Black, White and Yellow - Bridal Shower

This post is going to have LOTS of pictures. My neice got married on 11-11-11 and I decorated this Bridal Shower for her. As you can tell her wedding colors were Black, White and Yellow.
I had a lot of fun putting it all together.

I found this "Bride" bling sticker from Jolee's at Wal-Mart.
Added it to a big yellow candle, then set it on a black plate and surrounded the bottom with big faux diamonds. Found those at Wal-Mart too.

This was a plain black "holder" from Target, I found in the party supply isle. It was flat and had to be put together. Added daisy stickers all around the bottom and black dew drops to the handle.

Found this "W" on clearance at Michaels for around a $1.
Added 3 coordinating ribbons to it and placed in on the table. Added fresh yellow flowers to a premade cake.

These little white buckets were at the $1 store, 3 for a $1. Added ribbon around it and glued on white dew drops. Finished off with 3 ribbons around the handle and filled them with Lemon Heads.

I made custom water bottle labels. This is from a free template I found from Judy Prouse. Megan and Shane

I saved this post so I could use it for the Black, White and One other Color Challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters. So go on over and check out the other pretty creations my fellow Sisters made and they all used different accent colors.

Here are a few pictures of my neice Megan and Shane. Their wedding was in Destin, Florida on 11-11-11. We stayed there for a week in a condo on the beach and had a great time.

Helpful tip that I bet you didn't know...

First let me tell you that this has absolutely nothing to do with scrapbooking or crafts in any way. But I bet you will find this helpful. Ever been in a rental or borrowed car and not know which side the gas tank was on? What about the first few times you fill up your brand new car. You pull in the gas station and strain to look out both side mirrors to try and see the gas tank? Well guess what?? You can usually tell which side the gas tank is on by looking at the gas gauge. There’s an arrow or it says right or left.
What?? I didn't know that, did you? My husband shared that with me last night and I thought it was such a revelation that I had to share with everyone else too. I told Eric that if everyone read the manual that actually came with their car they would know that too. But what does anyone ever use the manual for except maybe to figure out how to set the clock or radio. : )

A Sweet Blog Award

I received this sweet blog award from one of my sweet online friends Kathy - Stitchy. Stitchy is starting a new challenge blog called One Stitch at a Time. The grand opening for the blog is on February 14th, so be sure to go check out my friends new blog and her assortment of digi stamps that she offers.

Now I'm suppose to name 10 things that make me happy.
1. Hearing my children laugh.
2. Laying on a beach.
3. Scrapping - of course!
4. Vegging out and watching tv.
5. Hanging out with my girlfriends.
6. Shopping - retail therapy ; )
7. Organizing just about anything.
8. Eating a really good dessert. Yummm
9. My online friends. : )
10. The Twilight books, movies and Edward. Sigh.....

I have such sweet online friends that several of them had already rec'd this award like Boni and Micki. Hugs to you girls!

The award goes to:
Christine - a good friend I met on CafeMom and ended up meeting in person too.
Michelle Zindorf - she does the most beautiful cards and I was able to take one of her classes last fall and loved it. She is super busy doing tutorials for her blog and going around the country teaching classes so she may not have time to pass on the award but she deserves it all the same.
Kristy - Also a CafeMom friend, fellow DT member at one time and now she has opened her own online digi store called Some Odd Girl
I guess that is all for now but I have many more online buddies. Divas of the Digis -- I'm talking about you. : )

Kaitlyn and the Possibilites!

My daughter, Kaitlyn on the first day of school this year. She is 9 years old, is in third grade and has Down sydrome. This has absolutely nothing to do with scrapping or stamping but everything to do with my life. I just watched this video and had to share it. It's about 25 minutes long so be prepared if you are going to watch. This may give you just a little insight into my life some of the joys of having a child with special needs. Oh it has it's challenges too and kids with DS aren't all happy go lucky like people think they are but this video shows a very positive aspect of DS.

Canada - Eh?

Eric and I went to Vancouver, BC this past weekend. I had no idea what a big city Vancouver was. I thought I was a city girl until I saw this big city!! I've never been to NYC but I would image this would be similiar. So many people and from so many different ethnic backgrounds. It's a true melting pot there. I heard at least 5 different languages just walking around. They had a Sears there that is NOTHING like the Sears we have here. It was so upscale and it was in the heart of downtown. It had at least 4 stories! It was beautiful weather the whole time. No rain, only sunny and warm. I think they broke some records that weekend.
We went to Whistler Mountain which is the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. All around you saw the inukshuk (rocks pictured below)which it the emblem of the 2010 Olympics.

We also went to Grouse Mountain, which the call the Peak of Vancouver. They have 2 bear cubs they are raising to release back in the wild once they are grown. The deer that are in the picture was just out in the open. It was a mommy and her baby. I got with a few feet of them and they didn't run off.

T

The last night there we had dinner with the other people in the company that won that trip too. We took a ferry to the resturant. They served drinks and horderves and they took the long way. Very senic.

