Yanmega -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Yanmega Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yanmega from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Yanmega is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Yanmega's Ability is called Sonic Vision and says that if you have exactly 4 cards in your hand, ignore all energy costs for attacks on Yanmega.  Besides the Ability, Yanmega has one move called Assault Boom, for three colorless energy cards this move does 50 damage plus 70 more damage if your opponent has a Pokemon Tool card attached to their active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yanmega is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Yanma into play (I reviewed Yanma from this set yesterday) and then evolve Yanma into Yanmega.  There is a Yanmega BREAK card in this set and I'll be reviewing it tomorrow.  If you read yesterday's review of Yanma, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a good HP and two moves, but neither move it had was that great, and it was slow to do any damage when attacking.  So knowing this about Yanma and looking at this Yanmega card, it would make most sense to use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck and keeping this line on the bench until needed.  You really don't need any energy cards for this card, get Yanmega on the bench and when you have 4 cards in your hand, move Yanmega to the active Pokemon spot and attack for free.  You can also stash Yanmega on the bench and prevent your opponent from using a Tool card or if they do use a Tool card do 120 damage to that Pokemon for three energy cards.  Because of Yanmega's free retreat cost, it definitely makes sense to include a 1-1 line of this family in a deck, especially if you use plenty of trainer cards and other ways to modify your hand to have only 4 cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Face value wise this card is more average than above average, but this card definitely has possibilities with a high HP, free retreat cost, and an Ability and move that work very well together with its retreat cost.  Together with Yanma from this set, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating.

Yanmega -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Yanmega Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yanmega from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Yanmega is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Yanmega does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Windfall, this move allows you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 6 new cards, for one grass energy card.  Yanmega's second move is called Surprise Strike and for three colorless energy cards does 50 damage plus if you just moved Yanmega into the active Pokemon spot, the move does 50 more damage for a total of 100.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yanmega is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Yanma into play (I reviewed Yanma from this set yesterday) and then evolve Yanma into Yanmega.  If you read yesterday's review of Yanma, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, I actually thought the card was pretty solid over all, with an above average HP, and a good move doing 30 damage, but you would need to attach an energy card to it each turn to be able to attack each turn which made me give it a lower rating.  So knowing this about Yanma and looking at this Yanmega card, I would highly recommend using this Pokemon line a deck that included many other Pokemon that had free retreat costs.  That way, you could set up Yanma, evolve it into Yanmega on the bench, then put three energy cards on it, then every couple of turns, switch it into the active Pokemon spot and use Surprise Strike one turn, do 100 damage, then retreat it for free.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  I really like this card in a deck that includes many low or free retreat cost Pokemon, and being able to do 100 damage every turn for only three energy cards of any type is really amazing.  So if you're just starting to build a deck, I would highly recommend trying to work this line into your new deck.  Overall, I would give the line of Yanma and Yanmega from the Phantom Forces set a 3 out of 5 rating, Yanma was a 2 and Yanmega was a 4.

Yanmega -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Yanmega Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yanmega from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Yanmega is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  Yanmega is the stage 1 evolution of the Pokemon card I reviewed yesterday in Yanma.  Yanmega has a x2 weakness to electric type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Yanmega doesn't have an Ability, but it does have two moves, the first move is called Agility and for two colorless energy cards it does 30 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin all effects of attacks from your opponent during their next turn is prevented on Yanmega.  Yanmega's second move is called Cutting Wind and for three colorless energy cards this move does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yanmega is a a stage 1 Pokemon card, I would recommend keeping Yanma on the bench, then evolving it into Yanmega, once Yanmega has at least two energy cards on it I would then put it into the active Pokemon spot.  Once Yanmega is in the active Pokemon spot I would use Cutting Wind two turns in a row unless the defending Pokemon has more than 140 hp or Yanmega is likely to get knocked out during its next turn, if that was the case I would use Agility instead of Cutting Wind.  If possible, I would put this card in a spread damage type deck, so I could use Yanma a turn or two, then evolve Yanma into Yanmega, use Cutting Wind a turn or two, then use Yanmega's free retreat cost and move it to the bench, besides having spread damage type Pokemon in the deck I would include a couple that would have free retreat costs so I could freely move Yanmega and those other Pokemon in and out of the active Pokemon spot quite regularly.  I would use Yanmega in any type deck since it only requires colorless energy cards, and I would include a 2-2 line of Yanma and Yanmega in that deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  This is a very good stage 1 Pokemon card, and the best Dragons Exalted card I've reviewed lately.  I like the fact that this card has a free retreat cost, can be put in any deck, and has two great moves.  I know this is a stage 1 Pokemon card but this card really would be dominant if it had a little higher hp or a sweet Ability.  Either way this card is a great card, and I would recommend it to anyone.
