why it is hard for me to do a double layout?! There's not enough room on my scrap table. ;)

I used the comb to remove some of the gesso so the paper underneath would show through. Here you can see the difference of the waves... on the top where it is without acrylic ink, and to the right the waves are with the acrylic ink. Kind of cool, right? :)

Over this I created a starting point for my photos by adding modeling paste over a leaf mask from TCW, and teal acrylic paint over a polka dot mask - two of my favorite masks. Notice how I kind of mirrored these bases on each page. That gives the double layout the balance that I like.

I love layers on layers - Sassafrass paper, teal paint, modeling paste leaf, dollie, patterned paper, photo, attachers, stars. Happy happy happy! :)

The double layout is about my journey toward a more healthier lifestyle. It will take a lot of steps to reach my destination, but I'm already half way there... and I'm still walking in a steady pace towards it.

It is not easy, not at all... some days are harder than others. But I have learned to love working out, and I can't get enough of it. Really? - ask my friends! :)

And yes, it is SOOO worth it already.

I'm sharing my happiness and inspiration and energy of working out with friends, family and colleagues - and I get it tenfold back. Definitely sooo worth it.  :)

This is where I live! ...hihi... ;)