Weekend Events

I had a fabulous weekend at the Scrappin Pad! I hope to go there again. It was really nice. I do have many LO's to share but I haven't taken any pictures yet. In fact, my bags are still in the garage. One thing that happened while I was gone is the start of our pool. I'm excited to get it started but I really did want to watch them dig. : ( I did tell my husband to take some pictures because you know I'm going to have to scrap the whole event.
I'm am sooooo excited about this pool. I LOVE being in the water and in the summer sun. This is really a dream come true for me. : )

A helpful tip and misc. stuff

First I have to tell you that I went and saw Mamma Mia! yesterday with a couple of my friends. I absolutely LOVED it!!!!! I loved the story, the music just everything!! The scenery was so beautiful. I can't say anything bad about it. I don't ever buy movies for myself but this one I want!! I will watch it over and over again!! It gets 2 thumbs up, 5 stars, a 10 well, you get the idea! : )

I've been packing up my scrap stuff the last couple of nights getting ready to go on a scrap retreat weekend. I'm soooo ready for a break. I'm going to The Scrappin Pad in Tahlequah, OK. So I will have lots of LO's to post next week.

Remember my waxed paper box well I've entered this century and bought a new one! Check out the updated design. The old box said "waxed" paper but this new does say just wax paper. So check back in 25 years and see if I'm still using this same box! hehe

Ok, now for my helpful tip. This has nothing to do with scrapbooking or cardmaking but everything to do with making your life easier as a mom. My daughter drinks ice water all day long and very little of anything else. Which is great, she sure didn't get that good habit from me! She has learned to take the lid off her cup and fill it up from the fridge door water and ice dispenser and put the lid back on. It's awesome!! No more, "MOOOOOMMMMM I need a drink!" Well, my son is an apple juice drinker - big time! He's five. I still do 1/2 water and 1/2 juice. But I REALLY don't want to clean up split juice, it's gets so sticky on the floor. Plus some of the juice container are big and heavy. So I was still getting the "Mooooommmm I need some juice!" I would make them say please and thank you but STILL I had to stop what I was doing and do it for him. Ok now for the solution and it is soooooooo awesome!!! I bought this at Wal-Mart for just under $6. I added a BIG thing of juice then filled the juice container with water and put that in the container also. Now Austin can go get his juice all by himself. Besides the fact I don't have to do it for him anymore it also makes him feel good. He almost looks proud when he's getting his own juice! You know sometimes it's the little things in life that just make me so happy!
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and I'll be back next week!

Waxed Paper

Do you use waxed paper in your kitchen? I do but oh so rare. First of all, I always called it wax paper, but I saw on the side of the carton it is waxed paper. I just ran out of my waxed paper and just had to show you the dispenser. I actually got this from my mom's house several years ago and it's obvious she's had it for well many, many, many years. The picture just cracked me up.

Where to start, her hair, the microwave, or the dress. There is an ad for Free Silkies(hose) on the back.

I looked all over the box to find a date when it was manufactured. All I found was on the Silkies ad on the back. 1987!!!!! I knew it was old.

I checked the internet and they do still sell Silkies and you can still get a free pair.
I hope to actually do some scrapping/stamping this weekend so I can post about that! Have a great weekend everyone.

Taekwondo

Just a little note on the personal side. A friend of mine has been taking taekwondo for about a year. She got a pass for 10 free lessons and asked me to come. I'm in desperate need of exercise!!!! I said yes and I've been three times this week, Monday, Wednesday and today. After Wednesday, I decided that after my free lessons were up that I'd join. It's $99 a month or you can do six months for $500 if you pay up front, so this isn't cheap. Oh but this is cheaper than liposuction! My friend goes M,W,& F and she's very loyal to it so I know I will have someone there to keep me motivated. Plus the other women have been very nice. Ok, so that was Wednesday. I went this morning and OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was going to die! The other days were hard and I was so hot and sweaty but today was VERY rough!! I had to take a couple of breaks, I was shaking and I almost cried. Except for one girl who is also a white belt (what you start out as)the rest have been there at least a year. I'm so out of shape and have extra weight, I just couldn't keep up. I did do the very best I could without having to go to the hospital! : } My friend was worried about me and I thought I might not join after today. I told her if this had been my first day I don't think I would have come back. But I'm going to keep it up. I KNOW I need this. Plus both kids will be in school full time this fall so no excuses about not enough time. I'll keep you'll updated on my progress.

Why Princess?

So why did I call this blog Princess Scrap Girl? Well, for one thing several other names I tried where taken. But I found out last year from some dear friends that I was a Princess! WHAT?!?! They were so surprised that I didn't already know that I was a Princess. I really had no clue! I asked how can I be a Princess when I get my clothes from Target and Wal-Mart? I'm such a bargain girl and clearance shopper. Not a quality I thought you'd find in a Princess. So they said I the Practical Princess. Supposedly I'm a Princess because I get what I want. Ya know, I guess I really do! But is that such a bad thing? I sure don't think so. Since the night of this conversation with my friends, I have come to embrace the Princess inside me. Heck, why not! I always associated a Princess with "high maintenance" but that's really not so. I don't think you would ever say that Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the rest were high maintenance. Now I feel as if I have a standard to live up to, you know being a Princess isn't easy! : )
